Gen. Peter Pace to Retire as Joint Chiefs of Staff

WASHINGTON — Marine Gen. Peter Pace will retire as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Defense Secretary Robert Gates announced on Friday.

Gates said while he intended to renominate Pace for another two-year term as chairman, after consulting with congressional leaders, the confirmation hearing was likely to be “a backward-looking and very contentious process.”

“The focus of his confirmation process would have been on the past, rather than the future,” Gates said at a press conference at the Pentagon.

Gates said he will recommend to President Bush Adm. Michael G. Mullen, chief of naval operations, as the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

“I think Admiral Mullen will bring a tremendous perspective,” Gates said.

Gen. Peter Pace to Retire as Joint Chiefs of Staff

I would love to know the real reasoning behind this resignation, and I would have to just guess that it has something to do with not buying into the bullshit games being played by the Bush administration, at least I would hope that’s the reasoning, Gen. Peter Pace was a good guy back in the day, and I seriously doubt he’s changed that much…

And I also wonder, does this resignation from the Joint Chiefs serve as his retirement from the Corps??

Which poses another serious question, IF he does retire from the Corps as well, will he be one of those Generals that speaks out openly against Bush & Company??

We can only hope that Pace’s ethics outweigh any motives…

UPDATE: WASHINGTON (AP) - The Bush administration sidelined Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, on Friday, announcing plans to replace him as the nation’s top military officer rather than reappoint him and risk a Senate confirmation struggle focusing on the Iraq War.

Pace Out As Head of Joint Chiefs

Now Pace is not ‘retired’, he’s replaced, and in civilian terms that means he has been fired, semantics I suppose, but I am even more convinced that Pace has pissed off his higher up… Maybe he spoke against something, maybe he didn’t ‘toe the party line’, who knows, this is a developing story…

General Peter Pace: Clash with President Bush over evidence of insurrection his undoing
    ____________________________

Evidence of a significant insurrection and seditious conspiracy against the laws of the United States was last week presented to General Peter Pace, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States Armed Forces. (See: Insurrection).

General Pace and his Joint Chiefs of Staff were urgently requested to address and terminate the progress of the treacherous conspiracy in terms of their Constitutional and Statutory dictates. (See: Letter). The Joint Chiefs have taken an Oath of Office to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic”. Previously, the executive, judicial, and legislative branches of government failed to quell the conspiracy against the laws of the country.

It is believed that a fierce clash between President Bush and General Pace over whether to address or conceal the illegal conspiracy led to the sudden announcement of Gen. Pace’s imminent retirement after only two years in office. The White House on the other hand, offers the soft and obsequious pretext: Gen. Pace’s confirmation hearings at the US Senate will be too “contentious”.

General Pace is not the only senior official to lose his job after clashes with President Bush over the question of the very same seditious conspiracy. Mr. Roscoe C. Howard, former US Attorney for Washington D.C., was fired at the insistence of President Bush who was, at the time, under criminal investigation by Mr. Howard for violations of the criminal statutes in the proceedings of civil case no. 1:03-02496(EGS), US District Court for D.C., (a case dealing with the very insurrection under discussion).

The acute dilemma for General Pace and the Joint Chiefs of Staff is whether to honor their oath and take decisive action against the seditious conspirators, which includes their Commander in Chief; or, whether to simply ignore and conceal the profound evidence presented to them, and thereby adhere to the enemies of the state, giving them aid and comfort – an offense classified as treason. (18USC2381).
