Outrage follows strangling death of Murphy boy

MURPHY - The parents of a boy accidentally strangled while entangled in a soccer net are speaking out about their frustrations with the city of Murphy.

Michael and Ave Cantrell said their aggravation at the city stems from a frustrating 911 call to the treatment and lack of help given by the Murphy Police Department.

The tragedy began on an October day in 2007, which was when Mrs. Cantrell said she dozed off while watching cartoons with her two boys. As she napped, one-year-old Matthew Cantrell somehow managed to wander outside of the family’s baby-proofed home. At some point, he hung himself after he became stuck in a soccer net in the backyard.

“I was trying to get his head back through the soccer net and it wouldn’t go back through,” Mrs. Cantrell said of when she discovered Matthew.

Many of you will remember the Perverted Justice story from Murphy, TX. a while back, here: http://texasfred.net/archives/119 and here: http://texasfred.net/archives/353.

The Murphy PD, and their rumored *paid involvement* in those stings cast some serious doubts upon their leadership and management.

Now it appears that some level of serious incompetence has once again surfaced in the Murphy PD, their officers, their 9-1-1 system and it’s less than stellar response to this terrible tragedy.

I know we have police officers and 1st responders that read here, I would seriously like for you to read, and fully digest this piece from WFAA.com and Shelly Slater, read the report of the actions of the 9-1-1 operator, the EMT personnel and the responding officer, read it very carefully, and then let us know what YOU think!

Shelly Slater is one of the great reporters from WFAA News here in Dallas, I have used their stories on occasion, most recently the stories by Byron Harris of WFAA , one of the best investigative reporters in the business.

Only in Texas!!

Only in Texas
With a tip of the Stetson to
Bloviating Zeppelin

A lawyer runs a stop sign and gets pulled over by a sheriff’s deputy.

He thinks that he is smarter than the deputy because he is a lawyer from New York and is certain that he has a better education then any cop from Texas. He decides to prove this to himself and have some fun at the Texas deputy’s expense.

The deputy says,’ License and registration, please.’

‘What for?’ says the lawyer.

The deputy says, ‘You didn’t come to a complete stop at the stop sign.’

Then the lawyer says, ‘I slowed down, and no one was coming.’

‘You still didn’t come to a complete stop’ says the deputy. ‘License and registration, please.’

The lawyer says, ‘What’s the difference?’

‘The difference is you have to come to complete stop, that’s the law. License and registration, please!’ the Deputy says.

Lawyer says, ‘If you can show me the legal difference between slow down and stop, I’ll give you my license and registration; and you give me the ticket. If not, you let me go and don’t give me the ticket.’

‘That sounds fair. Please exit your vehicle, sir,’ the deputy says.

At this point, the deputy takes out his nightstick and starts beating the daylights out of the lawyer and says, ‘Do you want me to stop, or just slow down?’

Chicago police head outlines anti-gang plan

Chicago police head outlines anti-gang plan

CHICAGO (AP) - The head of the nation’s second-largest police department says he is establishing a new unit to deal with gang slayings, which he blames for a murder rate that eclipses that of New York and Los Angeles.

Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis told aldermen Friday that he was setting up the Mobile Strike Force to attack the city’s gangs. The unit will be comprised of roughly 150 veteran officers divided into about a dozen teams and will “disrupt gang crimes through physical arrests, search warrants and gun seizures,” Weis said.

He said there were 75 identified gangs in the city and 75,000 gang members.

“The gang culture continues to be the driving force behind the vast majority of violence, with more than half the murders committed by gangs,” he said.

Weis said the department will focus on gathering intelligence and moving quickly to put police officers in neighborhoods with the most drug dealing and violent gang activity.

Gangs and Chicago. Chicago and gangs. Seems like a never ending cycle doesn’t it? Going back to the early part of the 20th century, and likely even further back than that.

Al Capone was Chicago’s most infamous gangster, Big Al was the predecessor to this whole thing, the founder of the feast so to speak. Capone wrote the book on gang activity in Chicago, how to do it, how to make it happen, how to get by with it, the whole thing, and the root of the matter is corrupt politicians, corrupt police officials and money!

