It's almost too depressing to think about. The politicians will sell their own souls for votes, they aren't going to do anything to protect our border. Before we know it Americans will be the minority in America. Then what?

Yes, you are correct. Guess my frustration at the GOP still hasn't subsided even after having left the party two years ago.

My choices are Bob Barr as the (likely) Libertarian candidate and penciling in my own name as a write-in. I haven't read up on Barr's positions just yet, either on border security or on my pet-peeve subject.

As for the remaining 3 stooges in the lineup, I refuse to vote for any of them....not that Clinton & Obama were ever a consideration.

Answers:

1) I don't have a choice
2) Not applicable
3) Not applicable
4) I'll shoot first and ask questions later

Immigration takes a back seat to global warming with me, but as a card-carrying member of the NRA, maybe you folks will kindly give me a pass on that one. I got an e-mail asking me to weigh in, so I'll do it.

Politicians in Washington have contracted "DirecTv syndrome" on the immigration issue.

DirecTv syndrome is the misguided compulsion for one to offer better incentives to potential new customers while simultaneously ignoring the customers one has already earned.

Want a free DVR? Nope. You're not a new customer. You'll have to pay $300. However, if you weren't an old customer, we could have given you a free one.

Sound familiar?

I don't pretend to have a solution to this. All I know is the simple math:

20 Million (conservative estimate) new citizens added to the lower class + climate change treaty = a bear market the likes of which we have never seen in this country's history.

Am I worried? Yes. But I know that people like yourselves & me will ultimately take over & start running the show if these two components ever see the light of day. We're trying to get the message out now, but no one will ultimately listen until the proverbial poop has hit the fan.

So, we can use imminent domain for a Football stadium, but we can't for a fence to protect the nation, hmmm.

I sometimes muse what it will take to get the attention of the average Joe, 3rd world diseases (TB, bed bugs, etc.) have been on the rise for a few years, murdered Americans, they are raping our children and woman, draining our social services, and so on. What will it take. Arggg, even gun fights in Laredo don't get much attention.

Sadly, I can't help but wonder, if the drug cartels start to really flex their muscle, the only effect N. of the border may be to send more money to the Mexican Government to help them fight crime.

If I was king, I would do exactly what has been proposed by a few of the people here, stop sending money to a resource rich country, build a fence and give those who defend it the authority to actually defend it.

The fact that the Cartel feels threatened enough to put out their death list is a bright spot. It means there are a few who are not in their pay. It kind of reminds me of a few old Westerns......

Fred that’s a great post and you’ve got some great answers. I’m not at all optimistic. Unless we Americans can get behind a real conservative LEADER who is willing to take on the entire U.S. government (that apparently is content with the Mexican invasion), I don’t believe the fight against illegal immigration will go anywhere. Most Americans have lost the concept of states’ rights. Most American conservatives are so ruggedly independent that we can’t come together to support anyone en masse. One idea that you and I floated a couple of weeks ago was the “Come and Take It!” symbol. At least, we would have a unifying symbol of resistance!

"I’d like to bitch-slap each and every one of ‘em until they shape up."

The first thing I pictured when I read the above was that scene in "Airplane" where the entire plane is lined up to bitch slap a hysterical passenger. It was a hilarious scene, but appropriate for this congress.

I live in Arizona and it's hell here. The Employer Sanctions law was voted in and has been working spectacularly. It is being challenged--and has been continually challenged since it was voted in--by all the civil rights groups like La Raza, Aztlan, etc. However, it's working. Phoenix has Sheriff Joe (damn I wish we could clone him).

We have a morning radio talk show host who came up with the idea of "What If America?"--a plan where, if the government won't build the fence, the citizens will. They are at the stage of logisitics right now. Funding? Pledges from people using their "stimulus" checks. Throw the government money into something the government won't do. You can google it and go to the site to see what it's all about. Yes, I have pledged my stimulus money to this effort.

Ultimately, while people screech about vigilantism, it may very well come to that--if the government won't do its job, the citizens will do it and on this issue the plans are in the works.

Don't forget about the latest troop funding bill and HR5515 in Washington now, either--another attempt to ram this down our throats and in the case of HR5515, we won't have the rights to defend ourselves against these invaders.

Just my two cents worth.

Until we get politicians with the kahoonas to actually send troops to the border and enforce our sovereignty, we will continue to be victims of those who have no respect for human life. Unfortunately none of the 3 running for POTUS have a set between them and neither do 90% of the legislators.

“More than 3 million square miles of territory to protect, 10 thousand miles of border to guard and a fence to build 10, 11 or 12 miles high. It is better to have less thunder in the mouth and more lightning in the hand.”
