Obama would curtail summer vacation

WASHINGTON - Students beware: The summer vacation you just enjoyed could be sharply curtailed if President Barack Obama gets his way.

Obama says American kids spend too little time in school, putting them at a disadvantage with other students around the globe.

“Now, I know longer school days and school years are not wildly popular ideas,” the president said earlier this year. “Not with Malia and Sasha, not in my family, and probably not in yours. But the challenges of a new century demand more time in the classroom.”

Of course Das Furher wants the children in school for longer periods of time. It gives his evil minions that much more time to brainwash them!

If school kids were able to spend more time doing reading, writing, arithmetic, and actually learning instead of all this diversity and social skills crap, they would be able to compete. The men who put astronauts on the moon and back, numerous times safely, didn’t learn diversity and social stuff in school. They learned skills and they didn’t have computers either, all they had were slide rules, brains, and common sense.

You got it right Bob—Its never been about length but quality. Seriously the problem is in the schools and not in the length of the school year. Liberals always have the same answer—throw more money at something and the problem will go away or this case just put more days in the school year and the problem will be solved—-they are the problem, but will never see or much less admit that. I taught for many years and was witness to the decline in the American educational system, and believe me when I tell you it will be difficult to reverse. The left have a firm grip on the system and it will take many years and a great deal of work to get them out—need to start with the teacher unions.

There has never been a stronger argument for home schooling. The children singing Obama’s praises to a tune that used to be reserved for singing praises to Jesus… well, I think that is an example of how longer days and more days will be used.

Great post TF, parents of young ones need to find ways to keep their children OUT of the government school system. And most Christian Universities still teach that “common sense thing”. It is scary to think about how moonbats have taken over most of our colleges and universities.

We spend 3 times as much on education than other nations, but get less in return. Get rid of teacher’s unions, self-esteem bullshit, & teaching liberal nonsense. Get back to reading, writing, arithmatic & real US history.

Then we can compete with anyone!

Many years ago while on a peaceful , but event filled vacation in a small town south of Acapulco, Mexico I befriended several young people, heck at that time I was young too in my late twenties. These two Mexicans were in their late teens and on vacation for Mexico City—we got into numerous discussions about history and math. It was quite surprising to me that they were very and I mean very well educated. At that time they were in their first year at the University of Mexico in Mexico City. I recall thinking at that time that they were more educated than many of my seniors in the high school in which I taught at that time. Of course these two young people were from the upper class there and had gone to private schools before entering the university, nevertheless I was impressed. Home schooling is certainly something to consider and many in my family do this and the young people in my extended family have benefited greatly. Many coming out of the American public school system are lacking in the basics such as math, reading, histroy, etc. I’ll give you one example a few years back my wife managed a small fast food chain store and she had a young lady working there part time who could only make change by counting it out in pennies—-$.35 cents in change meant counting out 35 pennies and not giving back a quarter and a dime, or a quarter and two nickels. She simply couldn’t add. Oh, she was in her second year at a nearby university—-such is the state of American education.

Schools are controled by local boards. Can’t see them caving in to the feds on something like this. Good oportunity to tell Obama to shove it where the sun don’t shine. If he threatens to stop federal funding, no big deal.

“The president, who has a sixth-grader and a third-grader, wants schools to add time to classes, to stay open late and to let kids in on weekends so they have a safe place to go.”

WTF? Sounds to me like they don’t really care about the education, but are wanting Babysitters. No thanks. I don’t work and we go without a lot, but somehow we make it.

    F**k Obama.

All you have to do is watch Jay Leno’s Jay Walking and you’ll see how stupid some people who inhabit this country are.

I don’t think we have ever had a president who tried to micro manage everything… and I do mean everything … that goes on in America and everything that affects our lives. I could always be wrong.

That is a interesting observation by RT. His need to micro-manage everything might well be part of his narcissistic disorder. To think a man who is so incredibly dysfunctional can be elected POTUS. It gives credence to BobF’s observation! There are incredible morons in the USA… and they walk among us.

Thank the public school systems and teacher’s unions for the morons. Part of a purposeful plan to insure more sheeple.
