Alaska militia leader Schaeffer Cox gets 25-year prison term

CT sc–nw–alaska–cox_ctshare 0509 srThe youthful head of a self-styled Alaska militia that collected firearms and grenades and talked of killing judges and government employees was sentenced Tuesday to more than 25 years in prison, despite his lawyer’s claim that he suffered from paranoid delusions.

Prosecutors had sought 35 years for Schaeffer Cox, who had gained a following in far-right circles across the West with his message that the government had strayed from its constitutional authority. Secretly he and his followers began accumulating weaponry and plotting retribution.

Tuesday’s hearing in Anchorage marked a substantial turnaround for the 28-year-old former leader of the Alaska Peacemakers Militia, who spent his trial in May and June denying wrongdoing and accusing the government of putting his political beliefs on trial. SOURCE

I have had several different people ask me, “Fred, why aren’t YOU a militia member?” and I have had some ask, “Why don’t YOU form a militia, you have a lot of knowledge of guns and so forth, you could do something like that, couldn’t you?”

To all of that I say: NO WAY!

It’s not that I don’t believe that our government hasn’t strayed from its constitutional authority; indeed I believe it has, but I have NEVER called for the deaths of judges, other government employees, elected officials and innocent bystanders.

I have stated, unequivocally, that I will defend the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights as it was written by our Founding Fathers.

That statement is NOT an act of conspiracy to commit murder and is not a threat to engage in acts of anarchy against a lawful government that observes the Constitution as opposed to usurping same. It is not a call for rebellion against our government as long as it treats the American citizen with respect and dignity. It is not a call for violence against a nation that allows its citizens to be FREE; it is merely an acknowledgement of the OATH that all federal and local elected officials, Law Enforcement Officers and Soldiers swear to.

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter, so help me God.

Now we see why some such as Schaeffer Cox believe that they are merely defending the United States from ALL enemies, most particularly; the DOMESTIC enemy. Cox was an anarchist type that talked a *good game*.

The defense of the Constitution doesn’t require MURDER, although some seem to think so, but at some point in time the defense of the Constitution and this United States may require that American Patriots stand and fight against the oppression of a dictatorial regime, one that falls into direct opposition of the U.S. Constitution and American beliefs.

You can read and interpret that last paragraph in any way you please; but back to the story at hand.

Schaeffer Cox made threats of death against others. That is wrong and should not have happened. It appears to me that Schaeffer Cox is nothing more than a radical that was on some kind of *power trip* and did consider himself *above the law*.

Schaeffer Cox ran his mouth, showed his ignorance and is now going to spend quite a few years in prison, which leads me back to the question; “Why don’t YOU form a militia, you have a lot of knowledge of guns and so forth, you could do something like that, couldn’t you?”

You NEVER know who you can trust. It has been said that 2 people can keep a secret, as long as one of them is dead.

Undercover ‘supply sergeant’ helped bring down Alaska militia

In another life, William Fulton was “Drop Zone Bill,” a bounty hunter who ran a military surplus store in Anchorage. You need a tactical vest? A bayonet that would clip neatly onto an M-4? Bill Fulton was your man.

“We do bad things to bad people,” his company jackets said.

Fulton was also a go-to guy for Republican politicians who occasionally needed to reach out to the far right fringes of the party — those who spent weekends in the woods in camo gear and considered the 2nd Amendment an expression of divine intent. SOURCE

How do you KNOW, beyond a shadow of a doubt, just WHO you can trust?

That fully illustrates exactly WHY I would never become a member of a radical type group nor would I be the founder of such. You see, even if YOU didn’t say it or do it, as the leader of such a group YOU are ultimately responsible, either as a civil, or possibly as a criminal defendant.

You didn’t say it or do it but some young *hot heads* did, and YOU lose everything you have or ever hope to have.

I say this; I am an American, a gun owner, a Patriot, I believe in the United States as it was founded, I will defend this nation against ALL enemies, but I am not going to go out and for a fight.

I will not start this fight, but if you bring a fight to me, if you trample on the rights and liberties that we Americans have and the Constitution that this nation is based upon; may God have mercy on your soul because I won’t.

