Ministers group demands Harris County sheriff resign
Members of an African-American ministers group today called on Harris County Sheriff Tommy Thomas to step down after it was revealed that he sent e-mails depicting national civil rights figures the Revs. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton getting zapped and reduced to a puff of smoke.
The e-mail, obtained by Channel 13, shows Jackson and Sharpton as cartoon characters looking up at a star in the sky. A bubble reads: “Oh, wishing star, we wish for an end to racial strife and bigotry.”
In the next image, the two leaders disappear in a cloud of smoke.
“I wish all this hatred and bigotry would just go away,” said Rev. Robert Jefferson, pastor of Cullen Missionary Baptist Church, and a member of the Houston Ministers Against Crime, an organization that works with law enforcement officials. “He sent it to his staff promoting hate against black folk. We are not going to sit by as our public officials sit around being bigots.”
This is the second time the minister’s group has called on a public official to resign over race-sensitive e-mails. Two weeks ago, the group called for Harris County District Attorney Chuck Rosenthal to step down immediately after court documents revealed he used government computers to send and receive racist and sexually explicit e-mails.

OK, there’s the pic that has all the fine black preachers in an uproar, the Houston Chronicle didn’t have the guts to post it, but I do, what the hell, I get accused of being a racist almost daily, why change now. 
Personally, I have seen this floating around for quite some time but I am also guessing that PCness being what it is, Harris County will be needing a new Sheriff pretty soon, and that’s a damned shame too.
I don’t see how telling the truth in a cartoon can be so offensive to some people, Sharpton and Jackson are 2 of the biggest racists, and RACE BAITERS, to ever walk the earth, their demise would go a long way towards the achievement of racial equality.
If it was a pic of some Klan guys going *poof* you can bet the fine brethren would be laughing their asses off.

I’m with you Fred. These two guys have done more to keep separation and racial tension alive than anyone else in the last twenty years. Racial prejudice may have been resolved if it wasn’t for their hard work keeping it going.

The Reverends Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, while visiting a primary school class, found themselves in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meanings.
The teacher asked both men if they would like to lead the discussion of the word “tragedy”. So the illustrious Rev. Jackson asks the class for an example of a “tragedy”.
One little boy stood up and offered: “If my best friend, who lives on a farm, is playing in the field and a runaway tractor comes along and knocks him dead, that would be a tragedy.”
No,” says the Great Jesse Jackson, “that would be an accident.”
A little girl raised her hand: “If a school bus carrying 50 children drove over a cliff, killing everyone inside, that would be a tragedy”
I’m afraid not,” explains the exalted Reverend Al. “That’s what we would call a great loss.” The room goes silent. No other children volunteer.
Reverend Al searches the room. “Isn’t there someone here who can give me an example of a tragedy?”
Finally at the back of the room little Johnny raises his hand. In a stern voice he says: “If a plane carrying the Reverends Jackson and Sharpton were struck by a missile and blown to smithereens that would be a tragedy.”
Fantastic!” exclaims Jackson and Sharpton, “That’s right. And can you tell me why that would be a tragedy?”
“Well,” says little Johnny, “because it sure as hell wouldn’t be a great loss, and it probably wouldn’t be an accident either!”

I have a co-worker that was given a reprimand for sending an email about Obama, you know, the one about his upbringing. Well a couple of folks with a darker skin tone than you or I (I don’t want to offend anyone) got offended and complained that it was a racist email….THE VICTIM MENTALITY is alive and well in Cali…Hoooray…

I might suggest your commenters and readers and everyone else scout about the various blogs, left and right, on MLK’s birthday. Most all wrote comments similar to: “MLK likely wouldn’t recognize the current environment and, yet, despite that, blacks have made large strides forward.” Those two males are nothing more than self-serving Poverty Pimps, and you can quote me. Unfortunately, that sheriff will succumb to the Temper of the Times UNLESS he comes out swinging and fighting with both fists and an explanation. Absent that, the boy is toast and deserves to be so — for being that ignorant.

I think the point is that the activists aspire to the fame of those loosers. And so they’re offended and accuse the man of being a bigot. Why then doesn’t he get to ask the simple question, “Do I lose my freedom of speach when I put on this badge?”
I’ve seen that cartoon many times in the email trail, and laughed at it each time. It’s called political satire, for those with no sense of humor. The reason why we have freedom of speach is so that we can poke fun at political figures and not be punnished. Both of those shitbirds ran for president. That makes them more than civil rights figures. They’re open game.
He needs to fight it, and fight it hard and loud. Gutless politicians won’t support him though, worried about their own positions. George Orwell saw this stuff coming.

Not every african american thinks those two are saviours. I’m with the guy who said they were media whores.
