Rush Limbaugh: May Not Support GOP Nominee
January 23rd, 2008 . by TexasFredConservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh stunned his listeners by announcing that he might not support the Republican presidential nominee in this year’s election.
Limbaugh said on Monday’s show: “I can see possibly not supporting the Republican nominee this election, and I never thought that I would say that in my life.”
The reason: ‘You don’t have a genuine down-the-list conservative among the GOP candidates.’
“Wherever you go here in this roster of candidates, you’re going to be able to point out not conservative, what he did there is not conservative” Rush said.
The Republican front-runners want the nomination “because it’s their turn,” he also stated. “We tried that in ‘96 with Bob Dole and now they’re running the same scenario.”
“I’m telling ya, it’s gonna come down to which guy do we dislike the least. And that’s not necessarily good.”
After Rush’s pronouncements, Los Angeles Times blogger Andrew Malcolm wrote: ‘Across the country, people were dropping their coffee cups, choking on sandwiches, fainting and driving off the road. The king of conservative talk radio not supporting the Republican nominee?’
But Limbaugh’s remarks are not quite so surprising in light of statements he made about GOP candidates Mike Huckabee and John McCain last week: ‘I’m here to tell you, if either of these two guys get the nomination, it’s going to destroy the Republican Party. It’s going to change it forever, be the end of it. A lot of people aren’t going to vote. You watch.’
OK, that’s it, the world is officially going to come to an end, even the mighty el Rushbo has had enough of the pandering politicos…
Rush is even saying it’s going to be the ‘lesser of 2 evils’ and when Rush says that ‘None of the Above’ is a real possibility, there’s going to be a few people that don’t like what I am thinking, but here it is, the Republicans have crapped in their own mess kits, the pillar of conservatism is calling it like it is and letting the whole world know, even he, in all his wisdom and strength, all that has backed the Republicans for as long as I can remember, he that fights liberals with one hand tied behind his back, with talent on loan from Gawwwd, even HE has had all he’s going to take and he’s not going to take any more…
It’s time people, it’s time to stand and be heard, it’s time for a real CONSERVATIVE party with real CONSERVATIVE candidates, not some lazy slugs that won’t campaign, not some asshats that pander to the Hispanics by attending a Spanish language debate, I mean REAL, serious, hard core, America 1st CONSERVATIVES that will stand for the things that made this nation great…
If ever there was a time in American history when we needed a knight in shining armor to ride in and save the day, this is it…

My thought………”Rush….where have you been….you think Bush is a conservative?” I gave up on the Republicans shortly after the beginning of the current president’s second term. The Republican leadership is sold out to “cheap” hispanic labor and globalism. It’s all about businesses making money either by out-sourcing our high paying jobs or importing cheap labor. America means nothing to them anymore. We’re just part of the “Global” market. North American Union here we come.
We are headed for a Clinton/Obama ticket and presidency. I hate to be pessimistic, but it is on the horizon. HOld on to your wallets and prepare.
Besides building yoruself a nuclear bunker in your back yard, don’t forget to tape as many Rush and Levin shows that you can. Especially the ones where they repeated over and over what the constitution was all about and what the conservatives stood for a long time ago.. CLinton or Obama will pass the bill that executes all conservative talk radio. Free speech will be basically gone after 4 years of the libs. Hopefully by then the conservative party will be able to re-vamp and come up from the ashes a party that is truly conservative. Right now we are being awakened to what is really happening in our party.. right under our noses. It is a rude awakening, but a must.
Our country will make it through 4 years of a socialist in charge, but it could take root after 8 years and do tons of damage unless we get our act together in the next 4 years and put forth a strong conservative for the 2012 election.
Although Rush hasn’t endorsed any candidate, I think he was hoping for Thompson. Whenever he spoke of a conservative candidate, Thompson’s name would come up.
Bush had a lot of folks believing/hoping he was a conservative. I thought he was during his first 4 years. It was during his second term where the true colors started showing.
Some folks, like Fred, saw it long before many of us did. The Illegal Alien issue is what opened my eyes and the eyes of many other conservatives.
I think part of the problem with today’s Conservative Party is people like Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity. I think people our sick of hearing them be so negative day in and day out. They talk and talk and talk but never have any solutions, they’re the Rosie O’Donnell’s of the Right.

