McCain: Time Short for Immigration Bill

NEWTON, Iowa (AP) - Republican presidential hopeful John McCain said Saturday that time is running out on overhauling immigration policy.

“We’ve got other things to do in the Senate,” McCain told reporters. “Hopefully we can come to an agreement, but in all candor - a little straight talk - time is not on our side.”

McCain also challenged opponents of the plan to step up.

“The status quo is de facto amnesty - fact,” the Arizona senator said. “So for us to do nothing and celebrate the fact that we stopped this legislation, well then those who have a better idea can give it to us. We can consider it and move forward.”

A comprehensive plan supported by McCain, President Bush and a group of bipartisan senators fell 15 votes short of the 60 needed on Thursday in a critical test to limit debate and allow a vote on the measure itself. As a result, many in Washington have declared major immigration changes are dead for now.

McCain, though, said it was possible to pass a bill.

(snip)

“People want us to resolve this issue. The majority of Americans support a comprehensive approach to it,” McCain said.

McCain: Time Short for Immigration Bill

OK, I meant EVERY word I said, ANY so-called Republican and/or Conservative that supports this BS bill will be getting blasted on this blog, and I intend to especially focus on any Repub that’s running for POTUS…

I have said this before and I WILL say it again, as many times as is necessary, John McCain is an IDIOT, John McCain is NOT a Repub in any way other than the label he gives himself, McCain is more of a liberal Dem than most liberal Dems are, he is the classic example of what a RINO looks like…

John McCain is a TRAITOR to this nation, he will gladly uphold ’some’ of the laws of this nation, the ones that he and his buddies Kennedy and Feingold write, anything that will screw America, THAT is what John McCain stands for…

I have said this before as well, if YOU are a John McCain supporter, you are about to see what a loser looks like, and to the people of Arizona that keep electing this asshat to office, you’re idiots, you CAN do better than this, and if you don’t STAND and dump this wetback lover from the Senate, you deserve whatever ILLEGAL INVASION befalls you, and if this hurts your feeling, too damn bad…

What a bunch of malarkey! (You know in Danish ‘malarkey’ is “fup”.. :-) I’ll have to remember that.) NONE of the Americans I know, republicans and democrats, support this garbage. NOT a ONE!

And as for opponents stepping up.. they have been, but for some reason those ‘illustrious’ congressmen (and women) that support (sc)amnesty are sitting around with their fingers stuck in their ears chanting ‘lalalalala.. I can’t hear you, lalalalala’. What they need to do is get the wax (and fingers) out and LISTEN for a change.

Mr. Mc Cain, you want a better idea than the current amnesty bill?

Here’s one- START ENFORCING THE EXISTING LAWS. Then see what needs to be done.

  3. Ranando Says:

McCain and the others should not have to be told what we want, they should know what we want.

Secure borders, why is this so hard to understand?

Until I hear someone running for President say, “I will close our borders”. I’m still open.

I want Fred Thompson to say it, now. If he doesn’t say it soon he will lose my support. I’m not voting for anyone that doesn’t make that statement, period. I want to support Mr. Thompson, does he want to support me?

I am so sick of listening to this bull about how Americans want this bill to pass. That is a lie.

Mitt Romney had it right at the last debate when he called for enforcing the laws we have already.

McCain is so far out of touch with reality it hurts, US…

  6. Ranando Says:

These people, McCain and POTUS don’t have to deal with this problem like you and I do.

They’re protected by their S.S. details and armed personal.

I wonder if they would be willing to take their fences down and leave their front doors open?

  7. GUYK Says:

Hmmm, didn’t the House pass a pretty good immigration bill last year? Seems that I remember that the public supported the bill which called for plugging the holes in the borders and deporting the illegal immigrants. Works for me. I cannot support ANY bill that offers amnesty to criminals and illegal immigrants
ARE criminals by virtue of breaking our laws by just being in country.

Don’t look at me - I quit supporting him when his philosophy turned liberally Democrat a few years ago. Heck, he’s more of a Democrat than Ed Pastor - who, by the way, also thinks this latest version is “just the ticket” for the “immigration issue.”

Why do they call it the immigration issue? PC, of course - because everyone who has more than an ounce of viable gray matter realizes that this is an invasion, not an “issue”.
