Feds arrest felon in sale of gun in McNair killing

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Federal agents have arrested a convicted murderer for allegedly providing the gun later used to kill ex-NFL quarterback Steve McNair.

Adrian J. Gilliam Jr., 33, of LaVergne, Tenn., was arrested by agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

A criminal complaint unsealed Friday in Nashville says that Gilliam – who was convicted of murder and attempted armed robbery in 1993 in Florida – admitted he sold the gun to the woman who later shot McNair.

McNair was shot to death on July 4 at his condo by his 20-year-old mistress, Sahel Kazemi, who then turned the gun on herself.

The complaint, signed by ATF agent Mickey French, charges Gilliam with illegally possessing a firearm, which he is barred from doing as a felon.

Imagine that… A man that has been convicted of murder and armed robbery, out on the street, apparently doing business, sells a pistol that was used in a murder, the murder of a well known sports figure. And then this same pistol was used by the murderer to commit suicide.

I am simply amazed. Shocked. Astounded. Flabbergasted even.

First and foremost, if the guy was a convicted murderer, what was he doing out on the streets of this nation?

I realize he was convicted in 1993, but, excuse me? I don’t know when this cretin committed his murder but he was convicted and was OUT on the street, and his conviction was only 16 years ago? Did he get time off for good behavior and for promising to never do it again?

All supporters of the Second Amendment know this. WE are not the problem. ALL CHL holders know this. WE are not the problem. Less than 1% of all violent crimes and gun crimes in general are committed by the average shooter, a supporter of the 2A or a CHL holder.

Where do you suppose this goblin got the gun that HE sold to Sahel Kazemi? I think I already know.

The gun was either stolen from a private owner or a legal and reputable source by Adrian J. Gilliam Jr., or, it was stolen by some other goblin and sold to him. You can bet this gun has a history. You can bet that it wasn’t bought by Gilliam at Joe’s Gun and Pawn. I mean, surely not.

Isn’t the BATF charged with making sure that things like this don’t happen? Aren’t they supposed to be doing an immediate background check on ALL gun buyers that make purchases through LEGAL sources? Wouldn’t a convicted felon attempting to buy a gun through LEGAL sources throw up some kind of RED FLAG for our ever vigilant BATF?

That only leaves me to believe that the gun was acquired through nefarious means. And therein lies the real root of the problem.

In the last few days I have angered the Cornyn and Hutchison supporters, I have angered the supporters of Sonia Sotomayor too. I might as well get the BATF in an uproar as well.

If the BATF, A.G. Eric Holder, all the libbers, and the anti-gun cabal put as much effort into insuring that individuals like Gilliam are totally denied ANY access to guns, if the BATF and the above named entities put as much effort into taking ALL guns out of the hands of criminals as they do in their attempt to take them away from the honest American Citizen, then you would think there would be NO gun crimes. You would think…

The American gun owner, NOT the American gun thief, but the legal, trained, regulated and responsible American gun owner is considered by the BATF to be an easy target. We are not considered to be nearly as much of a danger to persecute, and prosecute as the criminal element among us that does have firearms in THEIR hands.

The BATF knows that in most cases, a convicted felon dealing in guns, stealing guns, selling guns, whatever the case may be, most of them have nothing to lose and would rather go out in a blaze of glory as opposed to returning to prison. The BATF guys are in no rush to join them in that blaze of glory thing.

The BATF doesn’t view the average American gun owner as a target they consider all that dangerous. They know that we have families, homes, jobs, education, financial and community responsibilities, and they are pretty certain that the average American gun owner won’t greet them at the door guns ablaze.

The times they are a changin’, as the song goes. Americans are rapidly becoming thoroughly disillusioned with their government, especially the Federal government. We see the ownership of guns as a RIGHT, one that is well enumerated in the U.S. Constitution in the Second Amendment.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

There are 250+ million privately-owned firearms in the United States SOURCE, 99.9% of those guns have NEVER been used or fired in the commission of a crime. Maybe the BATF and the Obama goons need to refocus their efforts on the enforcement of gun laws already on the books and their application as they concern convicted felons.

That might be a lot safer than getting the owners of those 250+ million privately-owned firearms all fired up. Yes, pun definitely intended, and personally, I am NOT in the mood to be infringed upon!
