KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) – An enormous bomb ripped through a police academy bus at Kabul’s busiest transportation hub Sunday, killing at least 35 people in the deadliest insurgent attack in Afghanistan since the U.S.-led invasion in 2001. The Taliban claimed responsibility.
The thunderous explosion in Kabul, which sheared the metal sidings and roof off the bus, leaving only a charred skeleton, represented a leap in scale from previous Taliban or al-Qaida bombings here, raising the specter of an increase in Iraq-style attacks in Afghanistan.
In the country’s south, a roadside explosion killed three soldiers from the U.S.-led coalition and their Afghan interpreter. The brief statement about the blast in Kandahar province did not disclose the soldiers’ nationalities. The three deaths bring to 84 the number of U.S. or NATO soldiers killed in Afghanistan this year, including at least 40 Americans.

I just want to point this out, for those that may have missed it, we DID have Afghanistan under control, for the most part, before we foolishly diverted massive resources to Iraq… Just sayin’…
And to those that say there WILL be a successful democracy in the region, and that radical Islam can be overcome and persuaded to embrace said democracy, it is NOT going to happen, and we have over a thousand years of history standing in testament to that statement…
We’ve been in Afghanistan a lot longer than we’ve been in Iraq and from all appearances it seems the Taliban, and/or al-Qaida, or whatever the catch word of the day is, has made a come back move…
I wonder, can a Bush surge take care of that too?? Had we ‘stayed the course’ where the course truly was, instead of running off on a mission to depose the man that threatened ‘Daddy’, we’d quite likely be in a much stronger position today, but alas, A.D.D. is NOT a good quality in your CiC…
And to those that are practically orgasmic over a VIDEO purporting some of Saddams people talking to some of bin Laden’s people, well folks, that’s the way the real world works, OUR people talked to Saddams people, and very likely to bin Laden’s people as well, we talk to China, Russia, North Korea, countries in Southeast Asia, all over the world, many Muslim controlled nations that have sworn to attack us, and kill us, but we still TALK to them, that’s called ‘doing business’, it’s called diplomacy, all nations do it, sometimes it’s all ‘above board’ and sometimes it’s strictly ‘under the table’ but it’s what makes the world go round…

There’s some folks that are still grasping at straws in their desperate attempt to vindicate Bush 43 in all matters relating to Iraq, Afghanistan and terrorism in general, but the facts are it’s not just Bush 43, Clinton had bin Laden all but handed to him, and he blew it, Bush 41 called General H. Norman Schwarzkopf off as he was about to march into Baghdad and take Saddam apart, and that was at a time when we DID have a coalition of support and world opinion was on OUR side…
Our current president, his predecessor, and our presidents own father before that, have done more to destroy the military and intelligence gathering capacity of this nation than any terrorist ever has and they have all overlooked, ignored or just did not care about the advice they received from extremely competent military advisers…
Case in point, look at the situation in Iraq and Afghanistan as it stands right now, and the steady shakeup of high level commanders that is running it’s course all the way to the top of the Joint Chiefs…
We are seeing an administration in trouble, much like a poor swimmer in rough, deep water, with no life jacket and no obvious way out…
Well Fred…I just don’t know what to say. You just make too much sense. There is an option. We could just take over. We can do that. The people will better off for it – and they will no longer be a threat to us. I vote for it. Oh well…

First off Fred, Happy Happy Fathers day Big Fred, hope it was good to you yesterday.
Fred, I respectfully disagree on the Iraq thing only because if let loose the soldiers woulda’ cleaned up that sh**hole in month or so as we normal thinking people know. But seeing it’s being micromanaged and cluster***ked by the loon left congress every which way but loose, the terrorists in Afghanistan are just following the somewhat successful gameplan being used by the terrosists in Iraq.
That plan is car bomb any friggin thing you can, step back and let the liberals and western MSM do the rest!!
Aside from flattening the whole darn region (which would only inconvenience the heroine addicts of the world essentially) if we continue to force the soldiers to fight like liberals then we might as well pull em all out, arm both sides and let em kill each others off, period.
Then Maggie we go in and take over the oil fields in Iraq that is. Just turn Afghanistan into a huge forest preserve after all the humans are eliminated by the warring tribes (lol to all folks that think I’m really serious, just dreaming)
Nope, radical Islam will never accept democracy simply because Islam is a form of dictatorship. Everyone must give total submission to the top dog, the head ayatollah who of course is anointed or whatever by Allah, aka Satan. This is why all the Islamic countries are so easily dominated by dictators, secular or Fundamentalist.
The muslims have been spreading the lie that Islam is the “worlds fastest growing religion” and a lot of people have sucked this right up as gospel. In point of fact, Islam is in decline. The fastest growing religion is Wicca, of all things, followed closely by Falun Gong, and then Christianity.
So with tongue in cheek, I suggest that we take a page from the muslims book and force them all to convert to Wicca or be beheaded. Tortured first, of course.
Ok. Seriously. We may never free the planet of Islam. We did it with smallpox but the disease still lives in the refrigerators of madmen and can come back among us someday. Likewise Islam could be stuffed into the secular closet but it could always erupt again. Even so, like smallpox we are better off with it secular than not. This is the end we should be working toward, and the best way to do this is to kill off the imams, shut down the mosques and give preferential treatment to those who will sell out to us.
Do things like take over the prayer rug industry and make really cheap, flimsy rugs and contaminate them with nasty little viruses and allergens, and make them the only ones available. Confiscate korans any way possible, have exchange programs for “slightly modified” new korans that elevate the status of women, eliminate the terrorist speeches and so forth, and paint infidels as being a little superior to muslims.
Get groups of young people to openly laugh at and ridicule older people who pray in public. Stuff like that. Conduct a psychological campaign against Islam that encourages people to abandon it. Vandalize mosques with rotten pig entrails, create disgust and a sense of aversion. Make it really uncomfortable to be a muslim.
That’s how to win this war.

And yeah, “fight like liberals” is a great way of putting it, and I totally agree, if we’re not going to let them do their job, it’s WAY past time to leave a place we really never should have gone to in the 1st place…
I kind of like the idea of boiling all the imams and ayatollas on hog lard myself, just to take the above one step further. Can’t wait to hear Basti on this one!
