Yes, Fred, I have to say, you are completely 100% correct. It's high-risk/high-gain. Yes, I'm on Blogger for free. I haven't paid ONE CENT since 2004.

But I am not sufficiently large to draw much attention at all. I just keep keepin' on. I've written what must be terribly contentious things about Mr Obama and I'm still standing erect.

Frankly, I doubt I'll ever be garnering much greater traffic than I have now. I simply don't have the time whilst I'm gainfully employed and not retired.

Who knows? If I were to actually acquire an audience perhaps things would change. But until then -- yeah, right -- I'm just a zit on the chin of Blogger.

But, for me, now, free works. I'm just not in your league and, perhaps, that's a good thing. I doubt I will be. But, on the other hand, I've predominantly been working for me and no one else. I don't write to be noticed or showered with accolades. People read me if they're interested; they discard me if they're not. BFD.

I've been solicited for advertising on four prior occasions from various directions. I've turned each one down. I refuse to partake of Google or Blogger ads. And I refuse to partake of those concerns who have solicited me otherwise.

This is just a "hobby" for me now. Perhaps, when I retire, it will take on another form entirely.

But, frankly, I'm just not large enough or rampant enough or effective enough or read enough for anyone to much care. And at this point, as it is what it is, that works for me. I read. I write. I vent. Some people respond. It's all still free. For what I've gotten out of Blogger, I'm surprised I've lasted this long.

I mentioned your posting yesterday on <a href="http://blogtalkradio.com/the-gathering-storm" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">The Gathering Storm Radio Show</a>.

I know that I'm going to have to get a site I pay for -- sooner or later. **sigh**

I do wonder the following, however. Did Google shut down sites which were anti-GWB?

Yep you get what you pay for. I remember having issues with Blogger too, then we went to startlogic and they actually made Blogger look good...NOW things are much better although we had our issues with BlueHost too. We worked through them with the help from Bluehost and a little learning from yours truly...I'll be happy to help anyone get their site set up/moved or whatever, just give me a hollar. (my time is in short supply but I'll make time for my friends.)

Ref:"I haven’t really looked into the process of moving five years worth of posts, etc., but it would probably be a freaking nightmare. I’d hate to lose all of that work, but there are worse things."

When blogspot went down about a year or so ago I immediately found another site...that site is called "Multiply"
Multiply automatically copies all your blogspot posts.
I haven't been over to my Multiply site lately but when ever I have...there they were! all my blogspot posts!

BlueHost is who we use, and you are right, helpful, efficient and VERY minimal down time!

And a word to the wise once more, NEVER, EVER use StartLogic... We had them for 2 years and they are the WORST and slowest and most incapable bunch of children with a hosting service you've ever seen...

OK folks, being LOCKED OUT of Blogger is one thing, it happens, and it's Bots doing it and CAN be addressed with a challenge and posting something that proves that YOU are not a SPAM BLOG...

Having Google DELETE your blog is another issue entirely.. Deletion means that you have somehow violated their TOS... Too bad, so sad..

Try bluehost.com for hosting. They aren't expensive and they are very helpful. I use them for my site and never have problems. Just a thought. (No compensation for referrals, lol)
