I'll say this right now: Marcia is SPOT ON. There is, as we ALL know, a MAJOR disconnect between the "law makers" and the electorate. I have always said and shall always believe, and said it openly to all my trainees: "until a sufficient numbers of judges are beaten, robbed, stabbed, targeted for death, buttfucked, burned with cigarettes, shot between the eyes, raped, hit in the head with pipes, had their wives and husbands killed by drunk drivers, shot for their hip-hop coat or their tennis shoes -- well, things won't change.

I would apply that principle to all politicians as well.

They have no idea how to run businesses, how to meet a payroll, how to even balance their checkbooks much less live on anything resembling any kind of sensible budget.

Disconnect. Period.

As someone that receives social security I feel a certain ache in my nuts as a result of just being kicked there by our wonderful government once again.

Its time some of the people at the top try to live on the money's we get per month. After working over 30 years I had to have major back surgery twice. After fighting for over 2 and a half years it was decided that I should be on full disability. Instead of spending all the moneys fighting these claims why in the world don't we get some doctors in there that know what they are doing? Or better yet why does a doctor get training when the SS administration will not except what they say!! Two years of fighting to find out the same thing I knew when I started that I was unable to work. The time and money spent on these types of cases are crazy!!

The increases in our SS are a slap in the face. Especially when most of the raises go toward the increase in our medical. Wake up Washington bring our troops home and start spending money on what counts. In a country like ours we shouldn't have people on the streets, older people living in poverty or people with medical problems fighting to live.

I don't ever count Social Security into the over-all picture of my well being.

Many hard-working Americans do and for them I feel sorry.

When my wife died, I collected Social Security for my youngest son who was still in school. When he turned 18 and graduated high school, the money immediately ceased. I still carry my son under my medical coverage while he's in college but you don't get Social Security which I don't understand. The SS money I got was his mothers contribution to his care and upbringing. If his mother was still alive, she would be contributing to his college too.

Bush had a good idea of a Social Security saving account where you could leave part of your earnings to your estate. My new wife and I are in our early 50's and have been working since we were in our late teens. If we both died today, ever penny we put into the system goes to the government. It would be nice if we could leave some of that money to our children.
