Ahmadinejad condemned by host

September 24th, 2007 . by TexasFred

NEW YORK - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad questioned the official version of the Sept. 11 attacks and defended the right to cast doubt on the Holocaust in a tense appearance at Columbia University, whose president accused the hard-line leader of behaving like “a petty and cruel dictator.”

Columbia President Lee Bollinger and audience members took Ahmadinejad to task over Iran’s human-rights record and foreign policy, as well as Ahmadinejad’s statements denying the Holocaust and calling for the disappearance of Israel.

Ahmadinejad smiled at first but appeared increasingly agitated, decrying the “insults” and “unfriendly treatment.”

Bollinger said Ahmadinejad’s denial of the Holocaust might fool the illiterate and ignorant.

“When you come to a place like this it makes you simply ridiculous,” Bollinger said. “The truth is that the Holocaust is the most documented event in human history.”

Ahmadinejad condemned by host

OK, let’s face a few facts, Columbia University is not known for being a bastion of conservatism, it has been a notorious hotbed of liberalism, tried and true, and I am very confused by the words of Columbia President Lee Bollinger, and I have some doubts as to their sincerity…

Maybe I’m wrong, I just don’t know now and I hate this feeling, did Columbia invite Ahmadinejad to speak in a deliberate attempt to make him look like the fool he is?? Was that the intent and were Bollinger’s words spoken from the heart, or, did Bollinger get the word from Columbia’s very well heeled alumni and supporters that he had just stepped in a huge pile of camel crap and he needed to extricate Columbia from this debacle poste-haste??

Ahmadinejad undoubtedly made a blabbering fool of himself, he rambled, he had no point to his speech and even his denigration of the USA wasn’t as fierce in it’s delivery as I had expected, and he dodged Bollinger’s questions and accusations like a real political pro, but I am more than a bit puzzled by the hard line stance taken by Columbia President Lee Bollinger…

I’d love to hear the conversations that took place in private prior to Ahmadinejad taking the podium, something is just not ringing up right on this one, a known liberal University inviting a known anti-USA, terror supporting moonbat to speak and then doing everything possible to insult him, and to pin him down concerning the specifics of his atomic program and his ‘wipe Israel off the map’ statements??

Go figure…

Do you really believe that Columbia invited him because they’re Anti-American and Pro-Iran?

I’m was not for him speaking today at Columbia but that’s what a university does, they make you think. He came off as a complete idiot and it showed the World who this Raghead really is, nothing.

I have to disagree with you on this one Fred. They invited him to do just what they did, make him look like a fool and they did.

As far as Conservative or Liberal, I don’t know of anyone more Anti-American than George W. Bush and he’s a Conservative or so he thinks.

You had several good points Fred, as usual. I too was confused by the reception by their speaker and “insults” that Abinamonkey said were thrown towards him.
I disagree with Ranando. I think that the Colombia University staff, a very liberal organization, wanted to invite him to further his and their views.
Apparently, the Alumni, many of them Jewish, protested his appearance and the Alumni hold the purse strings and Colombia responded, as they needed to, to keep their money people supporting them.

Ranando, I think Bollinger has a lot of people VERY confused right now… I am one of them, I heard exactly what you did, and I’m not buying it, Bollinger had a hand up his ass, like a puppet, and that hand was attached to a check book I believe…

I mean after all….That University is KNOWN as a bastion of Liberalism, short of the Liberal Meathead thinking in San Francisco or Berkley.
To think that they would invite Abinomonkey to insult him as their ultimate goal is nothing short of … do I dare say it…..NON THINKING on your part.
They invited him and they got their short hairs in a wedge from the people with the money…period in my book.
They screwed up as seen by the protesters and such.
They had to take a stance to redeem themselves and they did, that is why it is so confusing to us conservatives, who recognize that University as a melting pot of liberal destruction of America concepts and ideologies to have insulted and put Iran’s Leader on the spot.
    ‘Nuff said

I’m totally with you Fred and Sage, and thanks for the comment Fred. I believe that the only reason that this Bollinger was “slightly prickly” with Ahmanutjob (Because I refuse to say that he was tough on him) was because of the media attention on this event. This was the same university that had students attack the Minutemen founder and Bollinger in the past has been very hostile towards having conservatives speak.

I will lay my money down and say that if the public focus had not been on this story, Bollinger would have shot nothing but softball questions and this would have been an even larger liberal tea party then it was already.

For God’s sakes the students and faculty were applauding and cheering the guy on.

Here’s what I think…. (adjust’s my tin foil hat to get better reception)

    Iminajihad comes to our shores…
We intercept advanced ground to air missles that were being smuggled into Iraq…

Texas Fred rubs on a glossy bald guys head….
Karl Rove has the missles immediatly placed in the best hands for that job that needs doing…

Iminajihad’s plane is lost over the Atlantic, some said that the fireball was like that of the twin towers falling…

    Imagine that! :)

Bollinger was feeling some heat and did it to attempt to semi-pull his fat outta the fire. They were, trust me, self-serving comments only meant to confuse and/or portray him in a sturdier, more steadfast light — a light he does NOT deserve. He signed off on Ahmadinejad and that’s the bottom line.
