The Demise of Common Sense

The Demise of Common Sense

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense , who has been with us for many years.

No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
- Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
- Why the early bird gets the worm;
- Life isn’t always fair;
- and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place.

Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.

He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers;
- I Know My Rights
- I Want It Now
- Someone Else Is To Blame
- I’m A Victim

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

In my observations of life I have deduced that one of the parties most responsible for the demise of Common Sense has been The Cancer of Political Correctness and the desire to not offend anyone, EVER, at all costs.

Political correctness has caused America to end prayer in schools and at many public events. Political correctness, and the LIBERAL desire to not offend has caused MANY in this nation to fore-go a hearty wish of Merry Christmas for a non-offensive greeting of “Best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral, winter solstice holiday…”

Political correctness is rapidly turning American youth into a nation of wimps. If you don’t believe me, go to a kids ball game, baseball, football, whatever. There are NO winners and there are NO losers, the kids are taught that winning and losing is not the point of the game, it’s all about how “we all participated” in the play.

BULL SHIT!

All an attitude like that does is prepare our youth for one hell of a disappointment once they attempt to enter college or the job market. Attitudes like that are the primary reason that this nation has not won a decisive BATTLE in war since the end of World War II.

Life is filled with winners and losers, sadly, many of those *losers* became elected officials as they *WON* their particular race, and once they were seated and had become a term limited *lame duck*, it appears that *some* just stopped giving a damn.

What’s REALLY funny is the way *some* that aren’t facing their *term limit* have turned out to be the most ineffective, and silent, of all.

I am just glad that the showing of *How the Grinch Stole Christmas* hasn’t been changed to *How the Grinch Stole the non-specific, non-religious, gender neutral celebration of the Winter Solstice*.

A nation that has lost its Common Sense and is run under the guise of Political Correctness is a nation that will not enjoy unfettered freedom for too much longer.

    And we have to look no further than Europe.

    Europe is actually beginning to come around — a bit.

    We can learn nothing from history.

    I’m only asking this to make sure I’ve got it right:

    1. It would be unamerican to waterboard some bast*rd who is trying to blow up the United States.

    2. There is nothing unamerican about “indefinitely detaining” American citizens as long as some one like Eric Holder has declared him to be a terrorist (maybe because he owns a gun).

    3. Yep, RIP Common Sense.

    Keep your powder dry

    In a day and age when common sense was uncommon common sense was found more so on these pages by the readers of this page than across most of the rest of this nation…

    I had to… Because I couldn’t really add much more.
