General: Al-Qaida Making New Cells in US

WASHINGTON (AP) – A top U.S. military commander said Tuesday he believes there are al-Qaida cells in the United States – or people working to create them – and the military needs to triple its response teams to counter a growing threat of attack.

Air Force Gen. Victor “Gene” Renuart, who heads U.S. Northern Command, said that as the terrorism threat within the nation’s boundaries has increased officials have strengthened intelligence sharing, particularly in an effort to shore up security at ports.

Hey genius, we ALL know they’re here, your damned boss let em walk right in… But I have a little something I am seriously going to take issue with on this one…

Renuart, who took over at U.S. Northern Command just four months ago, said the military has one brigade-size unit available to respond to nuclear, chemical and biological incidents at home. That number, he said, needs to grow to three. A brigade is about 3,500 troops.

Are these response Brigades Regular military units or National Guard units?? What about that little thing called Posse Comitatus??

Sec. 375. Restriction on direct participation by military personnel:

The Secretary of Defense shall prescribe such regulations as may be necessary to ensure that any activity (including the provision of any equipment or facility or the assignment or detail of any personnel) under this chapter does not include or permit direct participation by a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps in a search, seizure, arrest, or other similar activity unless participation in such activity by such member is otherwise authorized by law. Posse Comitatus Act of 1878

Would those Brigades be tasked strictly for response to do cleanup and containment or would we be looking at a suspension of rights in this nation as those Brigades engaged in other duties?? 

Maybe some of the recent chatter about the possibility of a dictator for life hasn’t been as moonbatty as we originally thought it was…

Would those units be engaged in search, seizure, arrest, or any other form of law enforcement?? And would there be an emergency law passed to assure that there could be in effect, a legal participation in those activities BY our full time military??

Renuart’s comments came in the wake of a national intelligence report released last week, which concluded that al-Qaida is using its growing strength in the Middle East to plot attacks on U.S. soil. The general is in Washington this week to attend meetings with Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Peter Pace, and a number of other top military commanders.

Port security has long been identified as a key weak point for terror attacks, including the need to scan cargo containers coming into the country by ship.

I don’t doubt that we have terrorist in this nation, not for 1 minute do I doubt it, I know WHY we have terrorists in this nation too, and I look directly to D.C. and President Bush as the responsible party, I also see this current fear mongering as closing the barn door long after the horse has left the A.O.

We have serious issues facing us in the USA today folks but these problems are NOT a direct result of the war in Iraq, they are brought on by the failure of the Bush administration to properly secure this nation and secure it’s citizens, the 1st responsibility of ANY President, and in that area, Mr. Bush has failed miserably…

We have concentrated on the battle in Iraq and Afghanistan is all but lost to the Taliban again, we have concentrated on the battle in Iraq and the USA itself is, according to Air Force Gen. Victor “Gene” Renuart, who heads U.S. Northern Command, ripe for attacks by terror cells in place or terror cells being formed…

If that in itself doesn’t spell out the incredible national security failures of the current administration, I do NOT have a clue what else can, other than the attacks coming to fruition…

God help us all, if this comes out like the good General is saying it may, Mr. Bush will have the deaths of ALL Americans killed in those attacks directly on HIS hands…
