Joe Biden to Withdraw as Democratic Vice Presidential Candidate

Joe Biden to Withdraw as Democratic Vice Presidential Candidate

There’s a new rumor going around the ‘net and a few political circles:

On or about October 5, 2008, Joe Biden will announce his resignation from the race as Barack Obama’s vice presidential running mate. He will cite health reasons and quietly withdraw. Hillary Clinton is poised to take his place as the Democratic vice presidential candidate. Or so this latest rumor goes.

Emails are flying, text messages are zinging around and it is all, at this point in time, nothing more than a rumor.

As I was reading this story I was finding the original authors thoughts to be pretty much in line with mine, it would be a good shot in the arm for the Hillary supporters, right up until the time that the cold, hard truth sets in.

The fact of the matter is this, Obama can’t lead a one car funeral, how can he be expected to lead this nation? The man is indecisive and very inexperienced, with NO leadership experience in business, the military or even state or local government, and a move such as this would only serve to reinforce that notion.

If Biden were to withdraw, he would have to appear to withdraw by his own decision, and even that would throw the Democrats into a tail spin. There could be NO impression given that Biden was being asked, or forced to step down, especially if the replacement were to be Hillary Clinton.

I am seriously thinking that IF there is a plan such as this being made, and IF it’s going to happen, it IS already in the works. IF Biden were to suddenly pop up with health problems, it’s got to be a put-up set of circumstances, a planned change in the course of action taken by the Democrats.

Hillary Clinton would literally jump at the chance to step into the VP slot, that is a known fact, regardless of what she or her husband say, and if past performance is ANY indicator, she would use whatever methods necessary to assume the office of POTUS, and would employ any and all tactics that would help her to achieve that goal. You doubt that? The Clinton Death List

Barack Obama is NOT a very smart man, that is obvious when he speaks off prompter. He picked Joe Biden to be his VPOTUS running mate, that says a lot about the Senator from Illinois as well, even he knows that his weaknesses are many. How he ever expected Biden to be the one to pull him through is beyond me, Biden brings more baggage to the campaign than anyone else would have dreamed of.

But to replace Biden at this point in time, whether it be by orders of Obama, as it likely would, or if it were given to the MSM as Sen. Biden has health concerns, the American public would immediately see through this for exactly what it is.

In conclusion, it is MY opinion that if such a radical event were to occur, it would result in the total and immediate demise of the Obama campaign.

Obama himself would be looked upon as the most incredible flip-flopper that has ever assumed the campaign trail, and that would be the most incredible gift Sen. Obama could ever give the Conservative and Republican bloggers of this nation.

If Biden were to suddenly withdraw for health reasons, he’ll have a lot of explaining to do of wanting to be President.

An Obama/Clinton White House would be a constant power struggle. There’s no way on God’s Green Earth that Bill and Hillary are going to take a back seat to some wet behind the ears upstart like Obama. Also, if Obama did manage to win with Hillary as his VP, he would screw her chances of ever becoming President. Eight years from now Hillary isn’t going to look good at all and there’s no way people will elect her President.

  2. Right Truth says:

I’ve been hearing this for some time, don’t have anything for sure on it. I’m not sure it would be a good move for Obama now. He’s already thrown Hillary under the bus, women are mad, men are mad, doing a 180 won’t help his decision-making image any. Flip - Flop.

  3. Katie says:

If he cites health reasons he better give up his Senate seat, for he is running for re-election.

And if he does do this, then they hand the election to McCain. For it shows a lack of judgment on Obama’s part.

This would be one of the biggest political blunders in history.

  4. rtaylor83305 says:

I have said this a hundred times - I seriously doubt Hillary would play second fiddle to that loser. It is not how the Clintons have operated since they were in Arkansas. It is all or nothing with them.

If she DOES take the VP slot, it sets Obama up if elected for an eight year term. If she doesn’t, than she gets another shot in four years. I still think an Obama/Obiden loss would be what she and Bill are hoping for to set themelves up to save the party… Just my opinion… 🙂

  5. Basti says:

IMO this is just another rumor. I think such a move would cost the Dem’s more votes than it would gain.

Of course if it were to happen Obama would have to wear plate armor on his back.

  6. Bluto says:

I’m with Basti on this one. Damn internet is full of “fully documented beyond a shadow of a doubt” stories that some foaming-at-the-mouth wacko just discovered. I don’t believe it.

But, it is quite revealing though. It really shows how desperate Obama supporters have become. They know they have an empty suit, yet they can’t let go of their fantasy. Pretty f**king pathetic.

