Every time this country is faced with war the public is way behind the curve. Entered WWI near the end. Only entered WWII after Pearl. Then Korea, Viet Nam, etc., etc. We were behind on defense before WWII. Had lost dog fighting skills by Viet Nam and hurried to correct. You get the idea.
Yup, Fred, it will take another extreme crisis to get the country behind the need. And then there will be no question to the meaning of shock and awe. There will be no deployments of boots on the ground but lots of smoke and craters.

R Willey: I agree with what you’re saying; I might disagree with you on a semantic point or two, nevertheless…

While I maintain a site known as “Right is Right” (which I’ve been attacked on by the mindless, “bleeding heart” Leftists), I also must state that while I, as a right-leaning individual, have tired of George Bush and the neocon crowd, will never call for the president’s impeachment, nor will I blame for causing terrorism. I will state unequivocally, that this war on terror probably started in 1979 (or even earlier, maybe 1948?) with the Islamic Revolution and the subsequent hostage crisis. We obviously underestimated the rage and power of the terrorists, thus the lack of action and their resulting future attacks (Marine barracks attack in 1983, countless plane hijackings, first Trade Center bombing, 1998 Embassy bombings, etc.)…

They despised us then for who we are/were…they continue to do the same. They have now completely entrapped the Left in their clutches; this a group that prides itself on all-encompassing multiculturism approach…although the Islamist abhors EVERYTHING the Left believes in: gay rights, women’s rights, LACK of religion, etc…

I don’t know who would have done more damage to our country….the global warming nut “Al Gore” or John Kerry, but after seeing the damage caused by the Bush administration it’s hard to believe that either of those possible choices would have been any worse. Bush will probably “stay the course” even if Laura and the dog desert him.

It’s taken some time, but I know understand Bush’s stubbornness on securing the border. It’s the North American Union. Folks thought this was just made up, but it’s for real. Bush wants it, open borders North and South. The terrorists can get in either way if they really want to, Iraq or not.

I seriously doubt we will see an attack on US soil in the near future, not because of Bush’s war fighting skills LMAO or his homeland protection policy another LMAO.
The reason for the inactivity of terrorsts here in the state is simple:
An attack on the US risks unifying a divided country against them, therefore they won’t attack here (for now) they will wait until a Dem is elected and see what surrender they can achieve first.

Good post. I have always said why don’t we fight them here? It’s cheaper, more efficient, more fun and we would have the home field advantage.

Earier this week, or maybe it was last week, GWB said that we have already learned that oceans won’t seperate us from the terrorists, which is true. Yet he doesn’t think our open southern border poses a threat to our security, I don’t understand the disconnect.
