General: Iraqi forces far from ready
January 17th, 2008 . by TexasFredWASHINGTON – A senior military commander told a House panel on Thursday that Iraq’s security forces are on track to add another 80,000 personnel by the end of the year, but it’s a long way from becoming self-sufficient.
Lt. Gen. James Dubik, head of the Multi-National Security Transition Command, said the Iraqi defense minister has stressed to him that the country could not assume responsibility for internal security until as late as 2012. Also, it would be unable to defend its borders until at least 2018.
There are “positive signs, indeed, and steps forward, but the truth is that they simply cannot fix, supply, arm or fuel themselves completely enough at this point,†Dubik told the House Armed Services Committee.
In private discussions, Dubik said the Iraq defense minister — Abdul-Qader al-Obeidi — continually raises the point that the Iraqis need to buy more air and fire support, helicopters and logistics equipment. These purchases will likely take several years, and training Iraqi soldiers and other personnel on the new equipment will take more time after that, he said.

General: Iraqi forces far from ready
And when 2012 rolls around, it’ll be 2016, and when 2016 rolls around it’ll be some other excuse, I have tried to tell you guys, the little sheet-heads are NEVER going to stand on their own, not in OUR lifetime, maybe not in the lifetimes of our children and even further into the future…
These people, the Iraqis, and Arabs in general, are used to being under the thumb of a dictator or dying for a pedophile prophet and his screwed up, goat loving beliefs, they are NOT free thinkers and they are not leaders, they are followers and cannon fodder, nothing more…
Rep. Ike Skelton, the Democratic chairman of the panel, said he is worried that U.S. troops will be worn out in the meantime.
“Security in Iraq has improved over the past year, due to the heroic efforts of our troops. … But the question now is how do we sustain it?â€
We shouldn’t be sustaining it, the Iraqis should, but they won’t, they haven’t and they never will…
Our troops and our money are being wasted in this Bush inspired debacle, an endeavor that has cost us greatly and returned absolutely nothing, and in the long term of things, will likely continue to return us nothing as it rapidly bankrupts the nation while ‘We, the People’, the hard working taxpayers, are being forced to support this idiotic action… Â
I can’t wait to see how the Bots spin this, how many types of traitor their ilk call Lt. Gen. James Dubik for speaking the truth, Bots, the crowd that supports every action of the POTUS no matter how many American troops have to die…
How long before the General is relieved and retired?? Don’t think it won’t happen, if a General officer speaks against the POTUS, even simply disagrees with him on this Debacle in Iraq, he is done, he may as well fall on his sword because career suicide has been committed…
I’m used to being called names by the Bots for speaking out against the Debacle in Iraq, being called a fake Conservative and worse because I won’t drink the Bush mixture of lies, BS and all around deceit, nothing new there, but I am guessing that if Lt. Gen. James Dubik had time to read the blogs of a few Bush Bots, he’d be shocked to find out what kind of loser he is after spending his life defending this nation, I know I was…

It’s sad TexasFred, but I think you are correct.
I do not see the Sheet-Heads being ready for anything anytime soon.

You’re right on the money again when you say those Arabs are used to being under the thumb of a dictator. To them, the strongest person rules. It’s their way of life and has been for centuries. To go in and tell them to have a Democracy isn’t going to work. Also, what makes us think every nation on Earth wants to live under a Democracy? Some people are perfectly happy living under dictators, communism, kings, queens, or whatever.
Top Gun, it only took 4 years to win WWII but what many people don’t know is that a German Insurgency carried on for a few years after Germany surrendered. We still have Occupation Forces in Germany and Japan. Here’s an article on it: http://www.canadafreepress.com/2005/rubin082005.htm
Something else I didn’t have time to mention earlier. I saw this on the History Channel. After WWII, when our forces went after the Insurgents in Germany, they would offer them one chance to surrender and then gave no mercy if they failed to surrender. If the insurgents were holed up in a building, they were given a chance to surrender. If they failed to surrender, our forces would go in and no Insurgents would come out alive. They knew that if we had to go in, it was to kill them all. Take that in contrast to Iraq when Insurgents are holed up in a Mosque. They can shoot rockets and guns all day at our troops and their isn’t a thing they can do about it. Quite a difference between Harry Turman and GW Bush on how they took care of things.
Bob, Harry had BALLS… Bush is a douche bag…
I’ll admit this: it simply didn’t go like I thought. I expected overwhelming force, much shit blown up. When Bush was excoriated for overreacting, I accuse him of under-reacting. Then and now.
I am seriously re-evaluating my position in the Republican Party, and as a Conservative.
BZ
BZ, conservatism is alive and well, nothing to re-evaluate there, all we have to do is find like minded individuals and get us a viable 3rd party going, in the name of conservatism, and never let some bubble headed asshole that can’t pronounce conservatism and NUCLEAR in the party…
Bush is a disaster, he was the lesser of 2 evils I speak of, he is what you get when you don’t demand and expect the very best, and we’re about to be saddled with that same thing one again…
As much as it pains many for me to say it, even Fred D. Thompson will be the lesser of 2 evils IF by some quirk of fate he survives the campaign train and wins the nomination, the only 2 candidates that I personally consider to NOT be the lesser are Tancredo and Hunter, and unless someone has the foresight to name one of them as a running mate, it’s pretty much a choice of Dem or no so lite, Dem Lite…