Well I honestly believe that the current crop of candidates is no better than our current POTUS…
None of the above is certainly and option, but I think either would be better than a DEM…..WHY do we have to make a choice between Dumb and Dumber?
Here’s the thing: These Republican candidates have all made statements about border security, they have all called for fences and tougher controls on who comes in, they can not hide from these campaign statements, The Dems have made all but amnesty statements, and that I can not allow.
So rather than allow a Dem to take the office and grant blanket amnesty, I will have to vote R and hold their feet to the fire….I guess… There is very little option now.
I think that Conservatives who call for a “real conservative” are just cryin’ in the wind. You need to understand how things really work. There haven’t been any real conservatives who were electable on the national scene in a long time… since Goldwater. What we get are folks who talk the talk, use all the buzz words and phrases, but when they get into office they do what they feel they need to do to stay in power. That means they meddle with your life and spend lots of money. You can’t stay in power in our system if you don’t spend money.
In the generation since the Depression and the New Deal, the whole dynamic of politics has changed. The American people have become welfare dependant slugs. Most folks out there in the country who call themselves conservatives really aren’t. They say they want to government to run on the cheap, but they also want their health care paid for, or a tax break for their business, or their kids education paid for. They want their taxes cut, but they still want their retirement or social security check to arrive on time, so the Republicans who get elected can’t stop spending money.
What we have now is a two party system dividing the nation between two dependant factions. The parties tell their constituents that they are more deserving of the handout, and that the other parties constituents are less deserving. They try to guide the money towards their own folks and lower their taxes while the other party does the same when it gets into power. They both claim the want to protect your rights, but really we get to choose between two parties who want to restrict rights. The difference is over what rights they want to protect and what they want to restrict.
It’s all depressing as hell, and bound to end in something ugly. Alexis de Tocqueville once said that as soon as the citizens in this republic realized that they could vote themselves money from the public troth, we would be at the beginning of the end. The water in the commode is spiraling down, and there’s not thing we can do to stop it. Kiss your personal freedom goodbye. Both sides only want to enforce the rights that they consider appropriate. Pick the side that will fuck with you and your life the least and vote for them. That’s all were left to do. Everything else is just theatrics.

I keep pounding on the point that we need to set the agenda. We need to tell them what they better do if they are going to stay in power. Believe me, if our surge is big enough to make the threat of losing power likely, they would be putty in our hands.
The last thing any blood sucking, greed driven, self serving politician wants is to have there place at the trough denied.
To me a coward blogger is one with no link back to their site, now that’s a real coward, hiding in the wind.
Conservatism in the Republican Party is dead! The sooner we conservatives come to grips with that hard truth the better off we will be. If there was any doubt in your mind, just look at how the GOP is re-defining conservatism. Hell, now McCain is a CONSERVATIVE??? How did that happen??? Huckabee is a CONSERVATIVE??? How about Mitt and Rudy??? Same thing. This is a concerted effort by the GOP to re-define conservatism as a “moderate to liberal†form of politics. It is also an attempt by the GOP to re-define real conservatives as right wing zealots, people on the “fringe†of the Republican Party, “hangers-onâ€, wild-eyed ideologues, etc.
Forget any attempt at “changing the Republican Party back to conservativeâ€. We haven’t a prayer of accomplishing that. They used us to gain power, then they “abused†us and continue to abuse us, and I, for one, and damned tired of it!
I’m through compromising with my vote and voting for a “moderate†billing himself as a “Compassionate Conservativeâ€. I am finished giving them the benefit of the doubt and hoping I can force them to change and actually BECOME conservative.
This primary I will vote for “none of the above†and in November I will either write- in “None of the Aboveâ€, or simply leave the presidential portion of my ballot untouched.
If Conservatives have any desire to remain active in the politics of this country, in any meaningful way, we will create our own Conservative Party, a party by and for conservatives… or… we can shuffle on off to the sidelines.
Look folks, having a conservative president is one thing… but… far more important, than that, is our dream of a conservative Supreme Court. That dream is now gone! Unless we have a brokered convention, and a real conservative is nominated, it’s over. It may be over even if that should happen! It would take a campaign that moves heaven and earth to run between the convention and Election Day and win. I don’t realistically see that happening.
So, I am waiting for a Conservative Party to start up. If you hear of any action toward that end, I’d like to know about it.
Know this, I am not going to cast my vote for any of the republicans running now. The GOP got itself in this mess and it is going to get creamed in November. I do not intend to dishonor myself by casting a vote for someone who does not represent my political belief just to save the country from Bill Clinton’s third term.

