One way Fred will deal with the illegal immigration problem is “attrition through enforcement.†That’s why Fred came out strongly in favor of Rep. Steve King’s bill, H.R. 3554. It would prohibit an employer from taking a deduction for wages paid to illegal aliens while providing safe harbor for employers participating in the electronic verification program.
It’s time for America to start enforcing our immigration laws and stop giving businesses that hire illegal workers a free pass. A key principle of my immigration reform proposal is attrition through enforcement. I am supporting a bill by Congressman Steve King, which would deny a tax deduction to employers for the wages they pay to illegal immigrants because it provides a disincentive to employers who hire undocumented workers. Businesses in America that do not play by the rules should not be rewarded under our tax system.
Rep. King said, “I am happy that Fred Thompson has endorsed my bill and it’s because he understands that IRS enforcement can be as important as the DHS in enforcing immigration law.†Combining the efforts of multiple agencies will allow the government to more effectively enforce existing federal laws.
Read Fred’s Border Security and Immigration Reform Plan and you’ll see he’s serious about securing America while at the same time making sure the immigration process is fair, efficient, and effective.

Good stuff from my presidential candidate…
I have to tell you that I’m suprised Thompson had anything to say today.
With the writers being on strike and all.
Just my opinion.
We have a major problem which exists within the confines of the United States. The unfortunate fact is that the illegal aliens keep coming across our borders. This issue is has gone on for so long, it not isolated to any one particular state. The growing concern has now become a National problem and is deteriorating our country. Each year, legal immigration brings approximately one million people and their families to the United States to become naturalized citizens. It was not a secret that these people who considered themselves lucky would work very hard and sends money back to their families in other countries to assist them to take the same path as they did and ultimately become citizens as well. No one has an issue with their process, when it is done by legal means.
Since early 2002, the influx of illegal aliens entering into the United States has exponentially risen. To date, we have approximately 21,193,248 illegal aliens in the country (Immigration Counters). Money wired back to originating countries from tracers; amounts in over 331 billion dollars. (Id.). Making matters worse, not only is that money not put back into our economy; the government has been spending a ridiculous amount of money on these illegal aliens and their families. These figures are astounding and to date; over 379 billion dollars have been spent for social services and programs and over 14 billion dollars in educational costs for grades Kindergarten to high school years. This is a result of poor governmental controls (Immigration Counters). The illegal immigration crisis now impacts all aspects of society and is unprecedented in American history. (Id.). This problem has been handled before and is part of the United States history. Once was back in the Great Depression when President Herbert Hoover ordered the deportation of all illegal aliens in order to make jobs available to American citizens who desperately needed work (Behmlander). And then in 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower deported 13 million Mexican nationals illegally in the United States (today we call them illegal immigrants) so the American WWII and Korean veterans could have a better chance at jobs. (Id.). The program was called “Operation Wet-back.†It took two years, but the government deported them. (Id.). As recent as last week, the government has allowed the illegal aliens to hold public protests. There is something wrong with that imagery. All of the protestors should have been apprehended and deported. If there were American citizens mixed in, then they should have been sent home unless they broke any laws. With looking at the current situation, it would take longer than two years to deport all of the illegal aliens like in Eisenhower’s era.
The United States enjoys the world’s highest standard of living (Center for Immigration Studies). “Poverty” by U.S. standards is a far better lot than real poverty as it occurs in most of the third world countries, and those living in America below the official “poverty line” often have living quarters and First World “creature comforts” that those in other nations’ middle classes lack. (Id.). The United States affords a stable political system, a legal system based on the rule of law, broad individual liberty and economic opportunity, a sound economy, and generous government welfare entitlements, in addition to extremely generous private charity. (Id.). America is relatively free of public corruption and offers a safe, secure place to live. (Id.). By comparison to many places, would-be immigrants may view the United States as a land of vast wealth where the streets are seemingly paved with 14-karat gold. (Id.). These illegal aliens do not know how to live the way we live and would turn our Nation into the People’s Republic of Amerika, with allowing amnesty. Another attraction is the availability of labor intensive jobs. This allows unscrupulous employers to hire illegal aliens knowingly. Then the employer makes them work long hours for peanuts. This is no life for an American and we know this. In Woodbridge, Virginia; if elected; Mr. Royse said he would scrutinize employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants who might be breaking other laws and appoint a committee to take complaints about people hiring illegal immigrants and overcrowding, as well as complaints of discrimination (Walker). The big picture here is that these people are not protected by our [The United States] laws.