That is NOT a threat, it IS a promise! Deo vindice.

    Well said and affirmed.
This is exactly what we “Oath Keepers” and sworn officers, Academy trained,,, believe in.
This is what every soldier, airman, marine, coast guard, et-al,,, also swore to this OATH.
BUT,,,,,also Barak Hussein Obama, our current president, ALSO SWORE TO!!!
I do not believe him. I believe he is a poser, and a liar.
I have read all his books, searched his history,, and I firmly believe that he is a “plant, undercover With a communist social agenda.
I believe he is a well trained puppet, and has ben foisted upon us by his handlers.
I also believe his handlers are the ones with the sinister power to make him all powerful, or to take him out any time “he” does not fulfill his puppeteers wishes and desires.
I believe that he is a manufactured tool, put in place to bring this beloved USA down, and to destroy is as we have known in past years.
He has said this exactly,,,,CHANGE, upward thrust chin.
I fully respect the office of our President and the power that it holds.
I believe fervently in our Constitution.
I am only sorry that this past presidential election did not change the powers at be,,,,in the White House.
I will watch the inauguration on January 20th closely to see what President Obama does and see if he silently and secretly fails to respect the office that I feel he holds illegally due to his birthplace and also not being “natural born” which our current laws of qualification demands!!
I have said enough,,, so,,,,how do you feel about this????

Obama went through the motions, he mouthed the words and crossed his fingers…

I too will watch, and record his every denigration of the Constitution, I would rather see him and his regime OUT of power and doing HARD TIME than dead…

    • Hgpsurf says:

mrchuck… I have heard this before regarding Obama being a puppet for others but I don’t remember anyone saying just who is behind him. Is it George Soros, Bill Ayers ( better not be), or just who? Any thoughts?

      • TexasFred says:

Hugh, I believe Soros AND Bill Ayers, and a few others too no doubt but Soros is the $$$ behind *The Manchurian Candidate*…

        • Ya knoe Fred, this is the stuff that Uncle Johnny used to say… As much fun as we all hand with him? His infowar stuff turned out to be correct way too many times for me to just brush it all off as lunatic rantings anymore…

Not to even bring up the Soros backed crap that happened to me in Africa. Ayers had a full blown “green light” on him if out of country for years. I seriously doubt that is still in effect though. Hell, he’s a Whorehouse guest!

        • Hgpsurf says:

I can’t help but keep connecting Ayers seriously discussing killing 25 million Americans and his connection to Obama along with the big government purchase of hollow points. Connecting the dots on that one scares the hell out of me.

  2. Well, I will make no bones about it. I believe that if you have committed treason to your oath you should be hung, period. After a proper trial though. Not going out and putting into place a few of the methods we taught at the School of the Americas and elsewhere.
Have I too been approached about these subjects? Sure, countless times. But the only people that I have assisted were from 10th SFG down in the springs. Reserve Marines that were going to evil places to break things, and our own or nearby Sheriffs. People along those lines, and yes some SEAL’s too just to fill in the blanks.

Nitwits, wannabe’s, and anarchists need not apply unless you really want to be getting Bubba his coffee in the morning and pleasing him at night. When you are not out working for him keeping him in contraband that is…

  3. As you stated Fred, this guy is nothing more than an exetremist. He got what he deserved. These are tbe kind of loons that give the far left their motivation to say that the right is nothing more rhat a bunch of crazed dogs that want nothing morethat to start a civil war. Not true, I also will not fire the first round, but rest assured, that as an OATH KEEPER, I will defend my country and constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. I do not need to belong to or organize a militia.

God Bless America & You too Fred!!

  4. All I need to do, in these tumultuous times, is profess a love and an adherence to my US Constitution to be thought a terrorist by elements of my very own government.

I love my country and will adhere to its founding documents.

I am an Oathkeeper. And I am still an active law enforcement officer.

  5. Katie says:

What Schaeffer Cox did was illegal. Forming a militia is not against the law. Threatening judges, government officials, private citizens IS against the law.

What Cox was forming was NOT a militia but a terrorist group. No different from the IRA, Hamas and Hezbollah.

These kooks make us normal gun owners look like crazies.

  6. John says:
