I want to thank all of you for the comments, and I am in agreement that YES, it is their blog and they can run it any way they like, and I think that's a RIGHT we all have as blog owners...

I am so glad to see that the vast majority of you believe it was a tacky and idiotic thing for a Mod to do by making a PUBLIC warning over something so trivial as the word ASSHAT...

And 2 of you have seriously made me wonder, the PCness exhibited was way more than I would have expected.. :?

To sum it up, I personally don't think ASSHAT is profane, a cuss word or in any way inappropriate, I don't think referring to Nifong AS an ASSHAT was calling people names or an appeal to emotion, it was the truth, plain and simple and if anyone is offended by that word it might be a real damn good idea to stay the hell off of my blog, because they're gonna hear a lot worse bullshit that that lame-assed word...

Just sayin' ... ;-)

Rick Moran is, in MY opinion, and that of a few others that have worked with him, a dickhead of the highest order and sometimes believes that his shit doesn't stink...

And I was NOT banned, for those that missed the 4 or 5 times I said I wasn't banned, I was threatened, and to me anyone that would stoop so low as to issue a threat to anyone on the 'net is actually pretty damned stupid, what's Moran gonna do?? Ban a bunch of people from Malkin's comments??

She hasn't HAD comments until 2 or 3 days ago because she closed them, because they got totally out of control with attacks, and she'll have to close em again, because bullshit like this and assholes like Rick Moran are going to give her a bad name even among Conservatives, and let's face it, Malkin is so damned moody, the comments will likely go away again and no one will be able to interact with the egotistical bunch of pricks anyway...

And one other thing Malkin failed to put in her rules, it's OK for her to do wrong by others, but by God don't cross her, she WILL publish your real name, address and home phone number if she can get a hold of it, she HAS done it in the past, but damn the hypocritical side came out when the favor was returned...

Imagine that...

I'm late to the party here, but honestly, even though I try (emphasis on try) not to use four lettered words, I don't see ASSHAT as a four lettered word. :/ Guess I'm just weird that way. :)

Asshat is pretty mild language. Sounds like the blogger who punted you off his blog has an emotional problem. It may have something to do with his mother when he was a child, or maybe an uncle...

If you weren't banned and were just warned, no harm, no foul on either side. Every site owner, webmaster or desiignated surrogate has the last word, like it or not. But if the intent of this discussion is to submit criticism of the 'moderator' to the blog owner in question, you can tell the blog owner for me the moderator is an asshat. :-)

I don't view asshat as being profanity. Ass and bitch are both acceptable words that have been assigned far too much weight by the p.c. crowd.

I see nothing wrong with using the word asshat! Being banned for it seems a bit extreme considering Nifong is an asshat lol. If those were his rules then I think he should have warned you instead of banning you the 1st offense.

The word, on my blog, would get you a private "*a-hem* language, please" note, certainly not a public drubbing. And I wouldn't threaten to ban you for the first offense; my gosh, a warning shot across the bow before the broadside is customary.

While the MOD may have been following the "rules" there was no need to make a public scene.

Offensive? Maybe. Descriptive? Only of about 98% of the Career Politicians in this country, and 99.9% of the lawyers. Bannable offense for first time use? Certainly not.

Fred,

Although I don't think ASSHAT is profane I agree with Ed's post. I was raised that when I'm in someone elses house I'm compelled to follow their rules. If I don't like the rules I leave. If the rules change at any time during my visit and I don't happen to like the new rules I leave. If I'm asked to leave, I leave.

I have a pretty open blog and have very few folks who happen to comment on my posts (says a lot for the blog, eh? LOL). But, I've only shown one individual the door. Not because he was crude, profane or whatever but because he didn't respect the surviving family of a law enforcement officer who was killed by a drunk driver the night before the blog visitor opted to post to his offensive and very crude comments. His comments were posted to my personal memorial to my fallen friend, associate, proud father and devoted husband. I intercepted the post early enough to ensure my deceased friend's family never had to read the comments and I never had to tell the offending individual to cease and desist a second time... I'll give him that much. He knew his comments weren't appreciated or acceptable on my blog.

I guess where I'm going with this is that this guy comes into the blog via a search engine, posted a comment that didn't sit well with me, had the comment removed by me, wrote an email to me explaining his "opinion" but opted to refrain from further posts.

I can understand "moderating" comments at times though I haven't asked folks to refrain from using "ASSHAT". But that's up to the blog's owner I guess.

Anyways, "ASSHAT" is not a "bad word".

Hope I wasn't too long winded on this one.
