Dems Can’t Make Guarantee on Iraq Troops

September 26th, 2007 . by TexasFred

HANOVER, N.H. (AP) – The leading Democratic White House hopefuls conceded Wednesday night they cannot guarantee to pull all U.S. combat troops from Iraq by the end of the next presidential term in 2013.

“I think it’s hard to project four years from now,” said Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois in the opening moments of a campaign debate in the nation’s first primary state.

“It is very difficult to know what we’re going to be inheriting,” added Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York.

“I cannot make that commitment,” said former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina.

Well by God, some of the Dems have come to their senses, I have to say, it’s about time, they have got to face reality, Iraq is a place we didn’t need to go but now that Bush has us so fully involved, there’s no way in hell we can just pack up and walk away, we should, but we can’t…

And we didn’t lose the war either, I am STILL waiting to hear a Dem say that, we didn’t lose the war, how hard can it be to say?? We did screw up the aftermath OF the war, screwed it all to hell and back but our troops didn’t lose their battle, they did the job they were sent to do and then were saddled with the rules of a micromanaging POTUS, and until such time as I hear people like Pelosi, Reid and Murtha say that, and BEG for forgiveness, I will have NO respect, nor mercy, on the Dems and the DNC, none of them…

Sensing an opening, Sen. Christopher Dodd of Connecticut and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson provided the assurances the others would not.

“I’ll get the job done,” said Dodd, while Richardson said he would make sure the troops were home by the end of his first year in office.

I don’t know if Dodd and Richardson are total dumbasses or are they just that delusional, no one is going to have us OUT of Iraq in their 1st year, NO ONE, not ANY Dem or Republican, it’s NOT going to happen that way and any candidate that says it will is a fool, as is any voter that would be stupid enough to fall FOR that BS…

It’s going to take a lot more than politicos and their pandering promises to get us out of Iraq, and so far I have not heard one word from ANY of them that sounds like anything more than hot air being blown up a few skirts as they try to scare up some voter support…

Folks, we can’t be led down the same path we were on the last 2 elections, we can’t allow this nation to fall any further than it already has, the Dems don’t have any solid answers and so far neither do the Repubs, we have got to ask the HARD questions and demand truthful answers, and we must NEVER again settle for the lesser of 2 evils…

The lesser of 2 evils is STILL evil…

I won’t be voting for the lesser of 2 evils again, for me the election is less about Iraq than it is about our border security.
Iraq is going to sink or swim by march, the next report should be very telling, if things are Really better it will show by then, if not Bush will have to cut his losses because the Rep’s are….
The Dem’s are doing everything possible to make sure that MORE people are dead by march, so Iraq fails and they win… they win by costing more American lives.. how Ironic.
I’ll never vote DEM, EVER for any reason I’ll vote Conservative ONLY, if that means I write in a candidate thats what happens.

The dim-a-crits nor the RINOs want to have to take the blame for a blood bath that will follow a pull out but neither has the guts to do what has to be done to win.

Have we lost? Years ago I was taught that wars are the result of failed diplomacy and even though the military wins all the battles if the political objective was not accomplished then it is a lost war.

In Iraq it seems to me the original objectives were accomplished..Saddam is dead, there are no real dangers of WMDs from Iraq, and the Iraqis have a democratically elected government..such as it is. From that view point mission was accomplished both militarily and politically. But, seems that not only have the political objectives changed..HELL! What are they? The rules of engagement have changed to the point that our troops are barely able to protect themselves from the bad guys..and they don’t even know for sure who are the bad guys.

We are caught up in the middle of a civil war and are playing both sides against the middle..a losing proposition at best and gets people killed needlessly at worst.

If I had my “druthers” I’d “druther” see the USA take out the Iraqi government, kill every fuckin’ Mullah in Iraq and kick ass to the point that the people were on their knees begging for the whuppin to stop. TOTAL submission and then maybe..just maybe a new government over seen by a Gvernor General could be established and maybe..again just maybe..in adecade or so the Iraqis could be taught to self rule. But if their history is any indication of their future this is also doubtful.

The answer? Get the fuck out of Dodge. Let them fight it out and then make a deal for oil with who ever comes out on top. But if we do that then we also have to let Iran know with some shock and awe to stay the hell out of it…but the politicians don’t have the balls to pull out nor the balls to do it right if they stay..we need some new leadership in this country and neither the dim-a-crits nor the GOP is offering anything but more of the same.

The Vietnam parallel rears its ugly head. This time not as a jab at Bush, but as the typical DimmocRAT run and hide maneuver.

1973: abandon Vietnam and the 58,000 men who gave their lives on the word of a government without the balls and intestinal fortitude to stick it out and let the military do what it does best. Kill commie bastards. So the NVA comes in, and hundreds of thousands of South Vietnamese intellectuals, professionals, etc are murdered or locked away for years as “re-education.” Meanwhile, In Cambodia, the Khmer Rouge under Pol Pot murder almost 2 MILLION of their best and brightest who are perceived as threats to communism. Alleged President Thieu runs away with his tail between his legs, along with apx $50 MILLION dollars worth of gold … gold he accumulated from selling US aid on the black market and banking it.

Those 58,000 boys died for nothing, because the fucking DimocRATS had no guts. They still don’t, and never will.

Now they try to do the same thing in Iraq. Cut and run, abandon our military when they need supplied, place ridiculous limits on the ROE – in effect making soldiers and Marines who defend themselves open to charges of murder.

They have no shame, these scumbags. None. I wouldn’t piss on any of them if they were on fire. Fuck’em – let them burn, the bastards.

Even UK’s magazine “The Economist” agrees that the US should stay. You think THIS situation is frustrating? I’m with Bruce: 58,000 lives pissed away for, essentially, nothing. How could one possibly live with that, in the admin or on the ground? So sad, so horrible, so, so. . .

The ROE? Forcing our soldiers in many instances to be cops? I’M a cop and even I KNOW my job differs MARKEDLY from that of a soldier. I don’t try to be a soldier, and soldiers shouldn’t have to be forced to become cops.
