BAGHDAD (AP) – The most prominent figure in a U.S.-backed revolt of Sunni sheiks against al-Qaida in Iraq was killed Thursday by a bomb planted near his home in Anbar province, 10 days after he met with President Bush, police and tribal leaders said.

Abdul-Sattar Abu Risha was leader of the Anbar Salvation Council, also known as the Anbar Awakening – an alliance of clans backing the Iraqi government and U.S. forces.

Officials said his assassination would be a huge setback for U.S. efforts in Iraq, because it sends a message to others who are cooperating with coalition forces or thinking about cooperating against al-Qaida.

Abu Risha and two of his bodyguards were killed by a roadside bomb planted near the tribal leader’s home in Ramadi, Anbar’s provincial capital, said Col. Tareq Youssef, supervisor of Anbar police.

These are the attacks we can’t stop, not in Iraq, not in Afghanistan, likely not even here in the USA if the Muslim moonbats decide to fire off a few roadside bombs here, unless we are lucky enough to actually SEE the terrorist planting the bomb and stop them right then, this is an indefensible act of terrorism unless stopped in it’s tracks before it happens and that is simply a matter of luck, and I am not being critical of anyone, from the Presidency right on down the line, it’s just a fact, these types of attacks are indefensible, devastating and quite dramatic in their purpose and intent…

No group claimed responsibility for the assassination but suspicion fell on al-Qaida in Iraq, which U.S. officials say has suffered devastating setbacks in Anbar thanks to Abu Risha and his fellow sheiks. It’s unclear how his death would affect U.S. efforts to organize Sunnis against the terrorist network.

Of course suspicion falls on al-Qaeda in Iraq, who else do you blame?? The MSM is really playing the ‘Capt. Obvious’ game, al-Qaeda in Iraq is the name of anything or anyone that fires so much as one shot in Iraq, al-Qaeda in Iraq is the name now used to justify our involvement in Iraq, al-Qaeda in Iraq, the organization that didn’t even exist until AFTER we went into Iraq to conduct a mission that was designed to depose Saddam and clean out the WMDs that presented a clear and present danger to us here in the USA, how they presented that clear and present danger, I do not know nor do I understand, to be ANY kind of threat to the USA, the Iraqis would have had to be in possession of some type of delivery system, and I don’t mean some border jumper either…

And I also feel it’s fair to point out, these WMDs are yet to be found, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and the battle we are fighting in Iraq right now, wasn’t even a part OF the equation when this mission was conceived, al-Qaeda in Iraq is the Bush boogieman used to justify our involvement when in reality al-Qaeda in Iraq encompasses ALL involved, Sunni, Shiite, Kurd, Iranian, Syrian, Saudi and any others involved in this civil war, the name is a catch-all and being used to strike fear into the semi brain dead Americans that fall for every word that comes out of the Oval Office and DoD…

The enemy is ISLAM, by any name, and what we are engaged in my friends is a modern day version of The Crusades, but here’s the catch, today, some of our enemies are nuclear armed, they still have a Middle Age mentality but they have 21st century weaponry, and they have sworn to kill ALL that oppose them, in my humble opinion, that is the casting of the gauntlet and we either send an earth shattering response that will completely change the complexion of Islam and it’s followers or we can mark the USA down on the list as NEXT…
