Triple Car Bombs in Iraq’s South Kill 41

December 12th, 2007 . by TexasFred

BAGHDAD (AP) – Three car bombs exploded in quick succession in the market district of a southern Iraqi city Wednesday, killing at least 41 people and wounding 150 in a Shiite region that has largely escaped the country’s sectarian bloodshed, authorities said.

The police chief in Amarah was fired, an immediate driving ban went into effect, and Iraqi soldiers were deployed on the streets. Hospitals were quickly overwhelmed with the casualties, which mounted as bodies were pulled from the rubble, according to a provincial spokesman.

In a Christian neighborhood in eastern Baghdad, a parked car bomb apparently targeting a passing police patrol killed five civilians, police said. Thirteen people were wounded in the late afternoon explosion in Ghadeer, police said.

The explosions in Amarah were about five minutes apart, beginning with a small blast at the entrance to the market, said Mohammed Saleh, a provincial council spokesman, elaborating on earlier accounts by police and an intelligence official.

But Baghdad is a lot quieter I am told, the surge has worked to some degree, the bad guys had the good sense to get the hell out of Baghdad and take their bombings to other, less well guarded towns…

And we know that the bombers still have a job too, nothing like job security huh Mr. Prez??

But the surge has been somewhat successful, and the Amy’s of the world are orgasmic, so, all is well right, but now I have to ask, are we gonna SURGE Iraq itself??

You know what I mean don’t you?? Do what many of us have tried to get you to do for a long time now?? Actually go on the offensive all over Iraq and secure the place so we can get back to the REAL business at hand??

Like stopping the people that ARE the world wide terrorists?? You DO remember them don’t you?? The guys in Afghanistan and Pakistan??

My good friend Gunz has a great post up in this same vein, Unscrew yourself NATO, and you know what I consider to the amazing part of this whole thing to be?? The guys that have been there, retired vets, combat Vets, disabled Vets, they are the ones being criticized and called names by the Amy’s of the world if we speak out against the war. The Amy’s of this world are all for free speech as long as they are the ones doing the speaking. A lot like the George Bush quip a while back, about dictatorships, as long as HE is the dictator.

Well, the guys that had their asses on the line have a right to speak out as well, and the folks I am referring to aren’t leftists or libbers. They are good, solid Conservatives that have served this nation in many ways and have earned a right to speak out. It doesn’t make them traitors, it makes them patriots, and those that call names and denigrate those Vets for speaking out are the ones that look like the dictators.

What did we ALL fight for? Is the opinion of a Vet not as important as that of an Army wife that’s never seen the mud?? Freedom of speech applies to ALL folks, did the Bush Bots forget that part??

Yes, I DO support the troops, they have NO choice but to go where ordered, when ordered, and I DO support the GWoT, that is a battle we must wage. Iraq isn’t the center of the GWoT. Iraq is a place some radical Islamic suicide bombers and al-Sadr’s Mahdi Army decided to use as they try and take on the U.S. military, simply because we were there, and because they were given the opportunity to do so by us.

Well, not ALL of us, by George Bush more accurately, and I will always believe that Iraq was NOT the place we needed to be, Iraq was the place Bush wanted to go, and it had NOTHING to do with Iraqi Freedom, it had everything to do with being pissed off at Saddam and wanting some revenge.

And those are thoughts echoed by MANY veterans, many that have been to Iraq and were out in the field, carrying a rifle, or a S.A.W. or riding in a gun tub on top of a Hummer, not by the pogues, the REMF’s, the guys that hang out in the rear with the gear, but by real live combat troops, the guys on the trigger.

I have had a certain Bush Bot Amy Proctor, try and tell people recently that I and others like me have hurt the war effort in Iraq. And to her I say, YOU are a desperate liar and your heart throb, George Bush, has, and still continues to mess up Iraq, and anything else he touches, Bush has hurt the effort in Iraq a hell of a lot more than folks like me, the folks that believe we needed to stay OUT of Iraq could ever have.

Folks like me and Gunz, guys that have a bit of experience in these matters, said stay out, right from the start, but the Prez gave orders, so, we then said OK, wrong place, wrong time but since we’re here, let’s break shit and take full control, but Bush didn’t do that either, not PC enough for him, so what do you get then??

An insurgency that to this very minute hasn’t been defeated, and likely, as long as Islam exists, won’t be defeated, at least not with current leadership and tactics.

But the Amy Proctors of this world call US the enemy, people like me and Gunz, simply because we tell it like it REALLY is and not how the Bush administration and the DoD want it told, and because we have the BALLS to call Bush on his bullshit, well folks, if that makes me the enemy, lock and load, you’re in for a fight like you’ve never seen, and that applies to ALL the Bush Bots, ALL of em.

Amen to that. If we ALL thought the way the Amy’s of the world wanted us to think Iraq would look much worse than it does today, and it’s still an ugly motherfucker no matter how much makeup you try to apply to it. These car bombs is a good example of that.

I’ll have to refer to an earlier comment I made on how I truly feel about the Amy’s of the world made in a previous post of yours which echo your thoughts in this post quite a bit:

I’m of the opinion that ‘WE’ are helping this war effort in Iraq if anything, if the ‘Little Prince’ thought his plan was working and his numbers in the 60- 70% range before the surge then he wouldn’t of changed a damn thing.

He’d thought he was still a genius, with no incentive to reconsider how the war was being fought. So, with that said it’s been the Amy’s of the world that are dangerous and have hurt this war by believing everything was just all in the grand scheme of things and a ‘just be patient’ type of mentality.

Bullshit! Our patience has grown thin, the people spoke and the Democrats took control of congress as a result of it. It’s the Amy’s of the world that contributed to the demise of the Republican party hanging on Bush’s coat tails and never wanting to let go because to do so would be unpatriotic?

The Amy’s of the world, or Bush bots, are self destructive, and it was the great numbers of people like us that brought the criticism, debated, and blogged about this war or how it was being fought primarily, it’s what brought about the surge that is showing signs of some success.

The Amy’s of the world had nothing to do with that IMO, it was public opinion that influenced a change in strategy… You know, the people Amy and her cronies like to crucify.

I cannot see how anyone at this stage of the game can say that this war was or is being fought “smartly”. We were promised some shock and awe and what we saw was a piss poor attempt at a fireworks show.

If we are truly fighting this war and one of the fronts is Iraq, then why the hell is Sadr still drinking tea? These guys, the “real” terrorists are watching this, the politics and mamby pamby pussy footin’ around and they are laughing at us.

And I do not understand how it is possible for a REAL conservative at this time to still stand behind Bush. I don’t hate the guy but I sure as hell wouldn’t cast a vote for him if I had that choice to make today.

    NAFTA indeed.
