Texas: Man should be executed despite World Court objection

August 3rd, 2008 . by TexasFred

HOUSTON (AP) — The planned execution this week of a man convicted in one of Houston’s most brutal murder cases in a generation has become among the most contentious in the state that has the nation’s busiest capital punishment system.

International attention has been focused on the execution of convicted killer Jose Medellin scheduled for Tuesday.

The International Court of Justice, also known as the World Court, said the Mexican-born Medellin and some 50 other Mexicans on death row around the nation should have new hearings in U.S. courts to determine whether a 1963 treaty was violated during their arrests.

Medellin, now 33, is the first among the 50 who is set to die.

His attorneys contend Medellin was denied the protections of the Vienna Convention, which calls for people arrested to have access to their home country’s consular officials. He has been in the United States since the age of 3.

“The United States’ word should not be so carelessly broken, nor its standing in the international community so needlessly compromised,” Medellin’s attorneys said, seeking a reprieve in a filing late last week with the U.S. Supreme Court. The high court had not issued any ruling as of Sunday.

Texas: Man should be executed despite World Court’s objection

If you’re an ILLEGAL INVADER loving, faux conservative RINO that feels total empathy for the *poor undocumented immigrant* that you believe is only here to better himself, you’re not going to like what I have to say regarding this execution.

Execute this murdering bastard, and get it done NOW!

The World Court and their band of merry liberalness have NO bearing on TEXAS, none, this sorry excuse for a human being committed the most vile crime a human can commit.

The very fact that this animal is still breathing air is wrong, the very fact that there is ANY problem with the him being executed is beyond all logical belief.

So what if he was born in Mexico, big deal. He’s been in THIS nation for 30 years and as such, should be subjected to OUR laws and our punishments, the World Court be DAMNED! No criminal should EVER get a *free pass* simply because they are not born here, if you commit a crime in the USA, the laws OF this USA should dictate your punishment.

President Bush has asked states to review the cases. Texas has refused to budge.

And by God I applaud the great state of Texas for NOT budging. There must be a line drawn in the sand, the ILLEGALS, criminals and invaders, can’t be allowed to get by with any crime, and then claim some kind of *immunity* due to their place of birth.

The line was drawn in the sand the 1st time at The Alamo, in February of 1836, and for almost 2 weeks a handful of TEXAS Patriots held off the Mexican army, then the Army of Texas, under Sam Houston, repelled the Mexican army and freed Texas.

There’s a lot more of us this time Mexico, and this time, we’re very well armed.

yeah, Fred. I agree with you although generally I am against capital punishment..I figure killing the sumbitch is not punishment..it just puts him out of his misery.

My idea of punishment is busting rocks with a 20 pound sledge hammer while on bread and water..just work him to death and that whole time he can be thinking about why he is being punished and worked to death..hell, might even serve as a deterrent. But one thing for certain..killing him will insure he does not kill anyone else!

Texas should refuse to budge. The other involved states should refuse to budge. This is a sovereign nation that should hold to what is in ITS best interest. I am not a citizen of the World. I am not an advocate of the United Nations. I believe it is the DUTY and the OBLIGATION of every elected official to look out for “our” collective national interests. It is also the duty of other nations to look out for theirs. As I am fond of saying and writing at work: “It is my job to do MY job; it is not my job to do YOURS.”

I advocate capital punishment for one sole salient reason: the perpetrator shall not offend again.

The states should be free to act according to the laws of those individual states. And the World Court may blaze a path straight to Hell.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, with pride every time.

    God bless Texas.

Idiots like that keep popping up, and we will have to give that whole secession thing a real serious thought.
After all, you figured they would all know better than to even bother asking us Texans to budge. Our line in the sand is not just our limit, it is part of what defines us.

This world court, how big is it’s army? Are they going to invade?

Well, then it’s settled. A shame they don’t hang him. At noon. From a tree on the State Capitol grounds.

By the way, when I was overseas in Japan and Korea, we were told we were subject to the laws of the host country, and the U.S. government and U.S. military would not intervene if we were arrested. So, host country rules it is.

San Francisco needs to learn a thing or 2 from Texas. They let an illegal alien felon go free because of their benighted “sanctuary city” policy. He murdered 3 people.

This cold blooded killer won’t face the death penalty; it offends the sensibilities of the goo-goos who live there.

This World Court bovine feces needs some clarification, as in; You people don’t rule here. They are also the ones that are always trying to bring our troops up on charges.

Screw this killer. Kill his ass and be done with him.

“World freakin’ court”? Who gives a happy crap what they say! One bullet, square between the eyes. No muss. No fuss. Expediency.

Same for any other murdering ILLEGAL POS.

This is the sort of issue that the ‘War Between the States’ was actually fought over. The Fed’s have since 1860 said they are the final authority on every damn thing and we all know where this has led. Into a bloated Fed bureaucracy that doesn’t give a damn about its citizens. And where the ‘rights’ of some murdering bastard from Mexico are more important than what that murdering bastard actually did.
