Gonzo is Gone-Zo…
August 27th, 2007 . by TexasFredWASHINGTON (AP) – Alberto Gonzales, the nation’s first Hispanic attorney general, announced his resignation Monday – ending a nasty, months long standoff over his honesty and competence at the helm of the Justice Department.
Republicans and Democrats alike had demanded his resignation over the botched handling of FBI terror investigations and the firings of U.S. attorneys, but President Bush had defiantly stood by his Texas friend until accepting his resignation Friday.
“It has been one of my greatest privileges to lead the Department of Justice,” Gonzales said, announcing his resignation effective Sept. 17.
Bush planned to discuss Gonzales’ departure at his Crawford, Texas, ranch later Monday.
I am guessing that the blog world will be all abuzz with news of Gonzo folding up and leaving, personally, I don’t care too much, one way or the other what he does, I never liked the guy and I am glad to see him go, and it has nothing to do with his handling of anything connected to the White House or the lawyers being fired, Gonzo is a gun grabber at heart, and for that reason alone I am glad to see him gone…
Homeland Security chief Michael Chertoff was among those mentioned as possible successors. However, a senior administration official said the matter had not been raised with Chertoff.
God help us all, I know Bush is running out of competent people willing to go to the post for him but damn… Chertoff?? As AG?? Isn’t he enough of an embarrassment as the director of HSA??

When I heard that Gonzo is going, going, gone-o, I shuddered when I realized who his replacement might be.
Given W’s frame of mind, I’m unable to shake the notion that he’ll nominate his favorite, law-degreed hatchet man, U.S.Attorney Johnny “Rat Bastard” Sutton.

I’m glad to see him gone…real glad. I believe he’s had a big part in our Border Guards being sent to prison for doing their jobs.
I’m wondering though if the Republicans are missing a chance to turn this back on the Democrats by calling their constant attacks against Gonzalez as racial since he’s Hispanic. Now, I don’t believe for one second being Hispanic makes you a race of people but the Democrats love to use the term Racism when Conservatives want illegal aliens to follow our laws. Hey, if the situation were reversed, Chuckie Scumner and the boys would be shouting Racism throughout the Halls of Congress.
