Judge grants Obama request to suspend Gitmo trial

GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE, Cuba (AP) – A judge on Wednesday quickly granted President Barack Obama’s request to suspend the war crimes trial of a young Canadian in what may be the beginning of the end for the Bush administration’s system of trying alleged terrorists.

The judge, Army Col. Patrick Parrish, issued a one-sentence written order for the 120-day continuance, without even holding a hearing on the question. Another judge was expected to rule later Wednesday on a similar motion to suspend the trial of five men charged in the Sept. 11 attacks.

Prosecutors submitted the motions just hours after Obama’s inauguration at the direction of the president and Defense Secretary Robert Gates.

U.S. military prosecutor Clay Trivett said all pending cases should be suspended because a review of the military commissions system may result in significant changes. Obama has said he will close Guantanamo and many expect he will scrap the special war crimes court and direct that cases be prosecuted in the U.S.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I submit to you that we are already seeing the beginning of the end. The end of America as we have known it.

From now on we’re going to see headlines that read, ‘Obama requests blah blah blah blah’ and the very next headline will read, ‘U.S. Senate, Congress, SCOTUS, Federal Judges et al, give Obama everything he has asked for, in *other news*, the economy is still at rock bottom, the NASDAQ is down 400 points again for the 8th day in a row and shows no sign of repair’.

Obama may have good intentions, he may have GREAT intentions. The road to hell is paved with *good intentions* so I am told. You can’t just throw money at all of your ills and make them right. You can’t NOT prosecute terrorists, no matter WHO gets pissed off by us doing so, and most importantly, you can’t negotiate with Islamic terrorists. That is a hard fact that *The One* is either going to have to accept, and he won’t, or he can enter into negotiations with these Islamic terrorists and stand idly by as they blow up targets of opportunity here in the USA as he, Obama, continues to believe the press reports claiming that he is the *new messiah*.

George Bush was NOT the sharpest tool in the shed, but he did address terrorism. Obama is going to take an entirely different approach I fear. Obama will embrace them as *the brotherhood of man*, his thoughts will be ‘they’re a lot like us, they just express their feelings in a different way, but diversity is a GOOD thing America’. I fear that Obama is going to rely on his *skills* as a speaker to be all it takes to protect this United States of America, and anyone with half a brain already knows how far that tact is going to get us.

I assume that you have all seen my flag and memorial in the top of the sidebar. That will remain in place for as long as Obama is POTUS and this nation is held hostage by his ignorance and obvious arrogance, and that of those that believe this man can actually DO the things he pandered them with to get elected!

Obama rhetoric will NOT save this nation. Obamanomics will not boost this economy. Those are the facts of the matter. This nation is about to be taken for a ride that will shake her to the very foundation. If there’s anything left when Obama is done with her, I will be totally surprised.
