Jazz Singer Opts for *Black National Anthem*

July 2nd, 2008 . by TexasFred

A jazz singer shocked some Denver residents after replacing the words to the national anthem with those of the “Black National Anthem” during the annual State of the City address this week.

Rene Marie was asked to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” before Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper delivered the annual address on Tuesday. Instead, she sang the lyrics of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” — a hymn commonly referred to as the “Black National Anthem” — to the tune of the national anthem, MyFOXColorado.com reported.

“If anyone has got a right to be angry it’s probably me,” Hickenlooper told the station. “I guess what I feel most is just deeply disappointed.”

The mayor said only Marie, her husband and a musical adviser knew what the local jazz singer had in mind.

“What she said was that she was very sorry, that she meant no disrespect, that she was trying to make a creative expression of her love for the country,” Hickenlooper said.

Singer Opts for *Black National Anthem*

I have wanted to write about this all day but I was hesitant in doing so, simply because there is nothing that I can say that won’t be interpreted as being anything less than extremely racist, so, with that in mind, here are my thoughts concerning the singing of the black national anthem.

Rene Marie was hired to sing the National Anthem, that would be the National Anthem of the United States of America, not the Black Anthem of whatever, not the national song of some other nation, a nation that only exists in her mind, she was brought in to sing the National Anthem of THIS nation.

This was NOT a *black* issue, Rene Marie can make all the excuses she likes, but what she did was disrespectful to the United States of America and it’s citizens, ALL of it’s citizens, of ALL colors and races.

The United States is our home, and I am proud to be an American, not a hyphenated American, just an average, everyday American, I don’t dwell on it too much but I honestly have to say, I have no use for African-Americans, if you are a citizen of this nation then by God be an AMERICAN, if you aren’t happy with being an average American, then go to Africa for a while, you’ll be begging to come back to the good old USA and swear your undying allegiance to Her.

Recently I have been called a racist, a bigot, a redneck and several other names, but you know, I’m not a member of the NAAWP, oh, wait, we don’t have that, I’m not a member of the WHITE Chamber of Commerce, dang, we don’t have that either.

My kids don’t have a United White Folks College Fund to fall back on, they don’t get to watch White Entertainment Network, simply because those things just don’t exist, if they did the NAACP would be all up in the air, Al $harpton would be marching and Je$$ie Jack$on would be suing everything in sight.

I see a lot of racism in this nation but a tremendous amount of it seems to be coming from the black side of the racial equation, a BLACK National anthem? Tell me that’s not a racist slap in the face to every red blooded American.

A healthy portion of the black community needs to lose their attitude, no one alive today ever owned a slave, no one OWES you a damned thing, you have the very same opportunity for educational and career success as any other person in this great nation, lose the victim mentality and the welfare mentality and I believe that you’ll find that the advances that can be made by blacks will be beyond the expectations of anyone.

Call me and my friends racists? O.K., here’s what you need to do, look in the mirror, look yourself in the eye and ask yourself, just how much of a racist am I? Then answer yourself honestly.

Racial equality will only happen when all races become color blind and work as a nation united, not a nation divided!

This whole thing is just asinine … Hickenlooper is flipping more than a John Kerry on a Swift boat hook. The woman is changing her story all over the place.

The worst part about this is that crazy liberals everywhere are applauding what she did and actually think she’s patriotic.

The fact that the term Black National Anthem even exists sickens me to my very core. FUCK these people. Fuck them. Fuck their friends. Fuck their pets…fuck them and anyone that stands up for them.

On a side note…….Fred give this a look…Blog about it if you like, it’d help.

The woman said she’s very sorry and meant no disrespect….BULL. Her creative expression wasn’t a love for this country, that’s for sure.

What she did though was ensure herself a permanent visiting pass to the White House if Obama gets elected. She’ll become the hero of the liberal left and most likely to sing at Obama’s inauguration, if he’s elected.

On a brighter note, twenty years ago today the USS Vincennes celebrated the 4th of July by shooting down an Iranian airliner filled with future terrorists. The airliner assumed an attack posture as it approached the Warship and failed to transmit the proper IFF codes. What a way to celebrate: And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air.

Just as when we criticize Hussein, we are racists too. One much watch themselves in the land of free speech.

Spam alert: I posted a video from Katrina showing exactly how the government comes and takes our guns!

And when(if?) Obama Osama and his hair brained wife get their feet inside the White House, this type crap will be the norm? And the media will love it!

    …And I’m a Racist bigot.

Some American can’t even honor the country in which she’s a citizen by singing the NATIONAL ANTHEM; but speak against it, and voila, instant noteriety.

The hypocricy of the left is astounding.

I am appalled at the city and their mayor. This woman needs to be reminded that she lives in the United States of America. If she wants to sing the BLACK National Anthem, then she should take her little BLACK ass over to BLACK Africa and sing it there.

And this makes me a racist too. But there is a word that describes her. It starts with an “N”.

Wow Katie, I really wish you wouldn’t hold back like that, just go ahead and say what’s on your mind, you’ll feel a lot better if you do… :P

    I have nothing to add.

I’m pretty sure those who know me know how I feel.

To determine if something with a black slant is racist, just reverse it. Imagine if someone sang something called the “white” national anthem.

It’s amazing how clear things become when you do the switch a roo.

all I can say to TexasFred’s rant is AMEN. The entire Oprah / Jesse / Al contingent are the most racially divisive jerks this country has to offer. It’s OK for them to call us WF whatever they want, but when we point out their hypocrisy, it’s all over the media. What a crock of crapp.

Supposedly, the b*tch apologized to the mayor, then turned around and told some libby that she didn’t. And they wonder….can’t we all just get along? Well, they can all bite my big ol’ white Irish-American Indian ass! And shove the hyphens where the sun don’t shine! Martin Luther King, Jr should be at about launch velocity by now with all the spinning in his grave. If one more person “of color” invokes his name, and then turns around and shovels more of their leftist bullsh*t down MY throat……

    Whew….I feel better now. :)

Thank you, Fred. This needed to be said. The audacity of these people who, if whites or hispanics or asian or (take your pick) did the same thing, the NAACP, the ACLU, BET, SCOTUS, and any other biased organization you can name would be up in arms. The poor unfortunate one who happened not to be black would probably be languishing in jail. Most, probably 98%, of blacks think the same way when push comes to shove. It’s their race, not their country or their fellow countrymen, that is paramount in their minds.

It sickens me that these people can’t understand that we live the United States of America. How can we “all just get along” when this is their mindset?!