First of all let’s just define what we mean by a “conservative.” Do we mean a social conservative? A fiscal conservative? The GOP candidate all seem to think Ronald Reagan was a true conservative..yeah, he did cut taxes and build up the military but he also rolled over for congress and did not cut spending thus increasing the national debt.
Bubba Bush cut taxes..and he has presided over a vibrant economy..at least until the past few months..but he damn sure is not a conservative. At least not a fiscal conservative although their is a pretty good argument from the religious right wing that his stance on abortion and stem cell research make him conservative.
So what is a conservative? Someone who believes that the least possible government is the best possible government is the best possible government? One who believes that the constitution as written has served us well and is not a “living document” subject to change at the will of an activist judge? Maybe someone who understands that taxation for the purpose of income redistribution will eventually be the downfall of the country? If so than label me a conservative. But don’t put me in the same category as those who do not believe that homosexuals have any civil rights because the ‘bible’ says they are sinners. (Maybe they should read the 14th Amendment to the Constitution) Abortion? Although I can find nothing in the constitution that says that a woman has a right to abortion I still say it ain’t my call..but it also is not the call of a judge.
I kinda figure the religious right wing has destroyed the GOP and have made a mockery out of the term ‘conservative’. This faction of the party seems to me about the same thing as the militant faction of Islam..and comments by Huckabee about wanting to change the constitution to meets his ideas of God’s agenda just reaffirm my belief.
I am ready and willing to support a candidate that has a solution to just three problems facing this country and all three are intertwined to the point that all will have to be solved before any one of them can be solved”a spiraling national debt, national security, and illegal immigration. The rest of the problems that the current crops of politicians are harping about such as the economy, abortion, gay rights, national medical care and even the tax code are minor when compared to the three I listed.
But of course there are solutions to these three problems but the solutions are those that the public don’t want to hear because it means that the solutions are gonna cost them money..either in the form of more taxes or a cut off of so called benefits.
My solution? I ain’t running for the White House but I am stock piling ammo. The day is gonna come when I am gonna need it just to protect the larder. See, when the producers get tired of being looted they are gonna quit producing. And when they do the looters will start on you and I!
But I reckon I have to agree with Rush..I just can’t support any of them either. And when I go to the polls next fall and once again vote for the “lessor of two evils” I might just puke in the polling booth..it is gonna make me sick.
“Where do we start?” is the clarion call. “Where do we start?”
I’ve been pondering this for some time.
And I think I may actually have an answer. . .

I suspect Rush will only not support the GOP if it’s McCain. If Republican voters wanted real conservatives, they would get rid of nearly all current politicians in the party. The GOP has been hijacked by neocons who support the big federal government and the imminent global union.
What is conservatism? Fiscally, it’s easier to explain and understand. Socially, it’s more difficult to comprehend what with religion and all. When it comes to foreign policy and national security, conservatism doesn’t really have a set of standards because every conflict requires unique solutions.
Without a doubt, Ron Paul is more fiscally and socially conservative than any other current GOP candidate. His looney foreign policy stances do not make him less of a conservative(maybe they make him less of a Republican). A vote for Paul sends a message of change to a party that continues to slide to the left. The GOP has forgotten about how conservatism supports giving more rights to the state level government, but Ron Paul has not forgot this basic ideal of liberty. Stop supporting these big government republicans that are sending our labor force jobs overseas.
Our state governments would work harder to keep these jobs here.
