3 Internet providers agree to block child porn

June 10th, 2008 . by TexasFred

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Internet providers Verizon, Sprint and Time Warner Cable have agreed to block access to child pornography and eliminate the material from their servers, New York’s attorney general said Tuesday.

The companies also will pay $1.1 million to help fund efforts to remove the online child porn created and disseminated by users through their services, Attorney General Andrew Cuomo said. The changes will affect customers nationwide.

Time Warner Cable acted as soon as it learned that users were posting objectionable material and eliminated the newsgroups, a mainstay of the Internet from its early days, said spokesman Alex Dudley.

He emphasized that Time Warner didn’t host or provide any of the content and was simply a portal, allowing groups to be created with content provided by the users.

“As soon as we were made aware of the issue … we took steps to correct,” Dudley said Tuesday.

The agreements follow an undercover investigation of child porn newsgroups. Cuomo said in a prepared statement that his investigation of other service providers is continuing. He has used similar probes and the possibility of civil or criminal charges to extract concessions on Internet safety in the past.

Last year, Cuomo reached agreement with the social networking sites MySpace and Facebook to toughen protections against online sexual predators.

3 Internet providers agree to block child porn

This is great news, but 1st I must preface my remarks by saying, personally, I don’t care what consenting adults do to achieve sexual gratification, it’s none of my business, what takes place between consenting adults in the privacy of the home and bedroom is not the business of anyone other than those involved.

The moment an underage participant is brought into the equation it becomes the business of every decent man and woman in this nation, and the actual age of that underage participant is not the most important factor either, just the fact that they are underage, whether it’s teens, adolescents or children, mature adults DO have a responsibility to ensure their safety.

Many names are attached to those that prey on our children, predator, pervert, pedophile, but no name can truly define the sickness of persons that fashion themselves as child lovers and then uses children as their fantasy, or sadly, in many more cases than we know of, their victim.

Oh they call it normal and make excuses like, ‘he/she wanted it, they were coming on to me!’ in an attempt to justify their deviant nature, but there is NO excuse.

To knowingly accept sexual advances from someone that you know to be underage is NOT acceptable, to put forth sexual advances to a person that you know to be underage is NOT normal behavior, it is a sick perversion and I applaud these ISPs for doing all they can to take away any and all opportunity for these SICK pedofreaks to have a way to engage in their perversion.

And to make this perfectly clear, if you engage in sexual acts, of ANY nature, with an underage person, you are a pedophile, if you watch child pornography, if you download child pornography, if you SELL child pornography, if you provide child pornography, in ANY way, you are a pedophile, and to the pedophiles that read this site, and I know you do, we are still watching you, and we are waiting for the opportunity to expose you for what you are and have you jailed.

Make NO mistake pedofreaks, WE ARE WATCHING YOU.

Bravo Fred.  And a “bravo” to Verizon, Sprint and Time Warner too.  I’d say it was about damn time someone started taking responsibility!

I agree with what Kate said. People really aren’t aware of how these sub humans think, i.e. in their chat rooms, etc  ” If an infant smiles when you touch them, they are consenting “. To them, a smile equates to consent, and many children suffer for it. They make their own rules, as it seems most folks on the internet do these days, and must be stopped.

Sick isn’t the word for these perverts.  I don’t think there is a word in any language that can describe these creatures.