The gangs CAN be stopped, but it won’t happen, not fully, until the upper echelon of corruption is removed, the protectorate, the politicians and police brass that take massive payoffs to look the other way. And yes, it DOES happen, just like that. It’s the Chicago way!

Officers have said they are concerned that Weis and his administration do not support them.

Weis said Friday that he’s trying to assure officers “that we have their backs.”

I happen to have known some Chicago officers over the years, what they are afraid of is this, Weis DOES have their back, and they are afraid that there may be a dagger in his hand. Much like our Police Chief here in Dallas, there is an attitude of Political Correctness in place, the bad guys have more rights than the citizens, and the cops are going to be blamed for ANY action, no matter how it turns out, regardless of the circumstances, the COPS will be wrong and the Department will crucify them for it. Couple that with the perceived notion of corrupt officials in Chicago and you have a recipe for disaster.

I can tell you exactly how to rid your city of gangs, it’s not PC, it’s probably too brutal for the bleeding hearts at the ACLU and I am sure that the NAACP would have a coronary, but here it is, a line from the movie The Untouchables, just substitute the word GANGS for the word Capone and there ya go, the perfect solution.

You wanna know how to get Capone? They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. *That’s* the *Chicago* way! And that’s how you get Capone.

And that folks, is exactly how it needs to be applied in ALL U.S. cities, with one exception, if they send one of yours to the hospital, you send 10 of theirs to the morgue. That’s the TexasFred way!

Immigration agency vows more enforcement

Immigration agency vows more enforcement

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Federal immigration officials vowed Friday to intensify efforts to track down illegal immigrants after scrapping a trial “self-deportation” program that attracted only eight volunteers.

Though the 2 1/2-week effort produced few volunteer deportees among illegal immigrants who are under court orders to leave the country, a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement official said his agency will arrest more of them this year than last — and still more next year as more agents are assigned.

“We are going to continue our enforcement of immigration law whether it is convenient for people, or whether it’s not convenient,” Jim Hayes, ICE’s acting director of detention and removal operations, told reporters.

“Congress has mandated that we enforce these laws and that is what we intend to do,” he said.

Immigrant advocates accused ICE of using the failure of the “Scheduled Departure” program to justify raids that have caused many illegal immigrants to live in fear of a pre-dawn knock on the door. They ridiculed the self-deportation program, saying it gave people no incentive to surrender.

Voluntary self-deportation? Now there’s a joke. Not a funny joke, but a joke none the less.

Anyone that even remotely expected voluntary self-deportation to work must have been drinking the bong water. This kind of makes me think of those weapons for food programs a few cities have tried. They offer free food and whatnot and the Boyz in Da’ Hood are supposed to bring in their Mac-10’s and AK’s in return for some gratuitous handouts.

What happens is, Da’ Boyz send the Baby Mama with some POS worn out .22 revolver that hasn’t worked since Huey P. Long was Governor of Louisiana, the Baby Mama gets the food or whatever, Da’ Boyz keep their serious weapons and the PC minded idiots get to hold up a box full of junk and claim some kind of moral victory.

It’s just like that bunch of ILLEGALS in Pasadena that are all up in the air because the Pasadena P.D. is actually enforcing the law, vehicular codes to be exact. They seem to think that they can break the law, 1st by being here as ILLEGALS, and then seem to think they are due some kind of immunity while driving their broken down and uninsured POS Tijuana Taxis.

Here’s what I think needs to be done in regards to deportation of the ILLEGALS that are an infestation on this nation. Round em up and march em to the border, send em across the border, back to their homeland, man the border with troops, law enforcement personnel, Border Patrol, whatever, and shoot any of em that try to come back into this nation at anything OTHER than a LEGAL U.S. border crossing.

We don’t need any more laws in America, we don’t need any more rules and/or regulations, we have more than enough laws and programs on the books, what we need is a government that has the BALLS to fully enforce the laws we already have.

So, tell me, why are some people so surprised when the laws of this land are enforced and when ridiculous programs such as this voluntary self-deportation thing fail miserably? If the arrest and deportation of ILLEGALS bothers the ILLEGALS, all they have to do is get LEGAL, or leave, one way or another.

I personally will welcome LEGAL immigrants with open arms. I have absolutely NO problems with lawbreakers suffering whatever fate awaits them.
