Bush Orders Gradual Troop Cuts in Iraq
September 13th, 2007 . by TexasFredWASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush, defending an unpopular war, ordered gradual reductions in U.S. forces in Iraq on Thursday night and said, “The more successful we are, the more American troops can return home.”
Still, Bush firmly rejected calls to end the war, saying the insurgents who threaten Iraq’s future are a danger to U.S. national security. American troops must stay in the battle, Bush said, and more than 130,000 will remain after the newly ordered withdrawals are completed in July.
I am absolutely amazed that Bush still tries to float this ‘Iraqi security effects our national security’ lame line of BS, we had Iraq fully contained with a ‘no fly’ zone and supposedly the U.N. had them in a strangle hold with their embargoes and sanctions, as long as we had them in that position, what danger did Iraq present to the USA??
And if we pulled out of Iraq tomorrow, how would that effect the security of the USA?? How are the Iraqi insurgents going to follow us here?? As I and a few others have graphically pointed out, if we are going to be attacked, we are going to be attacked by forces already in place, not by forces presently engaged in operations in Iraq…
I personally feel that our president is maintaining his hard line on Iraq in an attempt to redirect attention from our own serious border problems, and again, as I and several others have pointed out, if we secure this nation as it should be, and remove the internal threats that have been allowed to sit and fester, we would be infinitely safer as opposed to anything we could do in Iraq short of totally destroying the place…
Sen. Jack Reed of Rhode Island, a former Army Ranger who delivered the Democratic response, said that “once again, the president failed to provide either a plan to successfully end the war or a convincing rationale to continue it.”
Of course Sen. Reed likely has NO clue regarding what he’s talking about since he wasn’t a Maintenance Section Chief or a Chaplains assistant, I mean, he’s only a West Point grad, was a Ranger and actually carried a rifle a time or 2, but in spite of that serious lack of credibility I tend to put at least some stock in what he says, I’m sure I must be wrong in doing so, and several sites will put up posts tonight or in the morning saying so, and oh yeah, by the way, he’s likely a fake vet too, like all the other vets that have come out against this ill planned and ill advised debacle, none of em are REAL veterans or warriors, they aren’t entitled to their opinions, ones based on actually having had their ass on the line in actual life or death combat situations but Reeds words rang clear and true in my opinion…
Bush has been winging it since this BS in Iraq started, and he’ll continue to wing it until he’s out of office and then it’s someone else’s problem, and he won’t care who it is either, Dem or Repub, if it flops he’ll lay the blame on the current administration, if at some point it does succeed he’ll say it was all because of the groundwork HE laid out in the 1st decade we spent in Iraq…
Tonight’s speech pointed out once again, Bush had no plan going in, no plan in the middle and still has no clue on how to make an exit from this spectacle that is bleeding Americans dry, I only hope that the Dems and Repubs can put their heads together and come to a logical solution that doesn’t dictate my grandsons kids having to stand watch in Iraq…

I’ll be the first to admit that, after driving all day, I’m basically brain dead. But I didn’t hear Reed say anything that hadn’t been said numerous times before, by various other Dhimmis. If he said something different, I missed it. I’m going to have to take your word for it.
