Some Thoughts on a lazy Tuesday Afternoon

An era comes to an end, Fidel Castro Resigns As Cuba’s President, that guy has been a thorn in Americas side for as long as I can remember, I don’t remember hearing of the revolutionary talk when Castro took over, but I remember the fear that swept the nation during the Cuban missile crisis, we were living in New Orleans and there was almost a panic from many people…

(Pres) Bush, traveling in Rwanda, pledged to “help the people of Cuba realize the blessings of liberty.” But he implied that wasn’t likely under Raul Castro.

Bush can’t manage his own White House, and with a plate FULL of Iraq and Afghanistan he’d be well advised to leave Cuba alone for a while…

The Supreme Court rejected a challenge Tuesday to the Bush administration’s domestic spying program. Court Rejects ACLU Challenge to Wiretaps, this sitting court is the best thing to come out of the Bush administration, and as great an accomplishment as setting a conservative majority court was, rest assured that no matter who wins in November, the court will be the 1st order of business for them to destroy…

And in the continuing saga of ‘Mr. Bush seeks a legacy’, Bush: Darfur Crisis Needs to End, from the story, ‘The president said the U.S. is using sanctions, pressure and money to help resolve the Darfur crisis that Bush calls a genocide.’, our money, mostly given to the U.N., and then wasted by them as it does little, if any good, anywhere…

I guess Ol’ Emeril is gonna really learn how to cook now, Martha Stewart Buys Emeril Franchise, I can hardly wait, but seriously, if you’ve never had the opportunity to enjoy some of Emeril’s fine food, all I can tell you is, you have never tasted heaven…

U.S. Air Force officials are warning that unless their budget is increased dramatically, and soon, the military’s high-flying branch won’t dominate the skies as it has for decades. Air Force: We’re At The Breaking Point, B.U.F.F. has been up there since 1954, there are crews flying the very same B-52′s today that there fathers flew in years past, the Air Force needs some updating, and it needs it soon…

And last, but certainly not least, Iraq Orders Police to Round Up Beggars, The Iraqi Interior Ministry has ordered police to round up beggars, vagabonds and mentally disabled people from the streets of Baghdad to prevent them from being used by insurgents as suicide bombers, a spokesman said Tuesday.

I wonder where the human rights folks are going to have to say about this?? And just wondering, don’t the poor of Iraq have ‘rights’ too?? Can you see the ACLU and their reaction if this was tried here??

U.S. officials announced today that all homeless and mentally incapacitated persons would be rounded up and protected, for their own good of course, and an official speaking on conditions of anonymity said, “This is only being done in an effort to protect the citizenry and is in no way an effort to violate the rights of anyone”…

UhHuh, and I have some property you may be interested in too… :)

Pilots flying the BUFF’s that their grandfathers flew. The BUFF is one tough aircraft and will outlive us all but it was designed back in the late 40′s and early 50′s. Our B-1′s were designed back in the late 70′s and our B-2′s came into the inventory back in 1993. In 1990 our BUFF’s numbered over 200 but today their are only about 70. We only have about 23 B-2′s right now.

We literally flew the wings off the C-141 to where they are no longer in the inventory and the KC-135 air refueling tankers are showing their age too, being manufactured in the late 50′s and early 60′s.

The Navy already retired the mighty F-14 Tomcat and who knows how long the F-15 will be flying.

Bush #1 started to dismantle the military and Clinton rapidly accelerated it. Bush #2 never got the chance to rebuild it as that was the hope of Rumsfeld prior to 9/11.

At one time our nation spent no expense in its defense but today the military has to beg to get a weapons system funded.

I want you to think on something folks. These aircraft were designed by engineers. The technology involved with their avionics and flight systems will boggle you mind and they are maintained by young men and women with only, for the most part, a high school education.

No matter where I go, no matter where I’ve been, I know I can always get the straight-scoop, right here at TexasFred’s.

Glad to see you didn’t go anywhere, Fred.

Martha Stewart buys Emeril? Really?? Martha makes my skin crawl, but Emeril’s sauces, etc are delicious…

At the risk of sounding like a conspiracy theorist, but is Fidel still alive? I’ve heard some on talk radio questioning this today……
