Fred, thanks for the rememberance on this Veteran's Day. Its just that this Country sets aside two days a year for the Armed Forces. One for the living(Veteran's Day) and one for the dead(Memorial Day). For me as a combat vet ( 2 tours in RVN) every day is a little of both as you can't forget those you served with or those comrads within those units who were wounded or paid the ultimate sacrifce for this great nation. I am sure I'm not the only one who feels that way. To all who served before me, with me and after me; I thank you for you service. On this Veteran's Day, I ask all vets who read this to once again contemplate the oath you took to uphold and defend this country's constitution. We are living in troubled times and I can see a day in the not so distant future when you may have to make a decision on whether you are going to abide by that oath or discard it. Hopefully it will be the first choice presented.

ARLINGTON, Va. — President Barack Obama paid fond tribute today to the determination of the U.S. military, from those who served generations ago to today's troops fighting in Afghanistan, Iraq and missions around the world.

"To all of them — to our veterans, to the fallen and to their families — there is no tribute, not commemoration, no praise that can truly match the magnitude of your service and your sacrifice," Obama said in a traditional Veterans Day ceremony at the hallowed Arlington National Cemetery. SOURCE
Duty, honor, service, sacrifice... Obama has NO concept... Veterans Day is a celebration for LIVING Veterans, Memorial Day is for those who have passed and their celebration is traditionally at Arlington and the Tomb of the Unknown... Another gaff brought to you by the Poser in Chief!

Aha!

Out of the blue, this morning the nursing home presented all veterans there with a rose and a card for Veterans Day.

Mr. AOW just phoned me with this information. He was so pleased to have his service to our nation acknowledged!
