The Million Gun Owners March - Part III

OK folks, this is an email I got from Phil Landtiser. Phil is connected to the NRA-ILA, he is an election volunteer coordinator for the Texas 5th Congressional district. Phil offers some really good ideas here and he will be a registered member of the blog,
TexasFred’s and will be responding to your questions and concerns as they come up!

Fred: I saw your posts on the Million Gun Owner March. I am not against this, but I do have some suggestions on other things gun owners need to be doing. Yes, I know, it is off topic. So use or discard as you see best.

Gun owners need to be getting ready for the next elections. They need to get ready to go out and volunteer for those good pro-Second candidates for the State Houses, U.S. Congress, and the U.S. Senate.

If folks are mad at the NRA for their endorsements, then call them and tell them. Call the ILA Grassroots Div. and ask for the person that handles their state. Don’t call the Hq no. or the Membership Div., call the ILA. The phone numbers are pretty easy to find-they are in the AR Magazines. Don’t tell them that you are mad about bailouts, or taxes, the War. Tell them about a specific law maker’s statements on guns or a specific floor vote. They are a one issue group, and there are limitations of a single issue group.

There is also a group of local NRA-elections volunteer coordinators, usually one in each Congressional District. NRA EVC’s are constantly looking for volunteers to help register gun friendly voters and help the good candidate campaigns. Few actually have enough real help. Please keep in mind that these guys are not the Complaint Department, but they may have some specific ideas on what needs to be done to get ready for the next election. There may be some good candidates in nearby districts that need help also. These guys will probably know about them.

If you don’t have an EVC in your district, then contact a nearby district EVC. And consider volunteering for the EVC position.

Well, I am already catching *flak* on Facebook, and here is exactly what I am telling any that disagree with Phil and his email:

Then go to the blog or the forum and tell HIM, not me…

WHY??? Why would any damn MORON on the face of the planet have a problem with this? It’s in the planning stages, the timing for this will depend on several factors. The people that seem to want to bitch and moan about this are just whiners and complainers and they can keep their sorry ass home…

Yeah God damn it I said it.

You know how it is Rob, you can make some of the people happy some of the time… Someone disagrees with Phil and his opinions and email… They need to tell Phil, HERE or on the forum…

Phil is the new Moderator of the 2A section of the forum, you guys have a problem with Phil and his stand, tell HIM!! Personally, I don’t have ANY problem with Phil, I have met the man face to face and he’s a standup guy, he can take up for his views as well as I do mine…

Most local NRA people are fine folks. I’m sure that Phil is one of those, and I will leave it at that.

I do not want to misrepresent anything here. Fred knows this—
I am not an official representative of the ILA. Not a spokesman. Not an agent. I am not paid by the NRA. All opinions are my own and I take sole responsibility for them.

What I do have is an excellent relationship with most of the local campaign managers. I have a good phone to the ILA in DC. They usually listen to me. Campaign issues and messages are up to the ILA, or the candidates and campaigns, not me. I am mainly in the business of seeking working volunteers and putting them to proper use.

    I apologize for the misunderstanding.

Phil, no hard feelings here, you are doing SOMETHING… This march on DC may come to pass it may not, it may only be 20 people. But at some point WE are going to get fed up with gun control legislation. Unfortunately SOME of the people that read this will be happy to do SOMETHING only after they are totally unarmed…Then there is no chance to recover. I am not waiting that long..

We need to put aside our petty ass differences and get behind the one thing that unites us all. Gun Laws and Ammo restrictions. As long as the gubmint has rifts among those gun groups that will challenge them, they have the edge.

Time to shelve it until we make sure that all who enter congress or the WH know that the 2nd is just as sacred as the 1st and we will not relent.
