Here’s another one of those wonderful posts I get from friends and readers, you guys are making me lazy, and I love it! This an opinion piece so, again, no link for citation, just roll with it and soak it in…
What the Hell has gone wrong with our Election Process?
To answer those questions we must first remember these facts from “the good ole days”:
Remember when voting was done on a specified day only?
Remember when the only way that you could get an absentee ballot to vote ahead of time was if you were infirmed or hospitalized, usually with a doctor’s sworn statement, or your employer swore to the fact that you would be gone on company business on election day, or for a few other verifiable excuses that you had to swear to and be prosecuted for if you lied?
Remember when you were in the military and you were provided the opportunity, in plenty of time, to cast your vote and were confident it would be in your home precinct when the votes were counted along with yours?
Remember that if you stayed up late you could usually get the results on election night?
Remember when there was no such thing as “exit polling” and those 50% or less vote count results declaring the election’s winner before all of the votes were counted never existed?
Remember when people lamented about the “poor voter turn-outs”, usually in the 60% to 64% range. Not the more recent 47% to 60% fraud-filled range?
Remember when you had to show proof of residence before you received the necessary “voter registration ID card” that you had to produce, and was double-checked at your precinct, before you were allowed to vote?
Remember when the term “voter fraud” was usually only spoken of in the big cities and not on a nationwide basis?
Remember when if you were a “bad boy, bad boy” sittin’ in jail one thing you couldn’t do was VOTE!
Remember when all of the above ended and the abuses began?
You don’t?
Lemme tell ya’ when it began;
It all began with the Voting Rights Act of 1965 on August 6, 1965!
Yep, that’s when Lyndon B. Johnson signed it into law. It was a follow-up act to his Civil Rights Act of July 2, 1964 when he gleefully said; “Just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference” [How wrong that was!] - And - “I’ll have them niggers voting Democrat for the next 200 years.” [I’m afraid this country won’t be around in 2164 to see how true that statement is without a drastic and quick turnaround.]
It has been amended 5 times since:
In 1970 by Nixon when provisions of Johnson’s 1965 law were to expire.
In 1975 by Ford when provisions of the 1965 law’s 1970 amendments were to expire.
In 1982 by Reagan when provisions of the 1965 law’s 1975 amendments were to expire.
In 1992 by G. W. Bush by making ballots bi-lingual to accommodate non-English speaking voters.
In 2006 Bush again, this time to woo the Hispanics [We have seen how well that’s worked out for the Repugs]
So, you see, we can’t blame only the Dim-O’s for the degeneration of the American voting process. It is a bi-partisan thing to screw the average American voter and just make us think that our vote counts and that the wealthy lobbyists aren’t the ones deciding our government.
Personally, my last hope is with Trump. He’s not perfect, but he’s not beholding to anyone, he’s no loyal party member and he sure don’t need the lobbyist’s money.
Don’t forget:
Every time Republicans committed wrongs to woo Hispanics it backfired on them. Reagan and HW Bush gave amnesty to Illegals and it only created more Democrat voters. GW having ballots printed in numerous languages only created more Democrat voters. Besides, to be an American Citizen, you have to be able to read and write English. Why in the world would we have ballots in foreign languages unless we had non-citizens voting?
Felons voting, voting age lowered to 16, voting for prisoners and felons. And soon, voting for non-Americans. All of it leading up to more democrat votes. How long before the republicans never win another election?
Unless things change soon, not too long I’m afraid…
What states allow 16 year olds to vote? We’re in trouble if a minor is allowed to vote..
