Mexican drug smugglers move into N.M.

COLUMBUS, N.M. - This dusty little border town with almost no visible means of support has been seeing something of a boom in the past year: Brand-new Lincoln Navigators and Cadillac Escalades with flashy wheel rims are parked just off the bleak main drag. Homes are selling quickly, sometimes for cash.

The source of this sudden wealth? An influx of Mexican drug smugglers, investigators say.

The smugglers are fleeing the Mexican army’s occupation of the town of Palomas, on the other side of the U.S.-Mexico border fence, and settling in Columbus, where there has been a law-enforcement vacuum. The four-man police force in Columbus has turned over seven times in three years because of scandal or apathy.

Mexican drug smugglers move into N.M.

Just HOW stupid can the people running this nation be?? I am NOT pointing fingers at ANY one particular administration or individual either. I am pointing at ALL of them for at least the last 8 to 12 years. Clinton, Bush 43 and now Obama.

None of this is news, not to any thinking person living in a border state. Many of us have been pleading with the government to close the U.S.-Mexican border and secure it with armed troops, National Guard troops, armed and with orders to ENGAGE those that cross our borders ILLEGALLY!

A little town like Columbus, N.M. is easily over-run by the narco-terrorists, people are easily corrupted by the HUGE sums of money to be made in the drug trade being conducted by these ILLEGALS and narco-terrorists. These people walk around with their heads held high, knowing that now that they have established themselves on THIS side of the border, they are practically immune to Mexican prosecution, such as it is, and they are fairly certain that the Obama administration isn’t going to do too much to interdict their activities either.

“There’s a lot of people who don’t work but have a lot of possessions,” Odom said, adding that he often spots local teens driving fancy new cars. “They have hubcaps that cost more than my truck.”

Where do you suppose these *possessions* are coming from? For those that have any sense at all, any shred of a working brain, it’s pretty obvious. Narco-dollars! In Columbus, there’s not much else, other than the apathy, and sheer stupidity of some of it’s residents.

“Criminals don’t live here,” said Maria Gutierrez, the 48-year-old owner of the Pancho Villa Cafe, where menus include a wanted poster for the Mexican outlaw whose 1916 raid on the United States took place on this patch of desert. “The problem is in Palomas. It’s serene here. It’s tranquil here.”

It is not clear whether the smugglers are legal or illegal immigrants, but local law-enforcement authorities say that’s not their business, it’s the federal government’s. And townspeople don’t seem to care either way.

Let me remind the reader, for those that may not know the makeup of New Mexico,, southern New Mexico is populated by a seriously large Hispanic population, some legal, some not, most are supporters of the Democratic party. That may explain some of the ignorance and apathy but noting can explain the *blind eye* many are willing to turn regarding the narco-terrorists and the ill-gotten gains they use to try and buy themselves some level of respectability!

Meanwhile, our borders remain WIDE OPEN, certain faux conservatives continue to call people like me fascists, racists and xenophobes, and those certain individuals wonder why people like me have no respect for them, and their RINO ways…

Drug Cartels seem to be of special interests week as America wakes up to this invasion. While the issue of drugs can be discussed desperately, the issue are illegal alien operating drug cartels within the U.S. I posted the following on April 30: Mexican Drug Cartels Present In Three Arkansas Cities.

And here’s a HUGE part of the problem: “. . .but local law-enforcement authorities say that’s not their business, it’s the federal government’s.” Bullshit! When I worked the Main Jail years ago we’d call INS on every person we thought was illegal. And INS wanted us to do so. Everybody can take a tip from Maricopa County’s manner of handling illegals. They just do it.

BZ, I would be willing to bet that your Department has more guys on any one shift than Luna County has total, ALL County, State AND Local cops combined…

These guys are scared, I have NO doubt in my mind, they are out spent, out gunned and face certain death if they go after these cretins on their own…

Nothing will happen until we are hit with a huge terrorist attack such as a dirty bomb or chemical weapons, etc. Once it is determined that those guilty came across the southern border, Washington will move at light speed to close the border….as always too late! Nobody will be to blame but dishonest politicians in DC!

