Gunman opens fire at Oregon College in mass killing
A gunman opened fire at a community college in southern Oregon on Thursday, killing 13 people and wounding some 20 others before he was shot to death by police, state and county officials said, in the latest mass killing to rock a U.S. school.
There were conflicting reports on the number of dead and wounded in the shooting rampage at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, which began shortly after 10:30 a.m. local time (1730 GMT).
The state’s attorney general, Ellen Rosenblum, told the local NBC affiliate that 13 people had been slain, 20 wounded and the shooter was killed. Rosenblum’s office did not return calls seeking comment.
Governor Kate Brown said the suspect was a 20-year-old man but he was not identified further by authorities. CNN reported that four guns belonging to the shooter were recovered from the scene. SOURCE
First and foremost I want to express my most sincere condolences to the families of the dead and wounded. I am truly sorry for your loss.
Second; to ALL of the anti-gun people that are screaming for more gun control and the seizure of guns; you can all, individually or in a great big collective party: GO SCREW YOURSELVES. That too is said in all sincerity.
I don’t know what type of weapons were used in this act of violence, but there is one thing that is 100% guaranteed, the GUNS did NOT do this crime, the shooter did this crime, he just chose to use guns as his tools of choice.
Yes, I am angry, incredibly angry, the bodies of the dead weren’t even cold and the White House is calling for tougher gun laws in wake of Oregon shooting. Yes indeed, Barack Hussein Obama had to get on the nightly news and launch into HIS screed about *tougher gun laws*.

Oregon Tightened Gun-Buying Restrictions in Weeks Before Shooting
Thursday’s mass shooting on a college campus in Oregon came just weeks after the state recently tightened restrictions on gun purchases.
A law that went into effect on Aug. 9 requires background checks for transactions made between individuals and online. Previously, checks were mandatory only for people seeking to buy a gun from a federally licensed dealer — at a gun store or gun show.
It is not clear where or when the shooter in Thursday’s attack obtained his weapon nor whether the new law would have had any impact.
Gun-control advocates said the new measure would prevent criminals and the mentally ill from buying guns.

All the anti-gun people want tighter restrictions, tougher laws or out and out confiscation of ALL guns in America, but they have no concept of the WAR that would take place should such ever be attempted.
Let me say this in closing; you can institute ALL the new gun laws you like, you can enact tougher laws, more restrictions, anything you can think of in your lame effort to stop individual acts of violence such as this but until you address the root cause of this violence, insanity, you are wasting time and effort because there is nothing going to make gun violence go away until ALL of the insane people, the criminals and other random ne’er do wells can no longer lay hands on a gun of any fashion.
You don’t seem to pick very good times for taking time off. Just because things are quiet doesn’t mean it’s safe to shut down for a while. It just means the Left is thinking up it’s next series of moves.

Same thing with Bill Clinton. Every time he got in a scandal, we would have a deployment of troops. I was in a KC-135 air refueling outfit and troops don’t go anywhere until we have the air-bridge in established. Whenever Clinton scandals broke on the news, we would bring our mobility bags to work because we knew we were deploying…never failed.
Unfortunately, Reagan brought the issue of shutting down the bulk of mental hospitals in California to the forefront; he began diverting funding. The trend continued because Leftists believed each “sanitarium” was a cesspool of horror. The bottom line is that when you remove these institutions, the mentally defective live on the streets, commit crimes, and stay with their parents or isolate themselves, often refusing to take medications or remaining entirely unprescribed. Left to themselves, absent firearms, they would resort to vehicles to kill others, clubs, rocks, knives, machetes, crossbows, garrotes, acids and the like. Because they are mentally defective.
Many of these people are only treated in jails and prisons because they have already offended. As there was little available for them on the street. And trust me, mental treatment in jail is barely plugging a huge hole in the hull. The ship is still sinking.
Some of these people will never be “brought back.” Some of these people are not even remotely treatable. But because we, societally, have determined that we won’t warehouse those who really shouldn’t walk the streets, they walk the streets. They live with their parents, with family members who may be afraid of them themselves.
The firearm is just a TOOL. Remove that one TOOL from the toolbelt of the mentally unhinged and defective, they will find ANOTHER tool to replace it of equal or higher offense.

I agree with you BZ. There are idiots who think insane asylums are bad, and if you get rid of them, you get rid of the bad that they represent. It’s like saying that garbage cans are filthy and disgusting, and then outlawing garbage cans, feeling all smug that you solved the horrible garbage can problem. Then, you are confused and cannot understand why garbage is all over the streets. DUH. Same thing.
Getting rid of sanitoriums did not get rid of the crazies…it merely got rid of the buildings that kept them in one place and away from society.
I think the one huge problem progressives and liberals have, is they think they can cure the human condition. That banning things and giving out hugs is all it takes to make a perfect world. Then, when things don’t work out as they planned, and in fact, get worse, instead of admitting that what they tried was wrong, they simply double down, and do more of the same twice as much and twice as hard, thinking this time for sure it will work. Kinda like Bullwinkle pulling a rabbit out of his hat. It never works, no matter how big the hat is.
Whereas, conservatives understand reality, and know that we can not fix everything and everyone. Instead, we realize that life can be ugly, not everything can be fixed by talking aobut it, and we prepare to deal with the problem in the most sensible way possible. Hence, house the insane, to deal with the insane problem, have good guys with guns to counter the bad guys with guns, and so on.

Nothing on the shooter, where or how he got the gun, the type of gun used, or any other information. As far as he knows, the scum could have broke into the house of a legal gun owner and stolen it. Did that with the Cambridge Police Department, Michael Brown, Freddy Gray, and every other incident involving law enforcement or firearms.
Breibart just posted that gunman told people to state what religion they were ..if they stated Christian, they were shot in the head, if they didn’t he shot them in the legs…developing story, how is this going to come out and this shooter was dead by noon. He says last year, one of the biggest debates on campus was whether the school should have armed security officers. He says the college had three training exercises with local law agencies in the past two years, “but you can never be prepared for something like this.”

During my entire career in public service, I was subjected to random testing. How is obama and friends not prone to this same standard? If a cop is high on the job, he may kill a person by being stupid. In the case of obama, he could kill a country or destroy the world by being high and stupid. Who should be drug tested more often?
