Lugar says Iraq plan not working
WASHINGTON - Sen. Richard Lugar, a senior Republican and a reliable vote for President Bush on the war, said Monday that Bush’s Iraq strategy was not working and that the United States should downsize the military’s role.
The unusually blunt assessment deals a political blow to Bush, who has relied heavily on GOP support to stave off anti-war legislation.
It also comes as a surprise. Most Republicans have said they were willing to wait until September to see if Bush’s recently ordered troop buildup in Iraq was working.
“In my judgment, the costs and risks of continuing down the current path outweigh the potential benefits that might be achieved,” Lugar, R-Ind., said in a Senate floor speech. “Persisting indefinitely with the surge strategy will delay policy adjustments that have a better chance of protecting our vital interests over the long term.”

And the ‘house of cards’ continues to weaken, it hasn’t fallen yet, and likely, hopefully, it won’t, that would be bad for ALL of America and many parts of the world, but if the Bush house does stand in it’s current incarnation, it won’t be for lack of trying on GWB’s part…
I am not sure what the mental disorder is called when a national leader fails to listen to WE, THE PEOPLE, or what it is that causes him to ignore WE, THE PEOPLE as he has but whatever it is, approximately 73% of this nation has had ALL of it they want…
The Bush presidency is turning into nothing less than a disaster, what else can you call it when even your more devoted Republican supporters are turning on you because they know you’re wrong and they know you’re leading the USA down a path of destruction??
And with the coming election cycle here’s something else to consider, we had 4 years of Bush 41, 8 years of Bill Clinton, and we will have had 8 years of Bush 43 when it’s all over, said and done, that’s a total of 20 years that this nation has either had a Bush or a Clinton as president, and if Hillary were to get elected, even if for only 1 term, that would be a total of 24 years with only a Clinton or a Bush as president…
Fast forward to 2012, Hillary wants a 2nd term, Jeb Bush thinks his brothers BS has all been forgotten and he makes a run at the White House, if Hillary OR Jeb Bush were to be elected that would have had the USA under a Bush or Clinton presidency for 28 years, and if Jeb Bush DID get elected and was to seek and win a 2nd term, we’d be looking at a minimum of 32 years with nothing but a Bush or Clinton in the White House…
Look at the mess this nation is in NOW and ask yourself, can we afford to let this almost ‘royal’ dynasty swap continue??
I think not…

It’s a sad commentary on the state of this nation that we are left with a choice of the ‘lesser of two evils’ or not voting at all. It’s also sad that we don’t have any people who are elected as POTUS who have this nations interest at heart and not just the bottom line for business. Then again maybe its always been that way, because a quick glance at history really dose suggest that.
