PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (AP) – The sheriff’s department has developed a remarkably effective – and controversial – way of catching illegal immigrants: Deputies in patrol cars pull up to a construction site in force, and watch and see who runs.
Those who take off are chased down and arrested on charges such as trespassing, for cutting through someone else’s property, or loitering, for hiding out in someone’s yard, or reckless driving, for speeding off in a car.
U.S. immigration authorities are then given the names of those believed to be in this country illegally.
“It’s not wrong for them to run, but it’s not wrong for us to chase them either,” said Sheriff Frank McKeithen, who created his Illegal Alien Task Force in April to target construction sites in this Florida Panhandle county.
Now that is what I call genius in Law Enforcement and great utilization of manpower, equipment and money, that’s some seriously good planning in my opinion…
Immigrant advocates say the technique is repugnant, and the ACLU says its constitutionality is questionable.
The advocates are the ones that slip big bucks to those 64 traitors in the Senate that voted FOR the AMNESTY thing, and you just know the ACLU thinks it’s constitutionality is questionable, as far as they’re concerned, if it’s good for America, it’s constitutionality is questionable…
The sheriff said the raids are justified under a long-standing Florida law prohibiting employers from knowingly hiring illegal immigrants.
His department has conducted dozens of these raids over the past three months, sometimes using five or six patrol cars, and has reported more than 500 people to immigration officials since November.
And this falls in exactly with what I have been saying all along, we don’t NEED any more immigration laws, all we need to do is USE and ENFORCE the ones we have…
The Mexican American Legal Defense Fund is investigating the arrests because “the intimidation factor is of great concern,” said Elise Shore, regional counsel for the organization.
And at what point did the opinion of the Mexican American Legal Defense Fund become a factor in the enforcement of the laws of the United States of America?? What’s the deal?? They don’t quite understand the term ILLEGAL either??
Let’s see if this helps: Illegal –adjective
1) forbidden by law or statute.
2) contrary to or forbidden by official rules, regulations, etc.
Unless you’re a complete and total moron, just HOW hard can that definition be to understand??

When did we become a nation of pussies? When did we let our fears overwhelm us? I think we have. I think our fear is what is driving the right wing opposition to the current immigration bill. I think we are fearful for our jobs, our economy, our society and our culture.
I may not be right but I do not share that fear. I see great opportunity in tomorrow.
You got this one up here quick Fred, and I had just read it and headed over to see what you’d be saying..lol ..
I like your characterization of the “opponents” of the Floridian illegal eradication program. They are indeed the ones handing out that campaign cash hand over fist, as this is when and where they get their money’s worth from their man on woman on the hill.
Otherwise they turn in the politician to an unknown source who then calls the Times or whoever to reveal the truth or a couple of lewd photos taken when the politician took advantage of a favor or two., it was called blackmail in the old days. Today it’s called contributions.
And these stupid politicos are up to their necks in it and thats why the bill won’t die, the ones that are bought and paid for by the illegals advocates or what I call lobbyists can’t quit or they’ll be outed to the media as on the take.
