Saints win Super Bowl, 31-17 over Colts

MIAMI, Fla. (AP) – Who Dat won the Super Bowl? The New Orleans Saints, that’s who.

Ain’t kidding. Put away those paper bags forever: Drew Brees and the Saints are NFL champions, rallying to upset Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 Sunday night in one of pro football’s most thrilling title games.

Brees tied a Super Bowl record with 32 completions, the last a 2-yard slant to Jeremy Shockey for the winning points with 5:42 remaining. The Pro Bowl quarterback was chosen Super Bowl MVP.

“We just believed in ourselves and we knew that we had an entire city and maybe an entire country behind us,” Brees said. “What can I say? I tried to imagine what this moment would be like for a long time and it’s better than expected.”

I don’t like New Orleans politics, but the Saints aren’t politics, they are the New Orleans Saints and they have won the Super Bowl!

The New Orleans Saints were founded in 1967, that’s how long I have been a Saints fan. Through all the bad times, the hard times, The Ain’ts, all of it. I thought Archie Manning was the greatest thing in football. I said for many years, had Archie gone to a team like Dallas, HE would have won some Super Bowls!

For years I have always responded with “When the Saints win the Super Bowl” when someone asked me when I was going to do something I had NO intention of doing… Guess I gotta look for a better excuse… WHO DAT!!!

Congratulations to the New Orleans Saints! I am very proud to have lived long enough to see this wonderful night!

Hell has frozen over, the Saints won the Super Bowl! :P

I’m happy for the Saints, although I’ve never been a big pro ball fan. I bet it’s wild tonight in the French Quarter—almost wish I could be there. The Saints have always had some of the most loyal fans in pro ball and its got to be crazy tonight in the Big Easy. It was a great game and came down to that one pass by Manning.

I started to go this year to Mardi Gras….guess it’s best I didn’t. I would have probably been killed by falling bricks in the French quarters when the roar and yelling started making the old buildings fall after the Saints won tonight.

I’ll have to call my brother ( who lives in N.O. ) tomorrow to see if he surived the night.

Not that New Orleans needs a reason to PARTY…but tonights party won’t end until midnight on Tuesday.

    Congrats to the Saints!

  6. mrchuck says:

The Saints win was the most POSITIVE thing that has happened to New Orleans ever!
The second most positive thing was voting out of office the corrupt mayor Ray “choclate” Nagin. Let’s hope that the flood waters never return.

I’m not one tp watch pro football, or anything else pro for that matter.
One of the reasons was yesterday when the colts were running the ball and making pretty good yards on the ground, then when they get to the 4 yard line and needed to score …….. manning tries 4 times to throw the dam thing and gets it picked off. Hell he could have run it himself a couple of those times(wide open) but I think the spoiled little millionaire was afraid he’d mess up his makeup if he got tackeled. Him and his 5 yaed passes……..they deserved to lose. Congratulations Saints!!

  8. BobF says:

No comment: I wanted the Colts.

  9. I congratulate the Saints on an uber impressive win. I am a Colts fan but I am also one who loves a great American success story.
Who’d have thought when the Saints were going through the rough times after Katrina that they would have won the Super Bowl in 2010??? They earned the rings last night and earned the respect they deserve.

As far as Peyton Manning being a spoilt millionaire goes… he built a children’s wing at St. Vincent’s in Indy and does many charitable works in the Indianapolis area. Not many pro sports figures in Indy have given back to the community like Manning has. I might also add that he, like TexasFred, is a son of Louisiana. I do agree that sometimes he seems to emit an attitude but it could be more intensity than snobbery. I don’t really know. Just wanted to stand up for the good things he does that many may not know about.

Oh… and Drew Bress honed his skills at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana!!!! *wink* Smart Texan, with a great degree and outstanding Quaterback Skills! Now an MVP!!!! Congratulations to him!!!!
