PROMISES, PROMISES: Obama shies away from protests

WASHINGTON (AP) - Union leaders urged Vice President Joe Biden during a White House meeting last month to go to Wisconsin and rally the faithful in their fight against Gov. Scott Walker’s move to curtail collective bargaining rights for most public employees.

Request rebuffed, they asked for Labor Secretary Hilda Solis. So far, however, the White House has stayed away from any trips to Madison, the state capital, or other states in the throes of union battles. The Obama administration is treading carefully on the contentious political issue that has led to a national debate over the power that public sector unions wield in negotiating wages and benefits.

A few labor leaders have complained openly that President Barack Obama is ignoring a campaign pledge he made to stand with unions; most others say his public comments have been powerful enough.

The stakes are high as Obama looks toward a grueling re-election campaign. Republicans have begun airing television ads linking Obama to “union bosses” standing in the way of budget cuts in Wisconsin, Ohio and other states.

I have long contended that you don’t have to be very bright to be a union member, you just have to be very gullible.

Apparently, I was correct.

The rank and file union member is rapidly discovering that not only do their leaders rape them, steal their money and get rich off of the sweat of the rank and files brow, but even The One, the Savior, the great Barack Hussein Obama is not going to run to their aid.

Many Conservatives tried to tell you, Obama is a pandering poser. You can’t believe a word the man says, and we tried to tell you that YOU were nothing more than a vote in his pocket, nothing more. Not that the GOP offering was any better.

As a candidate, Obama seemed to promise more to organized labor, among the Democratic Party’s most loyal constituencies.

“If American workers are being denied their right to organize and collectively bargain when I’m in the White House, I’ll put on a comfortable pair of shoes myself,” Obama said at a speech in 2007. “I’ll walk on that picket line with you as president of the United States of America because workers deserve to know that somebody is standing in their corner.”

To put it bluntly, Obama lied and the union members bought it, hook, line and sinker.

Rose Ann DeMoro, executive director of National Nurses United, the nation’s largest nurses union, called Obama “largely a bystander” in the debate over collective bargaining. “I think we’re feeling a sense of betrayal from him and not liking it much,” she said.

You think you’re feeling a sense of betrayal from him? Seriously? You THINK you’re being betrayed Rose Ann?

Here’s the thing that really bothers me about that last blockquote; it is assumed that nurses are pretty well educated and as such, are smart and have a great deal of common sense. Maybe so, with our health and well being on the line, we must HOPE so, but Rose Ann DeMoro is showing that gullibility I was just writing about. She was a believer, she was a follower of Obama and the unions that support him and she’s now starting to see Obama for what he truly is.

A pandering LIAR!

Barack Hussein Obama has done only one thing that he promised to do when he was running for office, he HAS brought about great changes in this nation, and NONE of them have been for the better.

America has not prospered under the 1st Black president. America is broke. Jobs have not materialized as promised. The great racial divide in America has not been bridged. We’re still in Afghanistan and Iraq. Gitmo is still open for business and WE are now the laughingstock of the world.

Our money is almost worthless and our credibility is shot. China OWNS us. Islam wants to dominate us, or kill us, as the case may be, and Obama still has never retracted his observation of “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”

Obama needs to get his prayer rug ready because the political winds are about to shift in an ugly direction, AGAINST Obama and his regime of anti-America rhetoric and nation toppling actions.

“Budget sacrifices are one thing but, demanding that workers give up their voice is another,” Solis told the union members.

But asked whether Solis would go to Wisconsin or any other state where protesters are rallying, spokesman Carl Fillichio said she’s “keeping an eye on the situation.”

That would be a NO.

Obama and Company will go to Wisconsin, once the battle is done and there’s no chance of them having to actually DO anything that might turn anyone against them, but they WILL go back to Wisconsin, to pander for Democratic and union votes and to make more hollow promises.

There’s no question that Obama will keep getting strong re-election support from organized labor. But he stands the risk that unions won’t be as enthusiastic if he is too aloof about the attack on bargaining rights. On the other hand, it’s possible that unions will be so consumed with their own efforts to save bargaining rights, recall governors or other issues of self-preservation that they won’t have the time to work on Obama’s behalf with full vigor.

Make no mistake about it, if Obama doesn’t have full support from unions he could well find himself OUT of the 2012 race before it comes down to facing a GOP candidate.

Rumors have floated that the Dems aren’t too terribly happy with Obama either. I think that Dem strategists are well aware that Obama is vulnerable, in several ways.

There is a possibility that someone could mount a Democratic challenge to Obama. I’m not about to say who, but I’m guessing that pantsuits could become acceptable attire in the Oval Office.

Schoen, the Democratic consultant, said Obama is “trying to have it both ways.”

That is The Obama Way. Work it for all it’s worth, tell any lie necessary to fool a weak-minded and gullible voting base and place yourself in a position to win regardless of who has to take a fall.

Politics 101, nothing has changed, and from what we’re seeing offered up by the GOP so far, it appears that nothing ever will…

    Right on, Fred.

The longer I live the better I understand why my Confederate ancestors did what they did!

    May God help us!

  2. Katie says:

Obama said what he needed to say to get elected. He promised America, especially the unions, the moon with no intention of ever delivering on his promise. Now the unions are seeing that their Messiah, the Anointed One, is nothing but a false god and they are looking for a new god to worship.

This is what happened to Dhimmi Carter in 1980.

  3. Bob Mack says:

The hell with Obama. Every time I hear his name, I need an antacid.

  4. Steve Dennis says:

Many of us saw through Obama from day one; we knew there was no way that he could do everything he promised to do. He was saying whatever he needed to say to get elected and those that voted for him were hoping that even if he couldn’t do everything, he would at least keep his promise to them in particular.
In this case, I am sure Obama just misplaced his comfortable shoes, once he finds them he will be right there marching with them. :)

“pandering poser”… oh the bumper sticker of the year award could be earned on that description alone!

I’m with Longstreet, everyday I sigh and wish my ancestors had been successful! And no, they weren’t slave holders, they just didn’t like having their land invaded and pillaged by “government”! Something like we are witnessing now.

    Great post Fred.

  6. TexasFred says:

Let us hope and pray that the electorate is more wary and informed in 2012.

God help us if they aren’t…
