The Million Gun Owner March

January 31st, 2009 . by TexasFred

Folks, TexasFred’s has dropped ALL support of this Million Gun Owner March, renamed the Second Amendment March.

I just can’t support what I believe is going to be *lambs led to the slaughter*..

I wish the organizers of this thing nothing but the best but I fear they are asking the impossible… I make it a habit to never go ANYWHERE unarmed, and I’ll be damned if I will go to DC unarmed in an attempt to prove a point.

P.S. One thing MUST be stressed, this would be an UNARMED march…

A nonviolent and unarmed march, that way WE can be in compliance with D.C. LAW…

How many times do I have to say it, write it, repeat it, embrace it? When I was Rangemaster for my department I issued pamphlets about it, rallied about it, sent out departmental e-mails about it.

With gun ownership there needs to be responsibility, clarity, courage, accountability and training. Always training.

And furthermore, there DON’T need to be ANY MORE laws on the books with regard to guns. We just need to have the BALLS to firmly, fairly and CONSISTENTLY enforce the laws already extant.

I always have been and always will BE an advocate of self-discipline and accountability — enforced from within rather than enforced from WITHOUT.

Well as a Police Officer, I can say that “Guns don’t Kill People, Idiots with guns kill people.” I can honestly say that if the District Attorneys would actually prosecute idiots the use guns to commit crimes instead of Plea Bargaining to make their records look good, there may not be so many crimes committed with guns.

I agree that we don’t need to add more laws to control guns, we need to enforce what we already have. If we continue to add laws instead of enforce what we already have then we will always problems. Laws are only obeyed by “Law Abiding Citizens”, not criminals! We have to stand up for our rights in order to keep them so, I think this March is a very good idea.

BZ, There are a few laws in CALI that should be removed, they have not helped crime, they have only helped CRIMINALS. I would like CCW’s to be issued based on some sort of test/background check or whatever rather than the current structure, which is basically NILL.

I hope BZ and Deron will be making the trip with us, we need all the best of the best to be present.

The march is a great idea. Hopefully by the time it takes place I’ll be back to work and will be able to afford the trip.
    Oh what the hell.
For something like this I’ll borrow the money if I have to.
I also did a post about this, with a linkback, on my blog.
    Count me in.

    Fred,

Maybe we can actually learn from our kids, Unarmed yes but I remember something my firends were a part of the Empty holster “protest”. College students who were legally allowed to wear pistols otherwise were wearing empty holsters to show how many safe firearms would be available in a time of crisis. This was to protest the Defense free killing zones that are created in the misguided guise of safety. Just an idea.

    I can picture it now.

Over one million gun owners marching, singing the National Anthem, reciting the Pledge.

And the MSM no where around. Avoiding Washington the entire weekend.

“Hey, protest? Where? No, we don’t know nuthin’ ’bout no protest.”

Just like they do to the right-to-life marches. Get 5 weirdos with spiked hair and they’ll claim it was a march of thousands. Get tens of thousands to support something life-affirming and they’ll ignore it.

    But I’m in.

Expect Obama to be many, many, many miles away and for Biden to suddenly remember business somewhere in Asia.

This sounds like a really good idea to me. But how many will just bring lip service to the table verses how many will actually get with the program?
