4 U.S. Soldiers Killed in Iraq Bombing

BAGHDAD (AP) – Mourners vowed revenge and perseverance Friday at the funeral of the leader of the Sunni Arab revolt against al-Qaida militants, who was assassinated just 10 days after meeting with President Bush.

In eastern Diyala province, meanwhile, a bomb exploded near a U.S. military vehicle on Friday, killing four American soldiers in, the U.S. command said. They were the first American deaths reported in Iraq since Monday.

Late Friday, an al-Qaida front in Iraq claimed responsibility for assassinating Adbul-Sattar Abu Risha. A statement posted on the Internet by the Islamic State of Iraq called Abu Risha “one of the dogs of Bush” and described Thursday’s killing as a “heroic operation that took over a month to prepare.”

Al-Qaida earlier had killed four of the sheik’s brothers and six other relatives for working with the U.S. military.

4 U.S. Soldiers Killed in Iraq Bombing

For once I am not going to take issue with the Bush administration concerning Iraq, I’m not even going to blast Bush’s lap dog, al-Maliki, and the rest of the shockingly incompetent asshats that run the Iraqi government, nope, not gonna do it this time, but I am going to take issue with and point out the incredible hypocrisy of the MSM as a whole, AP in particular and DAVID RISING, the author OF this story…

Just looking at the title of this article one would have to assume that AP was doing a story about 4 U.S. servicemen being killed in Iraq?? Right??Wrong! And not only is that assumption wrong, the AP and author of this story are terribly wrong in their presentation of what I consider to be the most insulting article I have ever seen from a so called CREDIBLE news service…

The original story is 29 paragraphs long and the 4 troops that were killed, the 4 troops that were highlighted in the title line OF this piece of garbage reporting were given one stinking paragraph, ONE stinking paragraph, and that paragraph was an insult…

In eastern Diyala province, meanwhile, a bomb exploded near a U.S. military vehicle on Friday, killing four American soldiers in, the U.S. command said. They were the first American deaths reported in Iraq since Monday.

Meanwhile?? Like, oh, I don’t know, meanwhile, back at the ranch??

Meanwhile?? Like as an after thought the author figured he should do something that maybe include a line or 2 about the troops that were killed??

MEANWHILE??

The deaths of 4 U.S. soldiers is reduced to a stinking MEANWHILE??

This post smacks of MSM hypocrisy and glaringly shows, at least to me, that not only does the MSM not support the war in Iraq, they also have no problem with not supporting the troops and relegating the deaths of U.S. troops to a fairly minuscule paragraph with a flippant MEANWHILE as a statement in regards TO those deaths?? Talk about your denigration…

The guy that wrote this piece needs to have his laptop rammed squarely down his piehole, sideways…

Meanwhile?? Indeed…

MEANWHILE…they could have also left out the al-Queda bragging of how heroic it was and how it took over a month to prepare!

  2. Longstreet says:

Those four troopers died to protect the writer’s constitutional right to free speech… and they STILL treat our service people like something you’d scrape of the sole of your boot! Disgusting!

    Longstreet

  3. GM Roper says:

Fred, the MSM have a decided interest in downplaying the role of the US, slandering our troops, and otherwise denigrating the sacrifices of our brave soldiers/marines and airmen.

My nephew is today in Iraq carrying the fight to the islamofascists and though his life may be at risk, he went there proudly as a member of his beloved Air Force. I cannot help but think that if he is killed, and the MSM relegates his death to a “meanwhile” I will hunt down and bloody the nose of the reporter. And even then, I’ll have to stand behind my two brothers, his other uncle and his dad.

    Thanks for catching this.

  4. Kate says:

Meanwhile? Like an afterthought? Imagine many four lettered, unladylike, words.

  5. cary says:

It has been slowly approaching this level, indeed.

Their declining support has finally caught up with them, perhaps we should all send letters to the editors and let them know how upset we are that the local paper would carry such a blatantly anti-troop story, even if it is from the venerated AP….

