CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) – President Bush on Tuesday lashed out at critics who say that al-Qaida’s operation in Iraq is distinct from terrorists who attacked the United States on Sept. 11, 2001.
“The merger between al-Qaida and its Iraqi affiliate is an alliance of killers and that is why the finest military in the world is on their trail,” Bush said.
I personally have NO doubt that al-Qaida is in Iraq, in force, and I have no doubt that al-Qaida and their ally, the Taliban, do present a clear and present danger to the United States of America and her citizens, and to other nations of the world as well…
But once again we are seeing MISSION SPIN being played out by the Bush administration as Pres. Bush continues his attempt to legitimize his foray into Iraq and convince the American people that it was the right thing to do and was vital to our national security interests…
In Washington, Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., said Bush “is trying to scare the American people into believing that al Qaida is the rationale for continuing the war in Iraq.” But Kerry said Bush presented no new evidence to back that up, and added: “The president is picking the wrong rationale for this war. Al-Qaida is not the principal killer of American forces in Iraq.”
And as usual, John Kerry is dead wrong, al-Qaida IS the principal killer of U.S. troops in Iraq, them and their minions, in one form or another, by any other name, it’s still al-Qaida and they ARE killing our troops…
Al-Qaida, led by Osama bin Laden, orchestrated the terrorist strikes on the United States by turning hijacked airplanes into killing machines. That was almost six years ago. Now a fresh intelligence estimate warns that the United States is in a heightened threat environment, mainly from al-Qaida. The terror group is seizing upon its affiliate, al-Qaida in Iraq, to recruit members and organize attacks, the report found.
“I’ve presented intelligence that clearly establishes this connection,” Bush said after spelling out details of foreign ties and leadership of al-Qaida in Iraq.
No Sir, you have NOT presented anything that clearly establishes that connection, al-Qaida is a constantly changing enemy and they have adapted their fight to OUR tactics, weapons and equipment, the al-Qaida that attacked the USA on Sept. 11, 2001 bears little resemblance to al-Qaida in Iraq…
_Al-Qaida in Iraq was founded not by an Iraqi, but by Jordanian-born Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, who had deep relations with al-Qaida leaders. The president said Zarqawi, who was killed by U.S. forces last year, set up operations with terrorist associates in Iraq long before U.S.-led forces arrived, and that in the violence and instability following Saddam Hussein’s fall, was able to expand the “size, scope and lethality” of his operation. Zarqawi formally joined al-Qaida in 2004 and pledged allegiance to bin Laden, he said.
IF this were the case it was done covertly and in such a manner as to not raise the ire of Saddam, he was pretty one way about who was going to hurt his countrymen, as long as it was HIM doing the hurting it was all OK, but he wasn’t going to allow any outsider into Iraq, especially an outsider that could challenge him and his authority, Saddam was an arrogant, evil, mean, cruel and sadistic dictator, but he wasn’t a fool, he was simply convinced of his invulnerability, Saddam didn’t need the likes of Zarqawi in HIS nation, Zarqawi was a believer in radical Islam, Saddam was into his own creature comforts, at ANY cost…
If Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was operating in Iraq prior to OUR involvement in Iraq, it was because he had other motives than taking on the U.S. Army in a battle, we weren’t even there and the real training grounds for al-Qaida were Syria and Pres. Bush’s good friends, Saudi Arabia…
The Presidents OWN words betray him, he says Zarqawi founded al-Qaida in Iraq and set up operations with other terrorists “long before U.S.-led forces arrived” and in the very next line says, “Zarqawi formally joined al-Qaida in 2004 and pledged allegiance to bin Laden”…
Make up your mind Mr. President, we’ve been in Iraq since what?? 2003?? I think that covers the Zarqawi time frame and when al-Qaida in Iraq was formed…
Pres. Bush is grasping at straws in his desperate bid to tie al-Qaida into the reasons for us going to Iraq, and it just can’t be done, there is no justification other than the very fact that Bush wanted to oust Saddam Hussein, and I am NOT at all opposed to that being the sole reason for our involvement in Iraq, I just want the President to say it, stop the spin, stop the B.S. and tell the American people the truth…
And stop trying to scare the American people with this B.S. threat of al-Qaida attacking us here in the USA, if they are going to attack us at home it damn sure won’t be with forces they have deployed in Iraq or Afghanistan, the attack(s) will be carried out by assets already in place, assets that have simply waltzed across OUR wide open borders…
You know the borders I’m talking about?? The ones the Bush administration STILL hasn’t secured??
Yeah, THOSE borders…

Mr. Bush told them to, “Bring it on.”
What a moron, not knowing what that statement would bring.
Well, they brought it on and what is he doing, nothing.
