Veterans Day 2009

To ALL U.S. Veterans, today is YOUR day! I salute each and every one of you!

Photobucket

“God we thank you for commissioning men and women in the defense of freedom. We honor those who honor and protect us, in many cases laying down their lives that we might live free to pursue our own destiny. Every soldier takes their oath knowing they may be called upon to pay the ultimate sacrifice. Lord, we cannot repay this gift they give us. For those who have suffered as a result of their sacrifice, we ask for supernatural healing, favor, peace, and in some cases, forgetfulness. Lift from them the cares and burdens of violence. When they return home, give them opportunities to fulfill their own potentials and dreams. Open doors for them, even when some doors are closed. God, Bless our veterans. We pray this in Jesus.” SOURCE

Thanks for the tribute Fred. The images are great. Often many forget who we owe our freedoms too. Without the brave servicement and women we would have nothing. The price of freedom is not cheap, but it seems the young are always ready to step forward when the nation calls.

    Amen!

And, to all those who served, THANK YOU.

It was an honor to serve after you, with you, or before you.

Thank you Fred for honoring our vets. My husband is a veteran of three wars WWII, Korea and Viet Nam. He is a mustang officer, receiving a battlefield commission in Korea ( there aren’t many mustang officers left). He loves this country and all the opportunities it has afforded him and has never regretted the sacrifices he made or the hardships he’s endured, though they were many . However @ 83yrs he is both angry and heart sick at what is happening now to our nation and our military.
We pray that the people’s eyes will be opened, and that they may see the evil that surrounds us and that they will have the courage to fight against it. God bless our veterans and God bless you Fred for honoring them. : )

I have checked that activities schedule at the nursing home for today. No mention of anything to commemorate Veterans Day!

Well, we know of at least one veteran in the facility — Mr. AOW. Once again, he will go see another Veterans Day on which he won’t be thanked for his service. **sigh**

    TF,
This is a beautiful posting for today. Thank you. When Mr. AOW finally comes back home, I’ll pull up this posting for him to see. We’ll observe a late Veterans Day this year.

    Aha!

Out of the blue, this morning the nursing home presented all veterans there with a rose and a card for Veterans Day.

Mr. AOW just phoned me with this information. He was so pleased to have his service to our nation acknowledged!

ARLINGTON, Va. — President Barack Obama paid fond tribute today to the determination of the U.S. military, from those who served generations ago to today’s troops fighting in Afghanistan, Iraq and missions around the world.

“To all of them — to our veterans, to the fallen and to their families — there is no tribute, not commemoration, no praise that can truly match the magnitude of your service and your sacrifice,” Obama said in a traditional Veterans Day ceremony at the hallowed Arlington National Cemetery. SOURCE

Duty, honor, service, sacrifice… Obama has NO concept… Veterans Day is a celebration for LIVING Veterans, Memorial Day is for those who have passed and their celebration is traditionally at Arlington and the Tomb of the Unknown… Another gaff brought to you by the Poser in Chief!

Fred, thanks for the rememberance on this Veteran’s Day. Its just that this Country sets aside two days a year for the Armed Forces. One for the living(Veteran’s Day) and one for the dead(Memorial Day). For me as a combat vet ( 2 tours in RVN) every day is a little of both as you can’t forget those you served with or those comrads within those units who were wounded or paid the ultimate sacrifce for this great nation. I am sure I’m not the only one who feels that way. To all who served before me, with me and after me; I thank you for you service. On this Veteran’s Day, I ask all vets who read this to once again contemplate the oath you took to uphold and defend this country’s constitution. We are living in troubled times and I can see a day in the not so distant future when you may have to make a decision on whether you are going to abide by that oath or discard it. Hopefully it will be the first choice presented.