  6. No Apology says:

MEANWHILE, maybe the Iraqis will finally realize that Al-Qaida ain’t their buddies, and take steps to take out the garbage. As far as AP goes, well listen – they had no photos of the explosion, nothing that would sell another 5000 papers, so you know, ho- hum. BUT, they do have quotes from the enemy. Look, the MSM are shameless whores; I hardly ever read them.

  7. Debbie says:

This is just one more example of idiots in the press with agendas. Although, one would think giving more than one paragraph and a “meanwhile” to 4 dead American troops would be in their favor. Seems they missed an opportunity here to ram home a point that MoveOn.org would be proud of.

I ditto everything previously commented, especially Longstreet. They seem to forget they have freedom ONLY because of our military.

  8. Chicago Ray says:

Spot on Fred and all here…. “Meanwhile, back at the ranch” is about the right description of the lackadaisical tone he takes regarding the soldiers and the story that offers us the misleading headline used to grab attention of readers like us patriots to then feed us their usual “Pro Al Queda & happy some US soldiers are whacked” attitudes.

If they titled the story more accurately “We Are Supporters of the resistance and more Soldiers died at the hands of our Masters” no one would read it except Al Queda. Fk’n MSM traitors period.

  9. GUYK says:

I am with MSM like I am with the U.N. I just check both out every day to keep up with what the enemy is thinking because I consider both enemies of my country and thus me.

I will say this about the Shiek that was killed..maybe he was one of the ‘good’ guys and the ones that will eventually bring stability to Iraq..after his type kills off the mad mullahs and runs al qaeda back into Pakistan.

But I have my doubts that the followers of the Shiek will offer any more freedom to the Iraqi people than any of the rest of the Islamic leaders..such is Islam. Even though I figure that he was one of maybe the good guys I still figure the best option is to let them fight it out..hell, arm both sides and make a deal with the winner.

  10. Well, said Fred:

You highlighted your points well. Brevity is the soul of wit.

  11. Al says:

    Dear Fred,

I too share your anger with the lily-livered Liberal media.
But what can we expect from the MSM that still holds “Hanoi Jane” Fonda in high regard?

We ran an article comparing Bin Laden to the Liberal Left (Media, politicians, Bloggers, etc).
Guess what? They both agree on everything except taxes.

    Keep up the good work.

    Al

  12. jo says:

That took me back to Cronkite in the 60′s..MEANWHILE, in Viet Nam yesterday…it bothered me then. it bothers me now.
MSM needs a major dose of humility….maybe that would minimize the ego problem they have.

  13. Mac says:

Meanwhile…hmmm… I’ve noticed it a lot before I left the States: “Bush sucks, the administration sucks, gas prices up, will the democRATS save America, Barak Hussein Obama, Billary Clinton, oh…and some troops were killed.”

The media, what a bunch of shitbags…

  14. sbeene says:

Fred……I am surprised that you are shocked by the MSM behavior.

The leftist MSM have been following the communist handbook for the last 30 years to utterly destroy any patriotism, truth in politics, honest reporting, hatred of our military, or any Christianity. Leftists being the socialists who have a death grip on the MSM, most college professors, and democrapy party. They are not genuine liberals who usually are open to all points of view….or at least they were.

Our current MSM agree with the radical murderous Muslims that it is always a good thing to kill any US troops and even better to behead a Christian. Plus the more troops who are killed and the worse the war goes then the more the leftist point of view wins. There have embedded reporters who were quietly removed as they were reporting in real time the positions of troops they were with. They were offered leave quietly or be prosecuted and all left quietly.

Frankly if I were a troop over there I suspect my aim just might get a bit off and maybe hit a few reporters by accident. If nothing else, it would help thin a stagnant gene pool.

  15. silent e says:

Spoken like true liberals. Worried more about their al-Qaida allies than the people who protect their right to scribble that tripe….

