Murkowski defends write-in Senate bid

WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska says her write-in effort to re-enter the race to retain her seat in the Senate isn’t undermining the Republican Party.

Murkowski defends write-in Senate bid

Some people can accept defeat gracefully. Some folks have enough common sense to look at the vote tally and realize that this time around, they lost. Some can accept a clean election and accurate vote count that goes against them as a mandate from the voters and then move on with their lives, perhaps in a different direction, away from politics, or perhaps to go into a live to fight another day mode.

Lisa Murkowski is NOT one of those people. She is suffering ‘The Agony of Defeat’.

Murkowski is undermining the GOP effort in this race, she is going to run against her former opponent and will, at least to some degree, split the vote between the GOP and Dem candidate.

Speaking in an interview Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Murkowski said she received countless phone calls, e-mails and faxes urging her to stay in the contest.

“Murkowski said she received countless phone calls, e-mails and faxes”? Oh really? Countless numbers Lisa?

I’m going out on a limb here, I’m going to take a shot in the dark and say, if those phone calls, e-mails and faxes had been VOTES, Murkowski would know the exact number of calls and faxes and e-mails she received, and would be spouting those numbers in a loud and boisterous manner.

In mounting the write-in bid, she says she’s “listening to my constituents” and is “going to give them a choice.”

Don’t LIE Lisa, the only thing you’re listening to is your survival instinct as you see your less than illustrious political career come to an end. You are exhibiting your desperation to hold on to YOUR job. And damn the rest of your state in the process. Split the ticket and Alaska goes BLUE.

Murkowski says that suggestions by the GOP’s nominee, Joe Miller, to do away with Medicare, Social Security and the Education Department are too radical for most Alaskans.

And again I say, don’t LIE Lisa. If Joe Miller’s ideas are ‘too radical’, why then did HE win against you in this run-off election? If his ideas are ‘too radical’, wouldn’t it stand to reason that the voters of Alaska would not have voted FOR him?

She acknowledges, however, that a write-in campaign is going to be tough.

Tough, and hopefully, a terrible disappointment for Lisa Murkowski.

If Joe Miller does something stupid, if he says something stupid, if he shoots himself in the foot, then Murkowski may have a chance. But Miller is, at least to the best of my knowledge, a lot more Conservative than Murkowski or his other opponent.

I know little of Alaska politics or the mindset of the people. Time will tell if Miller is the one, but being a bitter loser and then spinning off into a run as an Independent after you got your butt kicked as a Republican isn’t helping Alaska or the GOP in general.

What do Murkowski and Crist have in common? They are both too stupid, too power hungry and too attached to the establishment to leave when they got asked too.

RINO idiots are being replaced. In case anyone hasn’t noticed. Republicans with Conservative values and a voting record that supports that charge have had it easy in their elections….Somehow McCain managed to fool the good folks of AZ but his race wasn’t easy.

McCain was the head we really wanted over the fireplace. But we’ll take what we can get.

  2. Vigilante says:

Like Robert says…….she’s POWER hungry and she’s exactly what’s wrong in government right now. The elitist snobs just cannot get it through their thick egotistical heads that the people are dammed tired of their “we’re gonna do it MY way or else attitudes, so, just shut up and send in your money
we’re in charge NOW. I hope the voters really trash her ass now.

  3. ablur says:

Worked and visited Alaska. These are not push over people. They have worked hard against a tough environment and they don’t tolerate whiners. Prior to this she had a chance at holding another office in the future. Now her career is completely over. The heckling and put downs she will have to take will scar her for life.
The lust for power will take down many this election season.

  4. Gawfer says:

I don’t doubt for one minute her claim of countless calls, faxes and emails. Evidently, she’s too stupid to realize they’re not from constituents however, but the opposing party that understands a house divided against itself cannot stand.

  5. larryruckman says:

The only reason that all those email and phone calls were countless, actually there were 11 and she had her shoes on

  6. James Shott says:

Her attitude and Crist’s attitude are manifestations of what is wrong with our country.

  7. BobF says:

Politicians like her, Charley Crist, and Joe Lieberman were members of a political party which supported them with money and effort. They led voters of the party to believe that they upheld the principals of that particular political party and when voters finally realized otherwise and voted them out in the primaries, they stabbed the voters which supported them and went independent, knowing that they’ll ruin the chances of the candidate the voters supported. They’re nothing but political hacks that lack honor and integrity.

The same goes for Arlin Specter who Democrats saw through and voted his sorry butt out.

  8. minuteman26 says:

What Murkowski, Christ, McCain, Lieberman and Graham have shown us is that its about personal wealth and power. They don’t have a patriotic bone in their collective bodies and the country be damned. Can add a bunch more names to that list.

  9. What a shill, what an arrogant liar.

If each of those “countless calls and faxes” had been votes, she wouldn’t have won. Now she’s doing nothing but being a CORRUPTOR who can’t take defeat because, in truth, it means she loses her cushy job where she has, mostly, done very little.

As they say, “serchez les bucks.” Look for the money stream. If she’s wanting to mount a write-in campaign, it’s because someone like Soros is promising her money to do so. Purpose: Split the GOP vote between so-called “big-tent” RINOs (who, it turns out, don’t have a very big tent when they are not the ringmasters) and true conservatives with the result a possible win for the dems. Remember Ross Pee Rot?

  11. BobF says:

Joe Miller is a decorated combat veteran who graduated with honors from West Point. After his service in the Army, he went and got a law degree from Yale Law School. Murkowski says he’s not quality. I wonder what she means by that? Since she has high regards for the lawyers who inhabit politics, it must be his military background she has problems with.

  12. Texasperated says:

Murkowski had that Senate seat for one reason only: nepotism. It was her father’s Senate seat for years. When he was elected governor of AK, he vacated the seat and immediately appointed (as it is the governor’s right to do) his daughter to his old Senate seat. She then went on to win in her own right primarily because (pardon the pun) there was no opposition in the Republican PRIMARY. But in a state like AK, she had no real opposition from the Democrats and the ONLY way they could pick up that Senate seat is if Murkowski were to run as a spoiler.

    See above. “Serchez les bucks.”
