My deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of this officer. It defies logic that those who “serve and protect” we citizens, should be cut down by anyone before their time. They, like our brave troops, firemen and emergency service personnel risk their lives to help others everyday. This breaks my heart. May God bless and lend comfort to his widow and children.

Michelle Malkin wrote an excellent article this morning called The War On Cops

The total number of law enforcement officers shot and killed this year is up 19 percent over last year, according to the Christian Science Monitor. More officers have died in ambush incidents this year than in any other since 2000.

She continues,

A militant online group called the National Black Foot Soldier Network celebrated Clemmons as a "Crowned BOW (Black on White) Martyr" and dubbed the Lakewood ambush a "preemptive strike on terrorists."

What appears to be happening is an under-current of racial tension that has been simmering for years is beginning to boil over; seemingly emboldened by the (1/2) race of our current president. The question is will this turn into an all out 'black on white' crime fest...

My prayers are with the family of officer Davis. Traffic stops are more dangerous than most realize and those night time stop are particularly hazardous. I noticed what seems to be an increase in this type of incident these past few years. I know there are budget restraints, but it would help if these officers could have a parner with them. I would rather see a few speeders get away and avoid this, as much as I hate those who constantly speed on our highways disregarding others in their haste to gain only a few minutes. Lets hope the killer faces quick justice and not a long, long drawn out procedure that our judical system is famous for. The public should begin to demand quick justice for these killers.