Well, the LEO’s on this side of the border know what happened to the LEO’s on the other side of the border (think Nuevo Laredo and all the replacement sheriffs), and so how can you blame them for ignoring situations that would certainly get them killed? It is not like they can expect any support or back up from the feds.

It is, after all, the federal government that does not want (some) federal laws enforced, as evidenced by what happened to federal officers (i.e. Border Patrol Agents Ramos and Campeon) while doing their job of enforcing the law.

It would actually be handy to have a list of the laws the feds are going to ignore, so we could do the same, or even send them a list of the ones we are going to ignore, or at least be advised of when we are on our own.

Yes, I wish all LEO’s, local and fed, were Sheriff Joe clones. I wish all of our elected officials were actually interested in representing their constituents and defending their country rather than trying to feather their own nests as quickly as possible while attempting to convince the world what pieces of crap US citizens are.

During the Bush Administration, I really believed (probably a false hope, but I clung to it anyway) that if there was another attack the borders would be closed asap. I don’t think this administration would close them at all for any reason. In fact, I don’t think this administration would do a blasted thing about any attack on this country since the so-called president thinks Americans deserve to be hated.

The only thing Obama will do is grant citizenship to any that are illegal.

Ever notice that Democrat controlled cities and towns have the highest corruption among their civic leaders and law enforcement officials? They also have the highest crime rates.

Here’s another thing few people are talking about and that is the infiltration of al Queda and islamic terrorists through our porous southern border.
obambi and his douche bag administration are going to bring a reign of destruction upon us the longer those assholes are left unchecked.
I have NO faith in any politician…none…zip…nada to stand up and do what is right.

It’s up to us or we can forget about it.

This is what happens when people can be bought. Here’s a little for you, here’s a little for her, for him, and all of a sudden we’re asking How in the hell did these Illegal (wetbacks) get over here?
I’m so sick of our elected officials turning out to be dirty. From the Usurper down…
I don’t know how this country can ever get back to the Great Nation it once was, especially when they get to investigate each other. I guess our politicians think their jobs are like my diets. I’ll start Monday.

Before everyone starts judging the good folks that live in NM boot heel country they ought to spend some time there. The people that live there do so with little income and non-existent protection from LE. Someone mentioned the infamous Maricopa Arizona sheriff. Well, he’d crap his pants if he had to police Columbus, NM.

I can totally see local LEO’s attitude that if those guys aren’t committing crimes on our side of the border they ain’t gonna mess with them. We have a poor record in backing up our own stand-up LEOs when they take on bad guys, so why should those local badges put their families in line for kidnapping and worse?

I’ve spent time down there. I lived in the area for 20+ years. The border is quite literally a three strand barb wire fence made of whatever post material is at hand. How are those county and local badges supposed to police that?

The people of that area have been weathering this storm for almost 200 years. They know that they can only depend on themselves and no one else. The myth that this violence is something new is one of the worst lies of the current story. Pancho Villa raided Columbus in 1916. When I was living in El Paso and traveling the border area two decades ago bandits living in the hills west of Juarez routinely crossed the border in Santa Theresa, Sunland Park, and west El Paso to assault American citizens.

This ain’t new, folks, and nothing short of a BIG wall and a major military operation is going to shut down the narco traffic. Here’s the kicker… Mexico had a way of dealing with the drug lords but we went and messed with their system and did squat to replace what we tore down.

    Nature abhors a vacuum.

The reason the bad guys are now fighting their good guys on equal or better terms is because we made them get rid of the government controlled “bad guys” that were keeping the drug lords under their thumbs. We stepped on our dick again, and like every time before, we failed to learn from the pain. We just do it over and over and over.
