San Diego students storm offices after noose found

SAN DIEGO (AP) – Anger boiled over on the University of California San Diego campus Friday, where students took over the chancellor’s office for several hours to protest the hanging of a noose in a campus library.

Students wearing red handkerchiefs over their faces blocked the doors to Chancellor Marye Anne Fox’s offices for hours, while more students inside chanted “Real pain, real change.”

They left the office peacefully at sundown, about the same time that leaders of the university’s Black Student Union ended talks with administrators in a nearby conference room over demands that include more boosting the African-American curriculum and campus activities. A university spokesman, Jeff Gattas, said there were no arrests and no property was damaged during the takeover.

The noose found dangling from a light fixture on the seventh floor of Geisel Library on Thursday night was the latest in a string of racially charged incidents in the university community, authorities said Friday. Less than two weeks ago, an off-campus party mocking Black History Month ignited racial tensions.

You have got to be kidding me, THIS is the cause of a racially charged incident?

I can see how it might be the source of some racial tension if there was an effigy attached, one that may be of a particular ethnicity, and yeah, if there had actually been a body attached to the noose, of a particular ethnicity, that too would qualify as a racially charged incident.

But this was over a noose. Just a plain old noose.

A University of California statement said a student admitted she and two other people were responsible. The statement did not identify the students or their race or include a motive.

In a news conference Friday afternoon, Fox said the student has been suspended but declined to discuss her motive or other students involved.

Motive? Are they serious? These are college kids, probably Frat or Sorority kids. They don’t need a motive, all they need is an idea and an opportunity. Unless, unless I say, unless they are members of The Old South Fraternity, Kappa Alpha.

Everyone knows what an EVIL bunch of racists KA is.

Kappa Alpha Order (commonly known as Kappa Alpha, KA, or “the Order”) is a social fraternity and fraternal order. Kappa Alpha Order has 124 active chapters, 3 provisional chapters, and 2 commissions. The Order boasts more than 149,000 initiated members. SOURCE

Those KA dudes are teh PURE EVIL I tell you, teh pure evil. 😈

Hundreds of students rallied for several hours outside the university administration building Friday, where speakers denounced the noose as an example of intolerance on a campus where less than 2 percent of students are black.

There are people in this world that spend their entire lives looking for things to be offended over, I’m thinking that this bunch at UC San Diego may be a part of that particular demographic.

To blacks, a noose recalls the days of widespread racism and lynchings.

“How am I supposed to walk into that building? How am I ever going to be safe there?” said ethnic studies major Cheyenne Stevens, who is black.

Mustafa Shahryar, 21, said he had seen the noose as he left the library.

Shahryar, who is from Afghanistan, told the crowd he grew accustomed to racial slurs while growing up in Southern California but was stunned to see the noose.

“Nothing phased me until last night,” he said. “I just took that noose as an attack on all of us.”

All of this from a noose? And an Afghan student jumps on the bad wagon? Over a noose?

Between 1882 and 1968, the Tuskegee Institute recorded 3,437 lynchings of African Americans and 1,293 lynchings of whites. Southern states created new constitutions between 1890–1908 with provisions that effectively disenfranchised most blacks, as well as many poor whites. People who were not permitted to vote were also not permitted to serve on juries, further excluding these constituents from the political process. SOURCE

So, let’s get off of that race baiting high horse. Black folks don’t have a corner on the market when it comes to being strung up!

Granted, more Blacks were lynched than whites, but, 1,293 white people being lynched is nothing to laugh about, yet somehow, I’m not racially offended by someone hanging a noose on an inanimate or ornate object.

There have been a lot of prejudicial matters since the beginning of this nation. It seems that some Black folks are the only ones with a chip on their shoulder, the only ones that seek payment of reparations and so forth, and are the only ones that see racial prejudice in every action committed by some person NOT of the Black race. Not ALL Black people are that way, but the ones that are sure make it tough on those that aren’t.

If you’re looking for something to be offended over, I am certain you’ll find it. This article, my words, the noose, whatever, but if it does offend you, that’s just too bad. Get over it and LOSE the race baiting mentality. It’s NOT all about race and color, but there sure are a lot of folks that want to make it about race and color.

