Saturday’s Snippets…

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) – With extra security on hand and holiday shoppers waiting at the doors, the Westroads Mall reopened Saturday morning, three days after a gunman killed eight people and himself at the mall’s Von Maur store.

Omaha Mall Reopens With Extra Security

I’m sure the shoppers and employees feel better with the extra security but isn’t this something along the lines of closing the barn door after the horse has wandered off??

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) – Mike Huckabee once advocated isolating AIDS patients from the general public, opposed increased federal funding in the search for a cure and said homosexuality could “pose a dangerous public health risk.”

Huckabee Wanted to Isolate AIDS Patients

And this presents a problem how?? I’m just a knuckle dragging redneck Texas Conservative but quite honestly, I see no issue here…

MANAMA, Bahrain – Persian Gulf states must demand that Iran come clean about its past nuclear ambitions and openly vow to not develop such weapons in the future, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Saturday.

Gates: Gulf states must confront Iran

If the people of the region aren’t willing to confront Iran then we don’t have a chance of getting anything done, unless we want to tie our military up for another 5 or 6 years in an Iraq style mission, and I don’t think the American people are ready for that… That means that the Bumbler in Chief will likely have troops staged and ready to go before he gets out of office…

(AP) The embattled State Department Inspector General, who has been accused of impeding a Justice Department investigation of Blackwater Worldwide, announced his resignation Friday, saying a poisonous political atmosphere in Washington deters people from careers in public service.

Embattled State Dept. Inspector Resigns

He’s with the State Dept., he’s the Inspector General and he didn’t know that his brother was an adviser to Blackwater?? WTF?? We’re supposed to believe that?? And the hits to the Bush administration just keep on coming…

BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) – Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Friday the United States would continue along a two-track strategy to deal with Iran, pressing for new sanctions and demanding Tehran come clean about its nuclear program while offering talks to sweeten the deal. But Russia ignored her calls to punish Iran.

Russia Ignores Call for Iran Sanctions

You would think that the person that’s touted as being supposedly the smartest person in the Bush White House would know, Iran and Russia have been close allies for years, getting Russia to take a stand against Iran, or vice versa, is just not going to happen…

WOW, I’ve got to take another look at this guy. Sounds like a good plan to me.

-If you stick your hand in the fire, you’re going to get burned.
-If you jump out of an airplain with a parachute, you’re going to die.
-If a man plays Rump-Ranger with another man, they’re going to get AIDS.

Russia will NEVER side against Iran in any way shape or form. They will continue to undermine us in that area of the world the way they always have.

  3. In MY country there will be this law: all those who wish to take concealed carry away from lawful residents are mandated to plant signs on their home lawns or posted on their apartment doors which read: “This Residence Is A Gun-Free Zone; The Residents Within Possess No Firearms Whatsoever.”

Exactly. This shooting was a one time event in that area, yet all the malls in my area have locked the doors just in case. If someone wants to do what that nut job did, they will find a way, at a mall or a Burger King, doesn’t matter to them.

BTW, a really good friend of mine has started a blog for his writings. I think you two would click.

Isolation of those with contagious disease always sounded like a pretty good idea to me..especially those diseases for which there is no cure.

I also figure that those who knowingly pass on the disease should be prsodecuted for murder and shot
