WASHINGTON (AP) - The Army is considering whether it will have to extend the combat tours of troops in Iraq if President Bush opts to maintain the recent buildup of forces through spring 2008.
Acting Army Secretary Pete Geren testified Tuesday that the service is reviewing other options, including relying more heavily on Army reservists or Navy and Air Force personnel, so as not to put more pressure on a stretched active-duty force.
Most soldiers spend 15 months in combat with a guaranteed 12 months home, a rotation plan that already has infuriated Democrats because it exceeds the service’s goal of giving troops equal time home as in combat. In coming weeks, the Senate will vote on a proposal by Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., that would restrict deployments.
“It’s too early to look into the next year, but for the Army we have to begin to plan,” Geren told the Senate Armed Services Committee. “We have to look into our options.”

Army Considers Longer Combat Tours Again
Is this a good story for the Army and DoD to be putting out to the MSM?? Hello?? Do you think that our enemies maybe read the news services too??
Or, is this an act of disinformation?? Designed to confuse and confound our enemies as they attempt to discern exactly what the real situation is??
Is Fred Thompson really kicking Rudy’s ass in the current polls or is that a political campaign ploy designed to throw folks off the track??
Are some of the right wing blogs that are heavily criticising the President serious in that criticism or are they merely baiting the left and doing the bidding of the White House as they lull the terrorists into thinking there’s a strain of dissent in the Republican party and the American people??
Are we sucking them in to our trap or are we really that messed up?? Well, that’s for the terrorist to find out I guess, and when they DO figure it all out, maybe they’ll show their faces…
And now that we’ve thrown that one out there, maybe the terrorists are even more confused as they wonder, is it real?? Or is it Memorex??
I am forever amazed at the ‘secret’ and ‘classified’ info that keeps leaking into the MSM from ‘confidential sources’.
That it is printed confirms to me that the MSM could care less about the safety of our soldiers, the people of this country or this nation as a whole.
PersonallyI would love to see the Bush administration using the MSM to their advantage, deliberately releasing fake info to confuse our enemies, without AND within our borders.
