Bleak jobs report dampens hopes of steady growth

WASHINGTON (AP) - A bleak jobs report suggests the recovery from the Great Recession will be longer and bumpier than many economists had envisioned.

Most economists say job growth should strengthen later this year as gasoline prices drop further and the economy recovers from the effects of natural disasters in the U.S. and abroad. But the recovery is starting to weaken 17 months before the 2012 election, which could hurt President Barack Obama’s re-election prospects.

The unemployment rate in May inched up to 9.1 percent from 9 percent, the Labor Department said Friday; when Obama took office, it was 7.8 percent.

The Conference Board, a business research group, predicts the rate will be 8.5 percent at the end of next year. That would mean Obama would face a higher unemployment rate than any president running for re-election since World War II.

Thank God my wife isn’t one of those unemployed, she was, for quite some time, and as folks know, I am retired on disability, on a fixed income. Things were pretty tight for a while, but now we know what it is to be under employed.

We’re having to do some lifestyle modifications because my wife isn’t making the money she was 2 ½ years ago, and even though things are a lot better than they were at this time last year.

Now, every time I see where Barack Hussein Obama and his wife are going on another international trip, a mission of diplomacy, so they say, I get angry, simply because I know, they are NOT on any mission other than to go on another vacation on the taxpayers dollar.

Today it was disclosed that Michelle Obama announces official visit to Africa. I have to ask, WHY is she is going on an OFFICIAL visit, on OUR tax dollar. What is she? Other than being the wife of The Socialist in Chief?

What can she OFFICIALLY do, in Africa?

I am also going to avoid the obvious opportunity to engage in cruel punditry regarding an ancestral home or Barack Hussein Obama’s place of birth. Oops. :?

To get back to the point, jobs and the economy;

Romney points to job numbers as proof Obama fails

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - Casting President Barack Obama as a failure who has tanked the United States’ economy, Republican White House hopeful Mitt Romney seized on Friday’s jobs report as he pitched himself as an alternative with the experience to turn around the struggling economy.

“Three years into his term, we have more news that unemployment has ticked up again,” Romney said at a town hall-style meeting, a day after he formally joined the GOP presidential contest.

Employers hired 54,000 new workers in May, the fewest in eight months, and the unemployment rate rose to 9.1 percent. The Labor Department report offered startling evidence that the U.S. economy is slowing, hampered by high gas prices and natural disasters in Japan that have hurt U.S. manufacturers.

Romney’s expected rivals also used the jobs numbers to make the case of why they should replace Obama in early 2013.

I don’t like Mitt Romney, I don’t trust Mitt Romney. I wouldn’t hold my nose and pull the lever for Romney even if he were to be the GOP/RNC offering.

I believe that Mitt Romney is just another version of Barack Hussein Obama, and was the architect, the founding pattern of ObamaCare with his version of RomneyCare and all that it did to Massachusetts.

I feel that Romney would only be a continuation of what we have now, and by making him the POTUS, we would only be going from the frying pan to the fire, but I have to say this, Romney is correct on one point, the numbers DO point to the fact that Barack Hussein Obama has failed, on every level.

I personally don’t believe that Romney or any of the other so far ‘thought to be running’ folks can do much of anything to make the economy right.

The politicians talk, they promise, they pander for votes, they get elected and sit on their asses, spending OUR money, or playing golf, traveling the world and enjoying all the perks that the Office of The President offers, while the average American looks for ways to get by on less.

Then there’s this to worry about, Moody’s Warns of Downgrade for U.S. Credit.

Warnings about what could happen if Congress did not increase the nation’s debt limit “in coming weeks”, doesn’t that just set the tone for a great weekend?

How’s all that ‘Hope and Change’ working out for you now?

If it meant getting Barack O’Bama out of office, I’d settle down unemployed (would have to hunker some). In the long run it would be worth it. My new granddaughter and my other grandchildren might actually know a taste of freedom and a little prosperity in their lifetimes.

    Keep your powder dry

What is Michelle Obama going to do in Africa? I would wager she gives away at least 500,000,000 dollars.

I don’t know what “chewbacca” is going to do but I hope she stays there, and yes,
you are right on on that 500,000,000 million dollar figure. You know she’s going to have to show the africans how she’s spending whitey’s cash and they’s nuffin they’s can do bout it cause barrack, he now da man!!!! She can tell them how bad she’s been treated by the USA with a college educations, $ 347,000 job she left, has 22 assistants that wait on her hand and foot, (while all previous presidents only had a maximum of 1 or 2), and takes $540,000 vacations every month. Yes sir she has nothing to be proud of from her country at all. The ungrateful Bitch!!

People voted for this friggin’ left-wing disaster, & a lot of ‘em are gonna do it again. Stockholm syndrome, I suppose, at least for the ones who aren’t already Red. But anybody that supports a derelict ‘president’ who plays golf instead of going to Arlington on Memorial Day just doesn’t deserve the privileges of citizenship.

Trip to Africa is costing this country a lot just for spear chucking lessons.