  7. Gawfer says:

If it happens, it will show incredibly poor judgment on Obama’s part for selecting Biden which will burden their campaign, and if Hillary Steps in it will bolster their campaign.

The selling feature for Palin still remains: she has earned everything she has on her own merit; not because of her father’s influence or riding on her husband’s coattails.

The one thing you can always count on is not being able to count on the Democrats. They change directions like the wind.

  8. Carl Andrews says:

I’ve also been seeing this rumor flying around for the past few seeks, but I don’t think it’s going to happen for a couple of reasons.
Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and the like would have a field day with this were it to happen. Hell, even the MSM might wonder as to the truth of Biden’s “illness.”
Idon’t think it would fly with Hillary supporters, as it wouldn’t take them long to realize it was a pandering, desperation move on Obama’s part.
Finally, if the offer WERE to be made, Hillary would be foolish to accept it. If she takes it, and Obama wins, she possibly waits 8 years before getting a chance at the big chair. If he looses, her future prospects take a big hit. I can hear it now: “As popular as Obama was, she STILL couldn’t help him.”
If, on the other hand, she sits this one out, she is in an excellent position for 2012, regardless of who wins this time out.

  9. StormWarning says:

lBill Clinton: Hillary didn’t want the vice presidency

  10. Carl says:

As far as it being a rumor, I think that’s all it will turn out to be.

    But if…

In case it does happen, two words: political suicide.

  11. Kate says:

Some of the emails I’ve seen say some really odd things, like he’s going to have an aneurysm. Jeeez.

On the serious side…. I wonder if BO’s drooling acolytes even notice Biden. Nothing that POS does, or has done, seems to faze them. He could probably shoot the guy himself, point blank, on live TV, and he’d still be “THE ONE”.

  12. ablur says:

I don’t think it will ever happen. They had to use a collisium to get all three heads into the room at the convention.

    Hillary couldn’t take being #2.

  13. nannykaren says:

Well Fred I thought I was the only one who had thought of “The Clinton Death List.” The Clintons sure have dodged the bullet on that list, have they not?
Biden did get awful quite after Sarah Palin entered the picture. I have wondered why. But I really don’y think Hillary would want to play second fiddle, but hey, stranger things have happened.
Obama, with all of his lies will finally do him in. A leader he is NOT.

  14. Tish says:

    Wow!

That would make this soap opera THAT more interesting if that occurs.

    But I agree with ablur…”hillary couldn’t take being #2″

Didn’t once VP describe the position as bout as bad as a hot pot of spit…or something like that.

  15. Faultline USA says:

It most likely is a rumor but I got this yesterday:

“Have you heard anything about this?

No Biden Rumor: No Obama-Biden Campaign Materials in Obama Offices

The rumors don’t seem to be going away, so we addressed it by spending yesterday visiting Obama offices in 3 states and calling others.”

  16. Kate says:

A Memphis blogger came across something disturbing, and very funny at the same time.

    http://olbroad.com/2008/09/21/ack-7/

    I nearly had a heart attack. I seriously hope it’s a joke!

  17. 2cents says:

I agree with the consensus on here. This is just a rumor until a real source is identified, and should only be treated as such.

I also agree that Hillary would not likely take the VP spot under Obama - if she helped him succeed, she would be almost 70 before ‘her turn’ at the Presidency, and I just don’t believe she’s that patient. And, don’t forget the sheer animosity between Michelle and Hillary…it’s just not going to happen!

I don’t think Obama would ever recover from the shakeup, either. The only thing he has right now is his ‘judgment’, and this would completely destroy that assertion. It would also smack of the me-too syndrome, adding a woman to his ticket.

It would be political suicide…but so much fun to watch! I hope it’s true!

  18. Pandora39 says:

Quite frankly I don’t care if all four candidates withdraw from the race. The only ticket I could full heartly support in November is: Warren Buffet for president and T. Boone Pickens for vice-president. With these two gentlemen at the helm we might have a chance to get this country back on a conservative fiscal track. No more socialism for Wall Street. No more dependence on foreign oil. And then our grandchildren and great-grandchildren wouldn’t have to pay for the excesses of the last fifty years.

They are both so rich they wouldn’t be tempted by lobbist money. They both know how to handle financing. And they are both so old they probably wouldn’t be tempted to run for a second team.

But this is just a dream of a fiscal conservative.

  19. cary - Botan Ichihara says:

Biden bows out, and Hillary steps in?

The Dems will be seen as the pandering panderers they are, and trying to re-steal the thunder from the party that proved they (R) are out to try to change.