  16. TexasFred says:

SBeene, I wasn’t shocked, I was PISSED OFF… Denigration of our troops tends to do that to me… I don’t think I used the word shocked anywhere in my tirade…

  17. ablur says:

Besides the obvious reduction in stature of our troops and the inflated stature of our enemy, I don’t see much of a difference in what they do everyday. I was more surprised that they didn’t dwell on the deaths more. The prize piece was being able to put down Bush and the US and make it sound like somebody else. That was the real story they were pushing. They were so excited to write that they failed to do their usual.

I am curious about the as to who did the headline, editor or author. Who’s agenda was being pushed? The author obviously cares less about our troops. Perhaps the editor was more interested in pushing up the death toll.

The real shocker — They mentioned that this is the first American casualties in the better part of a week. They have been pushing death and despair daily. You would think the editor would have struck off this line. They must be slipping.

May the Lord comfort and console the families of the soldiers lost.

  18. RTaylor says:

The MSM sinks to new lows with this one (if that’s possible)
    Excellent points, TexasFred…..

  19. Fred,
I think you’re leaving out the most culpable person in this, the Editor. The Editor is probably the one who titled the article. The writer’s intent may have been to focus on the dead Iraqi. His treatment of the U.S. soldiers as an “aside” is despicable, but the Editor is the one who should be drawn and quartered.

  20. Panhandle is right; in theory, nothing goes into a paper that doesn’t pass multiple hands first (at least it did when I was writing for newsradio, TV and briefly for a local paper) — multiple EDITORIAL hands. So one can ASSUME that whatever appears in any given paper is not only the OPINION as viewed by one particular MSM lackey, but promulgated and prodded FURTHER by said lackey’s boss, abetted by the Editor In Chief.

On the other hand, a bulk of the paper MSM is clearly moribund.

  21. Okay Fred….

I am just too GOD DAMNED PISSED TO POST.

For the rest of you… Am I clear!

  22. Brad Marston says:

Just a quick visit to say hello. I have missed reading your stuff this summer and am so glad to be back.

  23. TexasFred says:

Editor, author, I don’t give a damn WHO did it, there is NO excuse for the way this GARBAGE REPORTING disrespected the death of U.S. troops with a flippant MEANWHILE

The title is merely deceiving, the body of the story is MY issue, that, and the way the cretin that wrote it worded that one paragraph…

They can sing the praises of the dead Sheik all they want to, they can bash Bush and kiss al-Qaeda’s ass, the MSM is going to do that as a matter of habit, but the way this one word was used to render the deaths of 4 U.S. soldiers insignificant is nothing less than utterly despicable…

  24. MAmaarcher says:

Meanwhile?? Oh yeah, I’m supposed to be writing about these troops, I guess I better at least mention them! Horrible!

  25. J.D. Long says:

    Couple of things here.

1.) You’re exactly right, Fred – relegating the ultimate sacrifice of four of America’s Finest to a “Meanwhile” paragraph is insulting, demeaning, and dehumanizing — and he needs to be fired for his callous tratment of human life. He also owes their families apologies.

2.) As an English Major, the whole paragraph is full of comma faults, run-on sentences, and grammatical errors. Here’s just a few:

In eastern Diyala province, meanwhile (Poor Construction, awkward phrasing), a bomb exploded near a U.S. military vehicle on Friday (The word “on” is uneccesary), killing four American soldiers in (“in” what? – incomplete sentence), the U.S. command said (The “U.S.Command” doesn’t “say” anything — it’s not a person — mismatched pronouns). They were the first American deaths reported in Iraq since Monday.

3.) And then these are the first deaths this week — and we’re not making a big deal about this????

4.) Finally, the article downplays the fact that this Sheik’s death has turned the Sunnis against al-Aqaeda!!! This is something to rejoice about!

Instead, it reads like a dreary little war dispatch that minimizes human life and misses the point entirely — with bad grammar thrown in as a sideshow.

    Yeesh!