Not all of our politicians are like Mr. Royse. Many of the politicians are bleeding heart liberals who want to appeal to the human element of this issue, which in their mind makes them look good. Good to who would be the question? Another question would be, what part of illegal do our politicians not understand? This issue came up on the debate of October 29, 2007. It was a question about driver’s licenses for “undocumented workers” – the politically neutral terminology for “illegal aliens” which she prefers (there is nothing wrong with telling it like it is) – that created the most trouble for Clinton during last night’s two-hour debate of the Democrats staged in Philadelphia (Silva). Clinton’s leading rivals pounced on Clinton for her conflicting answers – she supports New York’s plan but says it’s not the best idea — and the GOP is pouncing today. (Id.). If someone is not in the country legally, why would we give them an identification card that enables them to drive and vote? This impacts everyone who is a citizen and taxpayer in the United States. Along with the not so intelligent politicians like Senator Clinton, we have others who want to make the official language of the United States, Spanish. The culture is being disrupted by this problem in a major way. This disruption is sending our Nation into an identity crisis. Some of the schools have been teaching our children the Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish. Excuse me but, the pledge is to this country born from the sweat of our forefathers whom were English, our flag the stars and stripes and the native language is English. We need to look toward the future of our Nation and at what will become of it; if we allow amnesty of the illegal aliens. We are looking at a gigantic welfare state in the making, based on the numbers provided by Center for Immigration Studies.
I do not want my country to become something it was never meant to be. It will make the 22 years I served to protect it mean nothing. I want my children to have all the opportunities they are entitled to in their lifetime. “America is for Americans†and those who wish to naturalize legally. It is hard to believe that our politicians, by not enforcing the rules and borders are to blame for this travesty. Someone has not been doing their job. It is time for a change. The solutions for this problem are simplistic, if you choose to be a part of and enforce them. If the people could have all of the states officials unanimously vote on solutions to get the United States back to the status of the land of opportunity, would be the agenda. In order to achieve this monumental feat, we need to hold United States elected officials accountable for their mass immigration stances and policies by removing them from office; while we hold sanctions on Mexican authorities who cross into the U.S. responsible for violating internationally recognized borders (Dougherty). By closing legal loopholes that allow illegal aliens to gain footholds in the U.S., such as anchor babies, access to driver’s licenses, matricular consular cards, and the establishment of bank accounts. Then hold employers and owners of their businesses responsible for the hiring and aiding illegal aliens so that they would be in danger of losing all that they worked hard to achieve like offenders do when they are caught dealing in drugs, trafficking and distributing. Ensure our borders are reinforced with troops specially trained with the latest technology to handle border patrols, track and intercept illegal border crossers and ensure the safety of the Nation (Dougherty). Deport illegal aliens caught in the United States by dropping them back on the border and pointing them in the direction of the way home with orders to use equal force as placed upon the authorities. Develop one type of identification to be used within the United States and around the world which is impervious to illegal reproduction. Build prisons located along the border of Mexico and the United States to place repeat offenders of entering illegally into the United States. These prisoners [repeat offenders] will help build the impenetrable border we seek to keep the illegal aliens out of our country. If they refuse to work, they do not get provisions.
If we do not change the way our politicians are handling our country and stand up and be recognized; we are in danger of losing the land of the free. Our land would change drastically. What we will be left with is the land of free handouts, the collapse of social and moral ideals and total individualism.