Some of us try to avoid it too, but we’ll happily oblige the race baiters if pushed into it! 😈

Crap like this is utterly ridiculous. The students didn’t like the noose, so they storm the Deans office? If like the Dean had anything to do with it. But, because of the incident, they’re going to get more curriculum of African-American studies and campus activities.

A few years back the University of Central Missouri suspended a fraternity for holding a racially insensitive party around MLK day. The great offense was that they wore baggy pants and ate chicken. And, the fraternity had Black members who were also at the party.

Any fabricated reason they make up, or take issue with, is what the BLACK STUDENTS want!!!
Always wave your banner of the downtrodden.
This is exactly out of the Communist playbook.
And an Afghanistan student joins in with the blacks!!

Communist, socialist black power smelly horseshit!

This is what one is taught in black studies.
Riots come next for the downtrodden!

I served in the Watts Riot August 1965, and still have the scars from it,, that I suffer,,,,, and bear every day.

So, come on black people,,,riot again,,,, I dare you.

Let’s see now…the last time I saw a hanging noose is when it was around the neck of Saddam Hussein as he dangled from it….and that’s a GOOD thing.

Before long these nuts will be protesting because a new Fried Chicken Hut is opening up down the street….or because some farmer has set up a watermelon stand on the corner.

What modern history no longer teaches was that almost one-third of those lynched by the KKK were White Republicans and a large percentage of the others were Jews. Blacks only compromised about one-third of the lynchings but for some reason they’re the only ones offended by a noose.

This from Wikipedia: During Reconstruction, the Ku Klux Klan and others used lynching as a means to control African Americans, forcing them to work for planters and preventing them from exercising their right to vote. White Republicans were often victims of lynching as well in the post-war period.

I’m so sick and tired of this victim mentality where people see something, get offended, and use it as a reason for civil disobedience…and, they get away with it.

I guess the Pace Picante Sauce commercial when, after discovering another salsa was ‘Made in New York City’, a character pined ‘Get a rope’ was also racially motivated…

  7. minuteman26 says:

Maybe the solution is to hang the students. Another incident from the land of fruits and nuts.

  8. Vigilante says:

and an afghani ??? Puhleeeze. In other words they want the college to put more basketball hoops in the dorm rooms so they can practice, er, I mean…..study for future exams.
Screw these blacks that carry this so called “chip” on their shoulder that the lameass news media has played a hugh part in putting it there. This old dog just don’t play this racist game, never did, never will. I don’t owe them shittttt especially that goat fuckin afghani that’s probably over here getting educated while OUR boys of the same age are getting killed so his 7th century ass can mouth off about a frikken noose. He should be lucky he ain’t in it. I’m sure the taliban
could arrange it when he goes back…..if he does go back.

  9. To be blunt, I was just a tad amazed at this. UCSD has, over the years prided itself that it stayed with academic research and education, unlike the Berkley, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles campuses. My Alma Mater appears to have gone off the deep end. Oh well… I suppose that noose could, or should be put to a practical use then…

  10. Kate says:

When it comes to colleges, nothing surprises me anymore….well, except for the Boracle nonsense. But seriously, an Afghani got his knickers in a twist over a piece of rope? Has he looked at what is going on in his own country? It wouldn’t have been just an empty noose. It would have had a body attached.

Perhaps I’m being a bit of the bog dweller here, but maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to get rid of publicly funded so called institutions of higher learning, and go back to the original PRIVATE colleges.

  11. The noose was left by stupid college kids who purposely perform stupid college crap. Because they want to get emotional RESULTS from people.

Never in this nation’s history have I been witness to a greater mass of pussified and “sensitive” young people — or the bulk of Americans, for that matter — ready, willing, able and SPECIFICALLY LOOKING to BECOME “victims” of whatever little Umbrage Of The Hour they sense.

Jesus, people, you are so NOT gonna like it in the REAL WORLD.

Is it ANY WONDER, ladies and gentlemen, that we’re apparently, then, getting the POLITICIANS we DESERVE??

And we only did it after we ate our first meal in the cafeteria.

Now that really was a reason for a riot (or food fight).
