AUSTIN – U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison said Thursday she hasn’t been asked to be John McCain’s running mate, despite speculation that she’s a possible choice for the No. 2 spot on the Republican ticket. The Texas senator told a gathering of the Texas Association of Counties that she doesn’t have plans to be in Ohio on Friday, where McCain could announce his vice presidential pick.
Hutchison later told reporters she believes McCain has already made his choice. And she reiterated that she wasn’t asked.“As you all know I said very early on that my sights were a different place and I did not want to be considered,” said the senator, who has hinted that she might run for Texas governor in 2010.

KBH tried her very best to *back door* the *Amnesty Act*, it was at that point in time that I lost ALL respect for her, and up until that time I thought she was nothing less than absolutely awesome.
If you enjoyed this post, make sure you subscribe to my RSS feed! And yes, rumor has it she wants to retire from the Senate, come home to run for Governor of Texas in 2010.
I hope she has a good retirement package from the Senate, because she’s doing her last turn as Senator I believe, and I know that MANY of us here in Texas will work as hard as we possibly can to keep her OUT of the Governors Office. The most legendary Lady Lawmaker in Texas history, none other than Kay Bailey Hutchison herself, supported this travesty, Immigrant Dream Act Fails Key Senate Vote.
In one vote Kay Bailey Hutchison went from being the toast of Texas to being the most talked about, back stabbing turncoat in modern Texas history. I personally wrote 3 letters to Hutchison, asking about this unbelievable vote, and I got NO response, not even a *canned* courtesy message from a staffer. As one of the comment makers on DN.com said, “If McCain were to pick Hutchison, that would be the END of his run for the Whitehouse.”, and that pretty much says it all. We don’t need the entire Executive Branch in love with ILLEGAL immigration.

I always thought she was good too until that amnesty vote came up. It’s a shame how they support the “party” instead of the people that elect them.
It’s really too bad that individual states can’t set the salaries and benefits of their elected Senators and Representatives. No voting themselves a raise, the people of each state would vote the raise. That would sure make them walk more in line with their constituents.
The word out is that it is Romney. A safe choice. I’m still hoping for someone with some balls.
Starting to look like *the word* ain’t too reliable… Sarah Palin may have *guts*, and she does have a great set, but they aren’t balls…
